I have a feeling a lot of fans would want us to lose tonight if it meant Mourinho would get the sack sooner. Because they hate him more than they love United. This is where some are now.
I think this is far too simplistic a way of looking at it.

Sometimes, people will sacrifice the short term for the greater good. Sure, one defeat tonight would have hurt tonight but does a draw really do anything but delay the inevitable? It's not just about hating Mourinho, but thinking that it would be best for your club if he was to go now before the season was a total write off.

I remember kind of just wanting the killing blow to come when we had AVB. It's more painful just limping by week after week with the manager hanging on but clearly not really able to turn it around.

It's actually quite funny that Mourinho could still argue to Woodward that he's still not mathematically out of top four contention.

Because by every other measurement and bit of logic, it's game over now already. We were fecking top of the table under Van Gaal near this stage in his final season and still finished 5th on GD.

We have no chance from where we are now. For all intents and purposes, we are out of it.

Dig up stupid!
Problem is by March he'll have pissed off every player worth his salt.
Indeed.
I think the problem is that woody has made it clear that Jose was his man, scrapping the Giggs-Lvg succession plan in order to give him the job.
Dumping mou reflects just as badly on woody so I think he'll keep him longer than most would seem necessary purely for self preservation purposes

By March if not before. Will have a spectacular pout if we buy him no one in January. Then he'll go into a sulk and not give a shite. Fight with everyone and we'll start losing left and right.

He will go because he won't be getting top four. Even if he did, his toxic ass should still be out.

When does the bear shit in the woods?

When we are definitely out of the top 4.

Then we can once again spend a season in the Europa, scrape a top 4 finish, buy poorly and jump back on the carousel.

We have a balance sheet full of toxic assets that no one wants to touch. It will take a feckload of money to get right and at least 4-5 seasons.

April 2nd, when we finally are mathematically out of CL contention, after having been so since october.

Should be soon but wont be until we are out of the champions league in terms of qualifying.

He won't be sacked til its mathematically impossible to qualify for the top four. That's how the club does it now. I'm almost hoping that's the case sooner rather than later. The future looks pretty drab under mourinho. Players won't be allowed to express themselves. He's gradually become George Graham. I'll be hugely disappointed if he's here next season.

After Wolves on the 6th April we'll have five games left. I'd be surprised if we're not 15 points from top 4 at that point, so it will be then unless we're still in the FA cup or by some miracle the CL.

I suspect once top 4 has mathematically gone and when Woodward has someone else in place. This is barring an extreme set of results like losing 3 on the trot to teams outside the top 4. So a set of extremely crap results rather than the current crap results.

Obviously only when Top 4 is mathematically impossible - as this is the clause we put into contracts and then cling to in order to save the Glazers / Woodward some money.

Also, on a brighter note, I believe many of the players are still playing for him - Martial, Herrera, Matic, Rojo, Shaw, Rashford, Smalling, Bailly, Lingard are all on board with him still, probably a few more too.

The caveat to Mourinho staying til toward the end of the season, is that I think Pogba will be sold in January...

April 2019. Out of CL, out of top 4 mathematically. Until then we will be floating somewhere between 6th and 10th, fans praying for some of our key players to stay put with us.

The players know that JM will not be here next season. So they are playing for their own future(Contract, next manager etc) or because they have some sense of pride(Herrera) or they are fans of the club(Lingard and Rashford).
Bailly, Smalling and Rojo will do the same mistakes regardless of playing for their manager or not.

Pogba will not be sold in Januray. If it does not work next season under a different manager, then maybe. Main reason Pogba acts more like a child than usual is likely because he is trying to get rid of JM now, as he has been trying for some time.

It won't be that long. Honestly thought the Arsenal game would be key.

Yeah, basically this.

So you're basically going with the narrative that every single player is against him and the ones who are still playing with passion are definitely only doing so because of other reasons than wanting to play for him?

I'm not going along with that. Things are rarely that black and white.

There will be some players who like him, and like playing for him.

When Porto knock us out of the last 16 and Mourinho tell fans they should be use to this as he once ran down the touchline knocking us out before.

The fans would still probably applaud him off the pitch too.

His crap talks have not got him a sack yet. Looks like he will have to start calling player names publicly and then maybe Woodward will sack him with full compensation, just like he would want.

He lost the respect of certain players long ago by slating them publicy, he's almost certainly not got the full backing of the dressing room.

Its been apparent for a very long time that the players don't fully buy into his tactics/style of play.

He shouldn't be our manager, i'd sack him immediately.

Logically, it will be after January. I can see 1 xCB coming in. It would be worthwhile selling Pogba asap as well

Not saying every player is against him, but one can still perform one the pitch while not playing for the manager. And yes, not black and white. Some players might be neutral and some players might like playing under JM.
My main point was that the players most likely "know" that JM will not be their manager next season. Some of the players are adults and professionals and tries to perform regardless of circumstances, and others are like kids sulking in the media and trying to either get rid of the manager or force a move away to another club.

I presume you mean April 2019. I hope he does not last that long. I think generally, most fans feel worse about United now than they did anytime under Moyes and LVG. I know I do. If Ed stays with Jose until January, he really can't have any complaint over where we end up finishing.

You are right mate. A typo on my side. Unfortunately, Ed will stick with Jose for a while, and we will stick with Ed for quite a while...

If we get to January and we don’t spend any money, and Mourinho stays surely the fans have to stop going to games?

We are the laughing stock of world football right now but the Glazers and Woodward don’t seem to care. If they care about brand image surely all this negativity doesn’t sell new sponsorship deals? It certainly makes player recruitment harder, especially when our numpty manager keeps signing players then leaving them on the bench.

I'm more going off the back of how we justified getting rid of Moyes and LVG. We surely put clauses in our managers' contracts for that - Jose will be the same.
I mean how can he make the same mistake 3 times?!? The blokes a moron.
