True - but that's what you want your striker to do be able to do. pop up with a moment of brilliance and score goals like that.He was completely isolated and poor, that goal changed the game though.
His first half stats were laughably poor.
6 touches, 3 passes attempted and completed 1.
Well it's not a regular occurrence. It was probably his first volley.True - but that's what you want your striker to do be able to do. pop up with a moment of brilliance and score goals like that.
Nothing to do with the team. Even when Inter had 73% possession against Parma, he had 9 touches and completed 3 passes in 45 mins he played.I like this kinda player. Another proof that you don't need to be involved much to be decisive and it's unfair to blame him for the number of touches when his team, for most of the game, was absolutely abysmal.
If he touches the ball more, does it improve their chances to win games ? No one can tell but he can be decisive if the right ball is played to him. It's always interesting to have players like thatNothing to do with the team. Even when Inter had 73% possession against Parma, he had 9 touches and completed 3 passes in 45 mins he played.
Against Sassuolo, they had 62% possession, he had 17 touches and completed 8 passes in 90 mins.
He knows his limitations and plays to his strengths. Not the player I want to lead the line though.
Well I didn't say that, I was replying to your point " it's unfair to blame him for the number of touches when his team, for most of the game, was absolutely abysmal.".If he touches the ball more, does it improve their chances to win games ? No one can tell but he can be decisive if the right ball is played to him. It's always interesting to have players like that
I was talking about last night, it's unfair to criticize for that. The other games, maybe he deserves criticism but last night ? Definitely no.Well I didn't say that, I was replying to your point " it's unfair to blame him for the number of touches when his team, for most of the game, was absolutely abysmal.".
If he is involved more in the build up play then Inter will play with 10 outfield players rather than just 9.
He could have dropped deep and helped the team too. Also game wasn't like Celtic vs Barca. Inter had nearly as much possession.I was talking about last night, it's unfair to criticize for that. The other games, maybe he deserves criticism but last night ? Definitely no.
But you said yourself, he doesn't do that, that's not his game, so why would he do it all of sudden ? That's not taking into account whether it's a specific tactical instruction or notHe could have dropped deep and helped the team too. Also game wasn't like Celtic vs Barca. Inter had nearly as much possession.
This is his limitation and his biggest weakness. His overall game is average (tbf to him, it has improved in last few seasons), he is nearly useless in build up play which doesn't help his team.
Well I didn't say he should do that, I said he could have done it. Also my point was, his lack of involvement has nothing to do with Inter' game. He is same against any team. But you said yourself, he doesn't do that, that's not his game, so why would he do it all of sudden ? That's not taking into account whether it's a specific tactical instruction or not
Imagine how we'd feel with a striker who buried every chance he got.Great player, but definitely not what we need.
It feels like Lukaku is invisible in some of the big games, imagine how you'd feel with a striker that gets 3 touches a game.
Yeah, in Youtube he buries every chance he gets.Imagine how we'd feel with a striker who buried every chance he got.
Not a coincidence, just managers knowing how to get the best out of him. Certain players are rubbish when getting involved so they do it at a minimum. If managers had an issue with his lack of involvement, then surely they would asked him to change his game no ?Well I didn't say he should do that, I said he could have done it. Also my point was, his lack of involvement has nothing to do with Inter' game. He is same against any team.
Inter had so many coaches since Icardi was signed, would be such a coincidence if everyone gave the same tactical instruction.
He is what he is though, limited but lethal player. His goal scoring record is very good but his overall game to bring others into play is very average.
Well we are getting to the point now. So Inter's game has nothing to do with his lack of involvement? It's his limitations as a player. Not a coincidence, just managers knowing how to get the best out of him. Certain players are rubbish when getting involved so they do it at a minimum. If managers had an issue with his lack of involvement, then surely they would asked him to change his game no ?
Yeah, and he's not bad in real life either. Certainly better than our own who can't hit a barn door at the moment.Yeah, in Youtube he buries every chance he gets.
You're talking in general and I'm talking about last night specifically. Last night you cannot accuse him of being not involved when his team was terrible, in other games, it's a different story. I only ever was talking about last night.Well we are getting to the point now. So Inter's game has nothing to do with his lack of involvement? It's his limitations as a player.
Still he is one of their best players though, arguably the best as he scores shit loads of goals.
That's pretty shocking tbf.Nothing to do with the team.
Youtube is not simulation, its just compilation goals he scored. Yeah sure, when we watch every chance missed by Lukaku and just the goals scored by Icardi, surely Icardi buries every chance he gets.Yeah, and he's not bad in real life either. Certainly better than our own who can't hit a barn door at the moment.
Well we are going in circles now. Icardi's natural game is not to get involved in the build up play, so how Inter played last night has nothing to do with his lack of movement. You're talking in general and I'm talking about last night specifically. Last night you cannot accuse him of being not involved when his team was terrible, in other games, it's a different story. I only ever was talking about last night.
Even last night he completed 5 passes I think and 2 of them are from kick off. That's pretty shocking tbf.
I've watched him for Inter a few times and never really been impressed.
I live near Milan so I watch almost every game of his. He is lethal in and around the box. It's not just a highlight reel.Youtube is not simulation, its just compilation goals he scored. Yeah sure, when we watch every chance missed by Lukaku and just the goals scored by Icardi, surely Icardi buries every chance he gets.
So why criticize him for it ?Youtube is not simulation, its just compilation goals he scored. Yeah sure, when we watch every chance missed by Lukaku and just the goals scored by Icardi, surely Icardi buries every chance he gets.
Well we are going in circles now. Icardi's natural game is not to get involved in the build up play, so how Inter played last night has nothing to do with his lack of movement.
That's different from buries every chance. Just a game or 2 back, he missed chance from 4-5 yards from goal when Perisic crossed the ball.I live near Milan so I watch almost every game of his. He is lethal in and around the box. It's not just a highlight reel.
Well I wasn't criticizing him. I said it few years back that Icardi is limited player and I repeated the same thing and why I don't want players like him to lead the line. It's not criticism, it's opinion on player. So why criticize him for it ?
Grass, greener, always, not.Yeah, and he's not bad in real life either. Certainly better than our own who can't hit a barn door at the moment.
Oh I see now.Well I wasn't criticizing him. I said it few years back that Icardi is limited player and I repeated the same thing and why I don't want players like him to lead the line. It's not criticism, it's opinion on player.
I even said he is Inter's best player, very good goal scorer too.
Silent dominationGreat player, but definitely not what we need.
It feels like Lukaku is invisible in some of the big games, imagine how you'd feel with a striker that gets 3 touches a game.
It would be perfect - RVN was great we could really do with him now.Penalty box striker really (even if volley was outside the area!) Basically all that RVN was 20 years ago which given his impact at Man. United wouldn't be such a bad thing imo.
I agree with this. He's a talented finisher but his all round play is average and that is certainly not what we need right now. That's the type of player you need when you're creating a dozen chances each game and feck them up. That's not where we're at.That's different from buries every chance. Just a game or 2 back, he missed chance from 4-5 yards from goal when Perisic crossed the ball.
Well, I watch almost every Inter game too as they are my second favorite team. Icardi is good goal scorer but limited player. He is lethal in the box, not in and around the box. Probably he scored 2-3 goals from outside the box in his Inter career.
I’d rather keep Lukaku to be honest. For me he’s the better player. He's world class. If Lukaku doesn't improve this season, we should be in for him.
He's the hero United deserves, but not the one it needs right now.I agree with this. He's a talented finisher but his all round play is average and that is certainly not what we need right now. That's the type of player you need when you're creating a dozen chances each game and feck them up. That's not where we're at.
