People saying no to fecking Toni Kroos :houllier:
We need to look beyond superstars who have little to prove, we’ve had very little success with them over the last few seasons.

The reality is that we have had very little success with anybody over the last few seasons, old, young, proven, unproven.

I'd say no on the basis that he isnt what is needed next to Pogba. He'd have to be an alternative to him. By now we know Pogba isnt going to do much defensively so whoever is playing next to him will have to do most of the heavy lifting defensively. Kroos needs help defending. The only Madrid CM that does his defending independently is Casemiro. So he's the only one I'd have any interest in us signing to play in the team with Pogba.

Would be all for it, but Kroos/Pogba midfield would need a mobile ball winner behind them.

Kroos would in effect be Matics replacement.

Are you the ref?
I heard the interview on Talksport where Moyes said that he thought that Tony Kroos was coming to United because he had met with him for dinner and everything.

I can't have been the only one who thought 'Yes David, maybe him meeting you was when the doubts started to set in'

I know I am a horrible person

I was actually only thinking about this today - apparently Moyes had met with Kroos and his wife with a view to him signing in 13/14 however I always that it was assumed that it was arranged for the following summer (when he actually left) but LvG vetoed it / Kroos rejected us for Real.

It’d probably work if we also signed a mobile, tackling and interception machine to sit behind. Someone like Gueye, or Ndidi. Signing two central midfielders is totally not viable though, we clearly have limited funds and there are other positions of urgency.

This is the guy we should try for. He may fancy a new challenge if we can somehow convince him we are signing several other top players to turn things around.

This guy has dropped massively from one day to another. A bit like Lukaku.

World Cup fatigue, or a Schweinsteiger decline?

Surely that goal deserves a bump?

Will be interesting how his season goes. It's a very important one for him, his last one was probably his worst since his break through and the one before that was average by his (fairly high) standards. If he has another mediocre season, more and more people will say he's past his best and it even may cost him his position in the national team. I think he's still one of the best CMs around and since his style isn't reliant on physical abilities, he can probably maintain his level up until his mid 30s but let's see.

He’d be an awful signing. Well past it and lost any athleticism he had. Would be similar to the Bastian signing, which didn’t work out. Someone like Neves or Aouer (sp) would be much better.

I just found he is only 29. Though he will be much older than this. He's past his peak but definitely several good few years in him.

I think we’ve seen sense and decided to stop these sort of signings. About time too.

He's also won everything there is to be won, so unless he wants a final try in the premier league his motivation might not be very high. I expect him to retire early, he invests a lot of time in his charitable work through a foundation.

My bad, used the search function and thought this thread was in the football section. Wouldn't have bumped it if I had seen it was in the transfer forum. Sorry.
