I'd give credits to Watford. They took the game excellently, but we just nailed the 3 points.

Premier League really is that hard.

Would be class to play well for two consecutive halves. Not even criticising sitting back a bit, more that we looked shoddy doing that today, failed to kill the game and some really sloppy passing. Really enjoyed the first half though. Shame about Matic, might need someone quicker for Wolves anyway.

Happy for a win.

Fellaini at fault for the goal, gave the ball away in their half which led to sustained possession for Watford before their goal.

He gave the ball away a couple of times due to clumsy touch, notably in our penalty area in first half.

Shows how meh we are when he probably still deserves MOM - although thought Pogba would have been awarded it.

Only player who didn't look like a Man Utd player was McTominay. But too much sloppiness on the ball, particularly from Pogba and Lukaku, and Sanchez was too selfish as ever. Still not impressed that we have to play 2 DMs to cover for the Swedish John Stones though, we need to do better in Jan if somebody is available and we've still got something to play for.

These are the games that get filed under ‘De Gea won the game for us’, which is bollocks tbh, and has been used over the years to trash us. He wasn’t close to being MOTM for me, he was called upon to make a save and he made it well, but the players in front of him played well and did their bit.

France - can't win anything with Swedish turnips
Got better as the first half went on but Sanchez and Lingard losing the ball too often.
Very good end to the first half, could have had one or two more.

Second half kept dropping deeper and the marking was atrocious for the Watford goal. Should have been a little easier that win.

Smalling, Pogba, Fellaini did well and couple of good saves from DDG.
Still not convinced by Lindelof.

Squeaky bum time at the end. But you’d expect that there. Stood up to the intensity. A huge difference from the Brighton game. Let’s go on a run now....please

The lack of understanding between our forward line is truly shocking. Most good teams woukd have killed off Watford 4 or 5 given the counter attacking opportunities but this is Utd so we have to struggle to victory every match!

Still...onwards and upwards!

People here who are saying 'It's Watford' or that is how they are coming across. This side is excellent at home. We beat them, sometimes it is a battle, but we did battle. There will be plenty of teams who will slip up there. We have won two away games on the bounce.

Decent performance, and a much needed victory. Thought we played really well in the first half, especially in the last 15-20 mins.

Second half was functional, but the passing was really poor in the last quarter of an hour. Very sloppy.

Fellaini, Smalling and Young had very good games. Lukaku and Pogba good.

Poor from Sanchez and Martial. And needless red for Matic, thought he played well till then.

If they are going to say that, they might as well say Foster in the first half saved them from a tonking.

Think Sanchez is getting a bit better, but he is still off form. He tries. Martial really needs to take a look at himself.

A valuable three points against a good Watford side that fought hard. Smalling had a good game against Deeney who normally plays well against us. We needed Fellaini in there to do the rough stuff and he was my MOTM. Still not convinced about Lindelof whose positional play is still suspect. A couple of times in the second half he was on the wrong side of his player in the area and once played Valencia into trouble instead of booting it clear. Young did well overall as did Pogba who kept things ticking over nicely but he has to learn that he can't slow down play with fancy footwork upfield when there's an easy pass on. Sanchez and Lukaku got in each others' way a couple of times and Lingard ran into blind alleys instead of releasing early. Still, we often come unstuck after the international break so any kind of win is a big plus. Onward and upwards.

An important win against a team in form, but a very close game. We need to learn to kill games off, we always seem to give the other team a chance to come back in the game, at some point that will be punished.

That second half showed the weakness of a Pogba-Matic-Fellaini midfield. They are just too slow, once they stopped launching long balls at every opportunity, and actually play a passing game, they got complete control of the game.

Great result, overall a pretty good performance. Bit lethargic till the goals but after that played some slick football at times and hung on in there at the end to secure the three points.
If Fellaini has had a better game since coming to United I don't recall seeing it, Young and Smalling - great finish for his goal - also put in terrific shifts. Pogba played well in spells, Lukaku worked very hard and got his goal. DDG came up with that save at the end to guarantee the win.
A lot more positives than negatives overall. Something to build on hopefully.

One thing we seemed strangely poor at today, was having the ball in the attacking third centrally, trying to sweep a simple 15yard ball to the wide player and consistently underhitting it, meaning their fullback raced in and intercepted it.

Pogba a couple of times, McTominay both guilty of it, amongst a couple of others.

Aye aye captain obvious.

I am not happy with Sanchez, but have to admit, our attackers play well when he is on the pitch. His movement and link up helps the team.

But expect far more than that from him. Think a goal would really help him with his confidence.

Yes, Martial was very poor. Think he would have done better if we were playing like we were later in the first half. Even then, his nonchalant behaviour is a bit concerning.

Some of the comments on here complaining . Its like all they saw of the game was the last 25 minutes and base they comments on that. We were in total control and playing good football up until they scored. We are steadily improving game by game, why can’t people see that and be happy? Support your fecking team. I seriously doubt some of he posters on here are untied fans.

The hyperbole is even greater when others on the same team played better in the same game. And when that hyperbole is used for your goalkeeper repeatedly, it makes you look worse.

A game of 2 half’s really...We were very good in the 1st half, especially after we got the 1st goal some of our attacking play was just mesmerising. But we went off the boil after the break, but either way,we got 3 points at a tough place and we just need to keep Winning now...

Very very tough opponents Watford are and i'm happy we came away with a win. Lots of teams are going to struggle against them. Started little nervously and then settled down to control the game. Should have scored more goals. I'll take scraping a win like this in a tough away fixture.

Tbh I’m not sure how people can say this as definitively as they have been. He played 20 mins and his sample size was too small. People are talking as if he failed to control the ball everytime. Either that or they are taking that moron Keown literally who was accusing him of playing a poor pass over and over when it was Valencia.

Should've finished match in first half and then second play on autopilot, but our finishing really let us down. Smalling, De Gea, Lukaku, IMO, our three best players today, although everyone did their best!

Has Keown figures out the difference between Martial and Valencia yet?

Delighted with the win but christ almighty we should have been out of sight. Should be more clinical.

Fellaini sitting in front of the centre backs made Matic redundant imo. Generally a decent performance against a team that's been in great form, but clinging on for dear life at the end.
