I just finished watching all 4 seasons of this.

AMAZING show, one of the most brutal I've ever seen. The battle scenes were brilliant, the characters were good, I was finding myself rooting for different sides all the time. Sometimes the vikings lose, some times victory is hard to define, much like real wars.

Blood Eagles are awesome and grotesque in equal measure.

---

On a side note. Where any of you taught about the ancient kingdoms of Britain at school? It's fascinating. I can't believe they skipped that bit and focused months on world war 2 and the suffragettes.

Yep brilliant show.

I was taught a little bit about them yes. But we're obviously going to concentrate on more recent history to us because it's more relevant and important to know.

I guess it's personal choice. I was always intrigued by stories of kings and ancient empires. Even now when i'm watching shows like this, i'll be sat on wikipedia reading about the backgrounds.

No discussion for the past few episodes, lame, although i'm guilty myself.

Great finale and i'm happy snake-eye is dead, he was the one brother I didn't like. Ubbe, for me now, is Ragnar, but without the anger outside of battle, he looks like him and acts like him when fighting, they cast him perfectly, i'm glad to see my earlier dislike of his casting has changed

Love Ivar, dude is great.
None of Ragnars sons are worthy of him. They all lack leadership skills.

There is an old Pakistani saying, "the children of fire are ash". It means the children of great men are often not so great themselves. Perhaps it's because the father is too busy achieving fame/fortune to be a proper father? Perhaps it's because the children are soft because they don't have to endure to get to the top, they were born to the top? Either way i think it rings true in the sons of Ragnar.

Together they would have been a force to be reckoned with but that requires personal sacrifice and compromise. They atained victory not only through numbers but also through good tactics and working together.

If it were up to me they should have sent Sigurd back with some soldiers to help protect Kattegat (coz it seems to be attacked every time they're away). The rest should have then chased aethulwolf and killed him and his army, raiding along the way, stealing wealth, slaves and killing fighting age men. That way they'd neutralise the threat in England. Only after that they should have split and left a standing army to guard the East Anglian territory, sent another to the med, and the rest go back with all the plundered loot. Also with an army that large they could have tried taking on Rollo again if they wanted.

Good fun as usual. Am I the only one who thinks Lagertha is getting progressively hotter as the series moves on?

Some good battle gore in that one. Quite like Floki traipsing around in that big woolly coat looking like a madman and talking to the gods, too.

Thursdays are turning out to be quite fun. Mr Robot and Vikings.

It's about the Templars and their eventual downfall, it's got killing, swords, sex, the main actor is Welsh, it has Marcus Crassus from Spartacus.
I love that kind of stuff to be honest.
I second every single one of those reasons to watch.

Fair play. I'm sold. I'll give it a go.

Knightfall is abjectly terrible. The writing is bad. The acting is so-so at best. The plot is hilariously bad. It has nothing of what makes Vikings good. Vikings has a fun story, that is based more and more on actual history (Ragnar being semi mythological to his "sons" and the great heathen army being actual history). The acting is good, the writing is good.

Knightfall is basically a histo-drama wrapped up in all the worst possible action adventure tropes you could possibly imagine. Episode 3 is especially egregious, and its what I had to stop watching because it was sooooooooooooo bad.

Oh, and I really wanted to like it.

Been some decent moments in this series but pointless filler, Flokis story I find dull as feck.
The Africa section was extremely underwhelming.
The York scenes were decent.
Didnt like the finale though although it was good to see Rollo

I feel like the whole Sons of Ragnar story was pretty tedious. Would much rather see more on Bjorn in the Mediteranean / Africa. Perhaps a link to the Varangian guard?

Vikings is amazing. I imagine if it was produced by Netflix, Showtime or HBO it would get more recognition and world wide acclaim. Simply fantastic!

It's a good show, personally enjoyed it a little less as time went on though.

I just don't know if it's for me. I love period shows but I'm more of a Rome kind of guy, than Spartacus. Is it as silly as the latter? You know what I'm talking about.

I just finished Peaky Blinders and I'm looking at The Crown, Deadwood, and this.

So, I got through the first season. It's not very good although it works better than it should. I mostly finished it so that I could get to the next season, which is supposedly better.

The acting is distractingly bad at times and the pacing is off in some episodes but that doesn't bother me that much. What does is the awfully written characters and their (lack of) development.
