He's a fecking idiot. Big heart but not good enough.

Bag him and Phil Jones together and put them on a raft out to sea somewhere.

First game back for a long time. Showed more defensive attributes in 70mins than lindelof has ever shown in a red shirt but made a few mistakes (expected after a lengthy time out). Great to have him back.

Cost a goal and should have been sent off. He will always be a liability.

Just like Phil Jones, sicknote who finally returns. When he is finally fit, a mediocre player who has a goal costing mistake in him every game. Luckily, will be out injured for 6 months within a week

The Nutty Professor! Hard to be too harsh on him as I think that was his first game this season.

Bit harsh on Rojo there. He played quite well and contributed more to our attacking play than any of the other defenders. Wish more players played with his intensity. Would still have him in the starting XI.

Mistake aside, I thought he was pretty good. He strikes a ball pretty well too.

Sadly I don't think he'll make it with us as he always has a clanger in him, like Bailly, but at least Eric has age on his side.

Managed to do a great Pogba impression. Was alright other than that but I'm never confident in him.

He has not played for such a long time. Remember it was his free kick that we scored our first goal. He played alright for such a long lay off.

Back to normal so quickly after such a long time out. Excellent for 89 minutes and heavily involved in both our goals, and in the remaining minute cost us one and tried his best to get sent off. I'd expect nothing less.

I actually think with a calming presence like a Rio next to him he'd be a bloody good defender for us.

Would of pissed myself with laughter if he’d scored the free kick.

Love Rojo. His quality is debatable but he’s hilarious to watch.

He was actually having a really good game until he decided to give the goal away. He's got ability, just too often he'll do needless shit thinking he is Beckenbauer. Playing on the front foot and with aggression on the left side he was instrument to most of the exciting stuff we played today.

Thought for certain he had got himself sent off with that tackle too.

For his first game this season he did alright. No doubt tiredness was behind his mistake for their second goal. Certainly saw enough from him tonight to think we should give him a run of games.

Rafael,Bailly,Rojo and Evra would have been a fun back 4 to watch, as long as you lack a heart condition, weak bowels or a nervous disposition.

Had a hand in 3 of the 4 goals, not bad for his first game back.

Our best CB. No debate in my opinion
This is not the Smalling thread. Eric is number 2. I thought he did alright but we saw the good and the bad in equal measure. He's a liability. That poor pass that led to Arsenal's attack for their second goal and his erractic tackle to try and make up for it were inexcusable.

If he stays fit I can see us gaining a lot of ground on city. Maybe if he’s fit for the start of next season he can be the bedrock of a title winning defense. I think he’s that good, honestly

Its defensively rash, mindless performances like today that make Lindelof and Jones look good when the reality is we have a marginally above average defence.
A defence that wouldn't look out of place lining up for Stoke City.

What are you playing at? As soon as we get a new manager these players are going to be coached out of this world. Trust me, a back 4 of valencia, smalling, Jones and young is going to be impregnable we just need the right manager and coaching tactics

He needs games. He had a period a while ago when he played around a dozen games and he looked class.

He is strong, big hearted and very good on the ball, but just has those stupid mistakes in him. Those only go away with a long string of games.

Same happened with Vida, Rio, Smalling, Lindelof or any other CB. ( stones, hell even Kompany had some big howlers)

If you played a bit of footie you will know. Defenders and GKs that do not play a lot of games will be rusty.

I'm surprised that half this fecking forum has such a bad reaction towards the guy.

His first game in what seems like forever and only just after returning from injury. Not surprised to see he made a mistake. Barring that he was very good and showed more then other defenders have all season. Hope we stick with him.

Feel a bit sorry for him, he was having a decent game up until that point.

This guy is injured so much that he always gets passes like this from posters like you whenever he makes mistakes, which is a lot of times. He's a red card waiting to happen

Apart from one moment of madness, he had good game. Shame though as that moment was so important.

In the end his mistake didn't cost us. We wouldn't have scored the 2nd goal off the kick off if we didn't have a kick off. My old boss used to say "if you're going to f*ck up, f*ck up big, because it's the little mistakes that p*ss me off" and Rojo's mistake tonight was definitely a big one. He's just getting his feet back...I've never been his biggest fan, but I won't be critical of him for that mistake, especially because he played well for the rest of the game, and when he did make that mistake, he busted a gut to try and make up for it and was unlucky not to make the tackle. I wish other players on our team showed the same determination after they make a mistake...

If that ball didn't go in the ref was probably going to award a penalty. It wasn't a tackle it was a desperate lunge.

That was a perfectly fine tackle by Rojo. Slid around and swept in front with his laces coming in first. He actually kicked the ball against Lacazette. Absolutely nothing wrong with his tackle...

I'll have to watch it again as I thought there was contact. If it was a perfectly executed tackle in any case it wouldn't have resulted in the ball ending up in the net and beating his own keeper. It was a shambles

He lived with the game because it really was about as crazy as him. We played well and his style and heart played its part in it being an entertaining game, but if you actually look at that performance in isolation, its not good. Actually when you consider his feck up that cost us a goal, it's rather terrible. His defending lacks in so many areas, and his quality on the ball is as wild and inconsistent as his tackles. I have about as much hope for him to become a rational defender as I have in Smalling becoming a playmaking genius. I don't think he can change himself and sort out these issues just because of more game time, I think that has become clear when we look at his good to bad games ratio at this club.

Never said it was perfectly executed. I said it was perfectly fine, aka perfectly legal. EIther way, that wasn't the point of my post...

Two moments of madness. That tackle could be given as a red. Would be harsh but still, it was reckless.

Actually was surprisingly solid beside the horrible mistake. Baffling to be honest, but a surprising situation none the less.

What can you say about him? A red card walking but love his attitude and commitment. I believe there's a top LCB in there. Whether we see that at utd is another question. A bit like Bailly he needs a run of games to cool down. Being sidelined for so long doesn't help a player like him. It's a bit like letting a lion out for the kill.

"Had a good game" should've been sent off, as always. He is so poor I'm being provoked when people are rating him. Always a mistake, always a red card waiting to happen. He plays for Manchester United, not Bury. His new contract is one of the weirdest thing ever at a top football club.

Made a big mistake but that's no reason to forget all the good he did in the game.

I enjoyed his aggression to both drive forward and win the ball back. Strong in the tackle and in the air as always and give his all.

He'll always be a bit rash but that comes with playing with your heart on your sleeve. Prefer that to some soulless robot who doesn't seem to care who he's playing for or against. Hope he can stay fit.
