The board would love Jardim. After developing Mbappe early he would have new projects in Greenwood, Chong, Gomes and final stages of Martial's and Rash's preparations for key player's careers. Him favouring 4-4-2 at times could also help.

Zidane is Zidane. After winning three Champions Leagues he's absolute maverick that can handle biggest stars... but that could change if Woodward will force upon him giving new contract to such players like Jones.

From strictly two managers Zidane has proper profile for Manchester United but Jardim looks like a bit more patient approach and not everyone can like this.

Out of these two i would take Zidane.. Jardim got fired from Monaco recently and as a reward he will be the next Manchester United manager? That just doesnt make sense.

Zidane would be a decent option, i think our most valuable assests (Pogba, Martial) would love him as manager and most other players likely respect him for his career as player and manager. The only thing that does worry me is that when Zidane was at Real Madrid people claimed he wasnt very good tactically but just made sure the players were happy. It worked because the Real Madrid players he had are better than 99,99% of any other player in the league/world but that isnt that case with Manchester United players.

Reckon this should be settled quite soon. Don’t see any reason to hold off of Jardim with Mourinho gone. If he isn’t our manager soon I very much doubt he will be at all.

I know ill be laughed off here like when I said mourinho and lvg were too negative, but Zidane really is a very pragmatic manager. Not quite the level of the above two but many other managers out there are much much further down the scale than Zidane. People need to properly research this before just going with their first instinct or looking at a stat (mourinho record most goals in la liga in a season) and saying that of course zidane is a gung ho manager

He didn't deserve to be sacked, that's the thing that makes no sense.

I dont follow the Ligue 1 but wasnt he last at the moment of his sacking? It hasnt improve much since Henry took over but doesnt Monaco have some pretty decent players? Monaco lost a lot of quality players but with the players they have a manager should be able to have them above the relegation zone i think. Falcao, Golovin, Sibide and Tielemans are supposed to be really good players.

Monaco has had lots of injuries from day one, Golovin has barely been available, Sidibé is a shadow of himself due to a knee injury, Tielemans has never been a really good player and Falcao is over the hill. Jovetic and Lopes are probably the best players and have been out for almost the entirety of the season. And the bench is made of kids.

If he comes here and does it it would be a great help to get us back to where we used to and should be. Also happy he sometimes uses 4-4-2 as it is my ultimate formation but not sure it would fit this current group of players.

If I was in charge my shortlist of realistic candidates would be,

1. Poch
2. Allegri
3. Zidane
4. Jardim
5. Howe
Doesn’t make sense. You’re basically saying. You prefer an attacking manager. But if that doesn’t work out, you would go for a defensive coach. If we can’t get him, we’ll for mr motivator supreme, not sure of his exact philosophy but we’ll try him. If not that go with attacking coach again. If not him another attacking coach.

This is what I’m worried about with ed. We’re linked with too many contradicting philosophies.

The Man Utd way is attack, attack, attack. Giving youth a chance.

Surely, we need to be more specific in coaches we target.

Attacking coach that likes giving youth a chance. Yes, we missed out on the best two coaches, but sure as hell can a specific way which can be taken on easily by whoever comes on board. Otherwise, we’re just going round in circles.

Bery sensible post. Agree. People just look at the name and relative results they had. They don’t understand the ethos of the manager. How the team they managed played etc etc. That has been our problem ever since Saf.

Like many have said, we need an attacking manager, who will blood the youth and will win games. With our resources and patience from the fans, we will be successful, no doubts.

I think your post makes less sense. Jardim had had over half his team taken away from him, how the hell do you recover from that. What Jardim is proven at (which Zidane is not) is building a new team around youth players and then getting the best out of them. No small feat taking on PSG in France and then getting to the CL semi final as well.

Also didn't Klopp get nudged out of the door at Dortmund? I'd be more worried if Man Utd got Jardim than Zidane. Man Utd are in need of a major rebuild, you have tried the high profile manager and throwing money at the market approach and it has taken you backwards. You need a proper Director of Football and a coach to work with him. With the money you lot have within a 2/3 years I see no reason why you couldn't be right back up there, won't happen in one year like the fans are expecting.
