Strange as it probably sounds, the results & performances bother me less than Mourinho's personality; virtually everything he says and does comes from a negative place.
Totally agree with this. It's the same issue I had with Moyes frankly.

Anyone can be bad at their job - being a complete tosser as well is just infuriating.

I fear that Woodward does not seem the type to learn from his mistakes and we will get rid of Mourinho only to go for another big name whose peak was many years ago.

@KirkDuyt @Kevin, does Van Bommel look like a coach with high potential?
Don't know yet really. So far he's the same Van Bommel everyone used to hate on the pitch. He faked a gentleman act for about 2 weeks, but that mask slipped rather quickly. You could call it a winner's mentality, but most people call it being a cnut.

Though that's not neccesarily a bad thing I suppose.

Hmmm that's interesting, I can almost imagine it.

I'd take Simeone.

He's a mad mad dog himself, has a nose for good players, likeable character.
If the fanbase is in turmoil & revolt at the moment it certainly would be if we hired that negative t*sser as manager. I cannot think of anyone worse.

Conte? No thanks we've had enough of Chelsea rejects . We need to stay well away from their managers and players.
And simeone would be even worse . Can't believe some would entertain the idea of Simeone . Watching his team play is an eyesore

Why oh why would anyone want Conte or Simeone. Attacking football is what the club needs. We tried 2 defensive managers, didnt work. Lets start playing the United way again. Poch or Allegri would be my choice.

Eddie howe or why not look at former Leipzig manager Ralph Hasenshuttl or wait until after the season and try to get Frankfurt coach Adi Hutter.
All three of them want their team to play attacking football and they also know how to build a team.
Hasenshutti looks to be on the way to Southampton to replace Hughes...

I don't think we, or anyone for that matter, are winning the league till Pep stays in the premier league. He is on a different level altogether & has built a juggernaut at City. So with that in mind, I would like a young manager who is willing to build us again along with a top Dof for the next two or three years. We should look for someone who plays attacking football, has a good temperament, has an eye for talent, believes in building through youth & stays true to the traditions of the club. Enough of this trying to find a ready made solution to achieve instant success. I won't mind a period with no trophies as long as there is enough improvement in each and every department of our club and can ultimately puts us in a position to win the big two prizes after the build up period.

The only managers who I am aware of who I think are capable are Poch and Jardim. However, I am sure there are other names, like mentioned in this thread, who fulfill the criteria. I would be happy as long as proper due diligence is done this time before making the appointment. No need to rush to Zidane or Ancelotti or Alegri or the likes for the next appointment. In fact, I would be disappointed if it's Ancelotti just because he is a "proven winner". We need a young, modern manager to take us forward. If we mess the next appointment, I think we'll be staring at a Liverpool like decline.

I want a young manager with an attacking mindset and a good eye for talent. Perfectly happy to give the right man a few years to build something as long as there is clear progression and plenty of entertainment.

No more dullards like van Gaal and Mourinho, and no more dour faced losers like Moyes.

Anyone who’s saying we’ll go for a manager who’s already at another club (poch-simeone) your talking shite. We’ve already established the club only care about finances there’s not a chance they are going to pay another manager out of his contract at the club he’s already at.

For some reason we "always" seem to find ourselves in a situation where we have to change the manager the best alternatives already are taken. It happened with Moyes. Of course Sir Alex had earned the right to quit when he wanted, but in retrospect it was at the worst time to do so. One year earlier or one year later, things might have looked very different today.
If we had decided to get rid off Mourinho this time last year we could and would have probably gone for Sarri or even Emery.
Now the buffet of managers out there seems pretty empty come next summer when we really need to find an offensive manager, who can handle the pressure at United and while rebuilding the team can attract top players as well. The latter part is maybe the most important.
Conte and Simeone should be disqualified just by the type of football they represent. Simeone also does not speak one word of English.
As someone said: if Tuchel fails with PSG; he might be attainable. He seems to have handled the pressure at PSG quite OK, that was always the issue for me with him. It will be worse at United though.
If not him I would take a long hard look at Marco Silva.
We just dont seem to get the timing right with these managerial switches though.

sorry Johan. I simply could not resist this. Jose is very offensive too. To almost everyone he is offensive.

They clearly never watched Atletico play.

You can add Allegri to that list too

Adi Hutter is someone we should look at too. He's currently at Frankfurt in Germany and Bayern will probably move for him soon.

He's a 48 year old who is a forward thinking coach that has his teams playing a very attractive style of football. Bayern had him on their short list before they finally opted for Kovac.

I would like to go for Favre though he is 61.
He won't leave Dortmund now, said it before here, I wouldn't be surprised if this is his last big coaching job. There is a reason why at aged 61 he's never coached outside a German or French speaking country. He isn't going to start now.

What is the reason he hasn't coached in a non German or French country?

Cos he's comfortable with the languages I guess! He's from the French speaking part of Switzerland, but also quite fluent in German. He's been coaching for over 25 years, yet has never made any moves to coach in the UK. Never say never of course, but I would be really susprised if he suddenly decided to do it.

Defensive or not, Allegri is a great manager but he doesn't work without a DOF as he has no personality in front of the board or in the market. If we put him in charge of everything here like we're doing it'll end miserably. Bring him + DOF and he'll do well.

I would be tempted to convince Molde to give us Ole Solskjaer. Knows the club, been a manager for quite a few years now, winning titles in Norway. Had time to forget with Cardiff but with all due respect, the resources we have cant compare with Cardiff. Thoughts?

Molde last won the league in 2014 and I'm convinced it would end in tears.

Any Favre talk is silly.

Just picking up a 61 year old manager who has never enjoyed great success anywhere because his Dortmund team is doing well.

Remember when The Caf wanted Jardim?

Well he's off to manage in Saudi Arabia.

This forum really is the gift that keeps on giving.

His football is no way near as bad as Simeone and co.
I don't really care if it's a little better. The bottom line is, his teams play a very conservative style and I want a manager with some cojones at United to bring back some exciting football.

Don't want another fake hard arse so voted for Jardim or would even take Eddie Howe. Poc is in love with Spurs and don't think is within reach especially with Levy in charge. May even consider Giggs to bring some stability to the club, which is what we need right now.
