Called him for the golden boot in a thread at/before the start of the season. Looks like I might've been right. Him &/or Lacazette get into any XI that isn't City's right now.

Arsenal needed him a couple of seasons ago when they had a chance of winning the league, particularly the year that Leicester won it. Aubameyang has been as good as any forward in Europe for some time. I'm not sure why Real Madrid didn't go for him more strongly.

People really underrated his finishing ability calling him a tap in striker. He couldn't have been successful at Dortmund without having good technique and he has proven that at Arsenal. Some great goals and also making moves to the wings and playing passes, his movement off the ball is fantastic.

He was brilliant in Germany and i wanted him here, at least as an option, his pace is electrifying. I didn't see him turning out to be this good though.

Lacazette I'm less convinced about.

Can’t knock his stats but feck me he was peripheral last night. Literally can’t remember him doing anything apart from that one tap in he missed. Have to wonder if people will continue to rave about him now this freak run of every shot on target going in has come to an end.

He forced two absolutely top class saves out of De Gea. Not bad for what was a relatively quiet game for him.

He also put in some solid work defensively.

Back in the summer of 2017 when us and Chelsea were fighting for Morata and Lukaku, we really should've gone for this guy. Dortmund eventually sold him for much cheaper than Morata and Lukaku as well.

He was 64m Euros and Morata was 66m Euros

Still much better value for money

You can a bit yes. Stats only tell one thing. They don't count the times where he's in front of an open goal and misses the ball (3 times that's happened this season).

I think Lacazette is better up top but he's a good player to have on the wing where he can use his pace more. Thought Emery set up the game poorly against us with him as their only threat for most of the match.

Still think Kane will get the golden boot this season, but yeah Auba has been good.

I still don't view him as one of the very best strikers in the world though. His goal scoring record is top notch but I think he's limited otherwise .. ultimately though a striker will rightly be judged on his ability to score goals, Aubameyang does this.

Arsenal having him and Lacazette is very dangerous, if either one isn't on it the other can still produce.

He's not absolutely elite - at the level of Aguero or Suarez - as he lacks the all round game for it, but he's an excellent goalscorer all the same.

He's better than Lukaku and Morata and Arsenal trumped both us and Chelsea in this regard.

I'd take Auba in my team over Suarez right now, and that's as someone who absolutely loved watching him play here.

I was referring to Suarez at his best. You know, that elite level striker like RVN, RVP, Henry, Aguero etc

I think the biggest difference is that all those players won major honors. I'd not put Auba on the level of Henry/Aguero/RVN (who I rate in that order), but he's not too far from RVP for me if you look past the fact that he's not really won much.

My only problem with him is that when he is not in form he looks really ordinary. It means he is not an elite striker, but still a great one.

He's been consistently one of the highest scorers across Europe for a few seasons now, he is in the elite bracket.

His overall play might not be as good as the best but he certainly has the finishing of the very best. Solid player, better than what we have by a country mile.

Guy guarantees goals. They're different as players but Ruud and him have plenty of similarities in their roles, being good on the ball but nothing comparing to their goalscoring ability and movement off the ball. Theres been a lot of people criticize the role of poachers these days here because of Lukaku, some people not wanting Icardi because of this, but I think a massive difference is the level of poachers that they are as well as their own mentalities. Some like Lukaku go hiding, others step up in the biggest games. Icardi is one like that. Auba is one who just scores all the time no matter the opponent.

He's excellent. Crazy amount of goals/assists per game and he didn't need long to gel with the team.

Crazy when you factor in the number of sitters he missed recently, he'd already be at 17/18 goals in December without them.
Arsenal only behind City in number of goals who have Aguero/Sterling/Sane/Jesus banging them in every week.
If we can add just one scoring winger and Lacazette provide a bit more we'd be up there.

He's quiet for long periods but when it counts he's there to pounce. He seems to work best with Lacazette who is happy to give him the glory....for now.

Guendouzi needs recognition for that pass from the back for the second. He was excellent again today.

I've not actually seen that much of him. Obviously i've known he's been a great goalscorer but how's his overall game? Early player of the year candidate along with VVD and Hazard?

Average at best. So no, he's not a POTY contender.

He's a lethal goalscorer in an attacking team, nothing less and nothing more. If he doesn't score you don't notice he's playing most of the time.

We're level on points with 4th as it is. Adding a winger and probably a defender would propel us further, don't you think?
The poster in question only said a winger ...

But yeah, if you added Salah and Van Djik to your squad you'd probably be a title challenging side. A decent winger and a decent central defender, and no you wouldn't.

Add just a winger and you'd still be comfortably behind Liverpool/City. Might be a point or so behind us only, but it wouldn't be making that much of a difference, you have massive holes elsewhere in your squad.

I only meant up there as in closer to City in terms of goals scored. I'm not saying a winger will make us title contenders, we're a long way from that.
