That's just naive. I am a big a fan of Greenwood as anyone here. But let's be realistic.

Ok there aren't any Razor Ruddock's or Chopper Harris anymore but they are still big fast and physical still.

If some International defender like Lindeloff still can't handle the physicality of the League yet, what makes you think a 16y.o lad will be able to handle defenders who will brush him off the ball if not hack the hell out of his legs to say 'welcome to the big time!'

Gomes has a more mature game and yet you dont see them pushing him up to the seniors anytime soon. They know a 5ft 3in kid needs to find his own way of coping with much larger players like how Messi did if he is to make a career in England. After what happened to Possebon and how he crawled into his own shell after that tackle, you dont need that to happen again especially for these more talented players.

There is no point rushing the kid. Maybe in a couple of years' time -- there is already a log-jam at the forward positions.
Messi was in the Barca first team at 17. Gomes is 18.

Greenwood looked like one of the youngsters who didn’t struggle in the summer with seniors football, although he didn’t play much.

I think that answers the question. Jose or Angel's coaches much know something.

I was referring to Greenwood, and I think what they know is that the seniors were priority for minutes in pre-season, that’s all.

That reserve side he was in was a joy to watch. I agree with you, he was a special talent and without those injuries would have been one of the best in Europe.
I remember raving about him and then we signed Tevez and was gutted he left. Quality young player and at that time USA were gushing about Adu but they should have been crying cause he could have been Americas best ever player. Hopefully Mason can keep going and break into the first team when the times right.

Dunno why he isn't being promoted to the U23s?

Surely playing more 18s isn't doing him that good anymore.

Those 2 goals and 2 assists are all superb. This is as excited as I've been for a young player in a long time.

I honestly wouldn't be surprised to see him on the bench as a reward against Derby.
it's not van Gaal

Isn't his 17th birthday any time now? Is that when a pro deal will/ won't be signed? Hope he doesn't follow the Sancho route to Germany

We would have known long before now if he were not going to sign, and he would have been treated accordingly. He’ll be staying, probably all agreed.

I thought as much. A nightmare to defend against. Seems to be excellent at finding space to get a shot off. Has he always been a striker? (not that it matters much in that age group, just curious)
Think he played as a number 10 at some point before he moved up to the u18s and only started playing as a striker last season, I never saw him at u16 level so don't quote me on that.

Finally we get to see him in reserves. Hope more to come. Great through ball from Gomez there and anticipated perfectly by Mason.

Thought he was great last night against a fair few 'men' in the Wolves side! Just oozes class, great anticipation and reading of the game! Will not be long before the first team comes calling!

Top prospect.

From what I've seen (which isn't anywhere near as much as some on here) I reckon Greenwood and Tuanzebe are the most likely to make it in the first team squad in the next few years.

Don't forget Gomes and Garners, they are one of the most intelligent players and have impressive passing...

How is he? Compared to Rashford for example...
Better technically in pretty much every regard. He’s as two footed as you’ll see, a good dribbler and a really good finisher, like really precise so he can score without much power. He isnt as quick as Rashford.

If he has the character to make an impact in senior football like Rashford and sustain success at the top level is a different matter

Greenwood just executes with more quality largely because he's just better technically. Greenwood's finishing is also better at the equivalent level, but I can't call it better as of now because Rashford is at first team level.

I think he will surprise a lot of people when he steps up. Just has that arrogance about his play, he knows he's that good.

I haven't seen him play but sounds very promising. When do people think he's ready to have a taste of Premier League football?

As much as I don't want to be excited and disappointed by another academy player I do have hopes for Greenwood.

Unless all the strikers are injured like what happened to Van Gaal's tenure, we won't be seeing him soon.

He will be allowed to grow his core strength before that final push imo.

Possibly another 2 seasons if he stays fit.

I would play this kid now up top
And I would also play Gomes now in deep lying midfield

I don’t give a shit about age. We are shite up top and possibly the slowest team ever at moving the ball around midfield

Play them
