Could we not consider this?

As with most messengers you can quickly snap and post something now just using a button. I'm not for one minute suggesting we would all go @WeasteDevil and start posting manginas but it would be a nice option to have.

You mean so the images are hosted here?

I'd imagine it would be an enormous increase in server load.

Can we integrate with imgur?

Say you press the button and select the image here which simultaneously gets uploaded on imgur and gets embedded in the post.

Oh I've no idea how it works mate. This kinda thing isn't my strong point. Just think we should have an easier method of sticking pics up. The whiskey thread made me think it before as I wanted to send you pics of what's behind the bar when I'm out

I know it would be better to have it “on site” as many forums i use have it but i use tinypic and its pretty quick.

A car forum i used to use had full colour avatars and signatures with images in too, surely it wouldn’t add much as we dont have anywhere near the amount of images on here that a car forum has.

Truth like rain don't give a feck who it falls on.
Download monosnap. You can press a keyboard shortcut to then target an area, and once you've taken a shot of what you want, there's an upload button and it uploads it and copies the URL to your clipboard automatically. The whole process takes about 10 seconds from taking a pic to having it online.

That sounds good, is it available on ipad?

Please no avatars :boring:

Though as @TheReligion suggests, it would be nice to find a less clunky method than Imgur. Maybe it's user incompetence, but I have to copy and paste the link 3 or 4 times before getting the one that ends in .jpg and actually works.

Nothing to do with server space. Avatars and signatures just aren't allowed here en masse as they look ugly and take attention away from posts.

No, i wasn’t suggesting avatars, i know they’re not allowed, i meant the other forums have these and thousands and thousands of images so us having the ability for a quick upload wouldn’t add much, hope you get what i mean.

Seconded! It's a pain to upload a picture to Imgur/whatnot and then embed it here.

Most forums seem to do it where you have to sign up to see the photos.

Which sucks as most people just browse

Yeah some do i admit but some dont, maybe it’s just something they can turn on/off.

Imgur provides an API, which you could integrate to the forum to upload pics I guess. Would be a cool option.

https://api.imgur.com/
That's fine if you're willing to modify the source code. I wouldn't mind giving it a bash though, might learn something.

I know this is a xenforo implementation so it's only php which is pretty easy. There's a community of users that share add ons but I've never implemented xenfor so have no idea what's actually available or possible.

Especially on my phone. I find it never gives you the direct image link and only links to the album even if it's one pic.

Niall's a developer. The matchday stuff, transfer tweets page and threadmarks (the last of which he released as a Xenforo 1.x addon) were all done by him. Right now he's working on making them - and other custom addons he's done for mod stuff plus other things - compatible with 2.x so we can upgrade the board so if something like that were to be implemented, it would be low down on the list.

That is the only way making photo uploads easier would be implemented. We never have and won’t store images but integrating with an image service like imgur could work.

As @Damien said other stuff takes priority at the moment but I’ll keep a note of this idea.

I agree, hosted disk space is expensive. I've run a pretty big music board for years. We allowed uploading for a while, but reverted pretty quickly.

I'm trying to upload some pictures to the photography thread but I'm having a bit of an issue:

1. Photobucket is a broken and terrible website
2. The photos I do manage to upload from there have a gaudy Photobucket watermark over my photo

How can I upload a picture that 1. doesn't lose quality and 2. has no watermark? I tried from Imgur and Facebook but didn't work. Haven't tried from instagram but not keen on this as the compression on that site ruins the quality.

Any help appreciated.

What's wrong with imgur?
Ah, don't worry, it's fine.

Imgur was only giving me one link to paste and it wasn't working. Turns out I hadn't verified my email address. Working fine now! Sorry.

So now, Imgur is not allowing me to upload anything...

...so I'm back to square one. Any other sites that can be used that aren't complete crap?
