Someone expected something different?

Our defense is horrible.
Matic as irregular as ever ... and Herrera had a very bad game
Lukaku no more contribution than the penalty

My best player was Fellaini ... and that's very depressing

Atrocious football.

A rich mans stoke. Somehow still had a small window of opportunity to pull it back in the second half but continued to hoof it instead of playing.

Just waiting for Mourinho to leave/get the boot. Pointless season at this stage.

With Pogba we could have got something. City were rattled. Also Sterling was an absolute tosspot at the end
Think so, we had the opportunity for the (undeserved) momentum swing, we just lacked any quality to do it

Ashley young was just terrible. Not a brain cell. Just kept hitting aimless long balls.

Rashfords attitude stank to the high heavens as well.

For the players we have, we should be much better.

Flattering score line. Should have been one of city’s usual 6-0s. Pogba would have made this a much different game

No plan B. Fellaini should never start for United again unless as an impact sub. Matic and Lukaku looks like turtles when they play. Fred should have started and Mourinho tactics failed United. We can’t win trophies like this man. Our football needs to improve 10x

We've got a long long way to reach where they are, worryingly I can't see it happening.

We should aspire to play like city. Instead we played like proper underdogs trying to ruin someones party with a smash n grab.

Really disappointed with Jose. 10 minutes to go, trailing 2-1, and we are sitting on the edge of our box hoping City give it back to us. No attempt to press, no attempt to force a mistake, praying we can buy a set peice. 40 odd passes in the build up to that goal, and not one player was rushed.

1 shot on target all game and that was a gifted pen. Not good enough.

Win, draw or lose is really hard not to hate this cowardly shiit of football we're being served.

City weren't all that good today, yet they looked miles ahead of us nonetheless, we hardly challenged them even when we were one behind.

The result's not entirely his fault but Matic needs dropping, he's costing us goals and Mourinho's persistence is a tightening noose around his neck. That aside, we were pretty poor. We just give teams way too much respect, City are obviously better than us but even so no United side should act like they're better than us.

We've got some favourable fixtures coming up in the near future so the result sucks but it ain't the end of the world. We badly missed Pogba.

We are shit, its appalling how far we’ve fallen in recent years.

City though, still a plastic club who can feck off.

Defense really needs to take a long hard look at itself.

Shaw, Young, Matic, De Gea. Sleepwalking.

Shaw in particular was infuriating.

Lindeloff, good job.

Factoring how they spent £1trn while United can barely string scraps together, the fans are spoilt even expecting United to challenge them. Gratitude should be shown to Jose for even somehow getting the players out there to kick a ball, considering how disadvantaged he is.
Gratitude for picking Matic over Pereira? Gratitude for picking Lingard over Mata? Gratitude for not coaching any attacking play into our team?

Better attack, better midfield, better defence, better bench, better manager and better way of playing.

The fact that we're only 12 points behind them flatters us. The goal difference (-1 vs +31) is a fairer reflection of where both teams are at.

Taking the next corner instead of Jones!
:lol::lol::lol: Started this already

Post match started with the Pogba news (not for me but there you go!)

Fellaini doing nothing and staying on is the decisive factor for me changing my Jose in to Jose out … he will never be a United manager!

He needs to go NOW!

You didn't have to be Nostradamus to see that defeat coming. Jose is making it hard for me to even care any more.

We’re just not very good. I hope that one day we can compete with City, but right now we’re a long way off. Jose whatever, it goes deeper than him as far as I’m concerned. It’s a depressing state but I’m used to it by now.

Lost it in midfield, purely because the gulf in class between our midfield was so evident. Not like they didn’t try, bar Matic for that last goal, just not good enough.

Thought the ref was shit. How the feck did Fernandinho not get booked.

Indeed am not that disheartened. City were feeling the pressure and got their third against a knackered team playing their third away game this week.

The height of our ambition was to turn up and not get hammered , and I think we just about managed that. So not a bad day overall , Jose will be pleased enough.

Rubbish performance, and an uphill climb to finish top 4 already. Honestly, we look no nearer a top quality side than when Mourinho arrived.

Ugh, difference between 2 clubs is pretty big. One can only hope it won't be like that for long. Although I wouldn't bet on it if they will be allowed to spend and bend the rules.

We just let them stroke it around under no pressure. At least kick them and get a couple of yellow cards. That way you make them think twice when they're on the ball.

No pressure and they can just pick a pass from several options who also aren't being marked tightly enough.

Where was the fight from our team?

Shaw, Lingard, Young, Herrera, Matic, De Gea, Smalling. All P**s poor today. You dont win games and claw your way back into the top 4 with 6 players playing so bad

I'd say the very worst thing about the state we're in is how a result like this doesn't really bother me anymore; there's no anger, just indifference, because it's expected. Used to be that a bad result like this would affect me for days. Not anymore.

More than half the team couldn't even manage to do the basics, like control the ball, retain possession, track runners.

Herrera's performance was incredible. To stand out in amongst such an array of shocking performances is really something. No idea how he stayed on the pitch so long.

Lingard and Rashford were terrible. Shaw at fault again. Matic asleep for their 3rd goal. Lindelof and De Gea at fault for their 2nd.

We need a big clear-out, manager, players that are too old, players that aren't good enough. Start again.

Didn't look forward to this one, even less so with Pogba totally out, and Sanchez only fit enough for the bench.
Actually made more of a game of it then expected, but well off the pace overall.

Only positives are Liverpool trailing by 2 points, and not having to play City again for ages!

Got pretty much schooled by a team way above our level. We had a window of opportunity, but we couldn't take it. If Jose still cant see the futility of playing Matic week after week and mid-week, then there is nothing anyone can do about it.

At least Chelsea and Arsenal dropped points this weekend. Could be worse. Was already numb to this fixture given the chasm in ability right now.

Man united goal difference -1

Man City goal difference +31
31? That can't be correct, surely?

As for this match, we need a change and its evident once again. Mourinho needs to go, he is simply unable to build the team we need to be. And I'd say that Woodward has to be removed form footballing matters as well.

Missed Pogba big time today, don't know if the result would have been different but he would have at least created 2 or 3 big moments in the game which might have been enough.

Collectively shat our pants once we managed to get a lifeline with the penalty, we weren't great before that but the amount of unforced errors and daft decisions after pulling one back was phenominal.

The most disappointing thing this afternoon was that our worst period came after scoring. We couldn't string two passes together at a time when we should have smelled blood.

-1 goal difference with almost a third of the league gone. Shows that even our wins have been unconvincing, scrappy things.

Didn't even feel like a derby. No passion, no drive. At least get stuck in a bit and play with a bit of pride. It's embarrassing.

Rate Pep for telling off Sterling at the end.

All very meaningless against City isn't it. Like trying to win the 100m against Ben Johnson or the Tour against Lance Armstrong.

That said, we can't affect what happens to City. We can only affect what we do, and at the moment we have the wrong manager and a load of average players.

Hopefully Mou goes at the end of the year and we get rid of Matic, Herrera, Young and Lingard - or at least bring in better players to relegate them to the bench.
