If the reports are correct let us look at his for a better word qualifications : As a player won 6 Premier League Titles, 2 FA Cups, 2 Community Shields, 1 Champions League and 1 Intercontinental Cup plus averaged a 1 goal every 3 games including at International level.
As a manager with Utd : Premier Reserve League 1, Premier League North 1, Lancashire Senior Cup 1, Lancashire Cup 1
As a manager with Molde : League 2, Cup 1
Awards in his own country : Knight of Order of St Olav First Class. Knikesen Award 1, Coach of the Year 2 and in 2009 an award for his efforts in coaching;
There is experience there both at a senior and junior level, his only failure was Cardiff City and that would he tried to adopt an attacking game plan which was above the level of his squad's skill range.

 State of this. You just made a thread about wanting Roy fecking Keane as the new manager after seeing him do a pundit stint on tv and you have the nerve to call others clueless.

God I just fell out of my bed

Why not? We are Man Utd. As much as i respect Spurs, but we are much bigger club. We must pay fee for him. Fee will be nearly the same now or in june. And basically IF he is our future manager, we will contact him and Spurs now so he will work against his future club next 6 months. Fighting for top4 and CL with Spurs against us. Which will leave him without CL next year in United.
You are expecting too much .

I have no idea. Conte, Zidane, Allegri all seem plausible, too. Could really be anyone (except Blanc now, presumably).
I think Blanc would have been a good concideeation too, clearly an intelligent guy and plays very good football, just seemed to have bad luck with his appointments.

 Jesus. After finally getting rid of the man who fecked the dressing room, let’s get someone else even more bitter and petty than him.

This is actually a great idea. Ole can weather us through the season to wait for the summer for Poch. No way in hell Poch would leave now while he's getting spurs out of the group stage. Plus former players tend to do good with clubs they are familiar with lately. No better person knows Utd then ole. Especially from his view is the *prime United team*. He'll have the idea to make us an attacking team.

Why not Bruce or Hughes though? Ok not fashionable but far more experience than Ole?
...because we needed to do something like this. Something different, Bruce and Hughes would be more of the same 'dour old yesterday men' ...Mourinho's dull style left a big dark cloud hanging over the morale of the club. Solskjaer may not be the most experienced but he'll get the fans on their feet again, some atmosphere back at Old Trafford, and crucially, a positive morale boost to the players.

Molde newspaper journalist:
Deal between OGS and MU already done before the Mou-announcement. Only minor paperwork remains.

His job is to play better football and improve the atmosphere around the club and I have full confidence in him doing that.

I'm sure you know exactly why not Bruce or Hughes, for a start they've both very recently been sacked for being rubbish. Ole's worked with a few of the players previously when he managed the reserves. The few Molde fans on Reddit suggest he plays an attacking style of football and he trusts younger players, for example, their leading striker is an 18 year old. He's not ideal but he makes a lot more sense than Bruce or Hughes.

Do you think Poch will join us after what's been reported earlier about him wanting to be considered for the the role?
Honestly, I’m sure he would be tempted and curious about what’s on offer. I think the news reports so far are BS, it’s the same lines that were written when Real were sniffing last summer. I don’t think he will push for the move myself, he will say it’s up to Levy, which means he doesn’t burn any bridges. But anything could happen.

Jesus some people...

It’s an interim manager, his task will be to come in and coach the first team for 5 months whilst the club prepares for the future with a potential director of football and long term manager sounded out.

You aren’t getting Zidane, Poch or anybody of that calibre mid season and the likes of Blanc would want a long term deal, the club don’t want to commit at this point in time until everything has been sorted out.

Top 4 is gone, we’re out of the Caraboe and have PSG in the CL, this season is a write off, best case scenario is a FA Cup win at this point. If Ole can get us playing a bit of attacking football it will be a refreshing change from the shit I’ve watched for the past 18 months.

I expect nothing from him. He understands the United way though so all he needs to do is play nice football for the next 8 months and not get us relegated.

@Damien @golden_blunder - is it too soon for a poll to guage the reaction of approve/disapprove of this appointment?

I thought most people would be buzzing about this, but there's a fair amount of salt too.

Great player, a true legend and I love him.

But think it is a really stupid pick as a manager even on an interim basis.

His managerial career so far has been relatively poor and I see little or no upside to appointing him.

Most likely outcome is he will do poorly and within a couple of months most will be calling for his head. Hoping it doesn't mean that a true legend will only be remembered for a short interim management stint

Why not Bruce or Hughes, he’ll even Gary NevilleOk not fashionable but far more experience than Ole? Hell even Gary N would surely have jumped at the chance?
I imagine they (the board) will be after a quiet life until the summer - Ole is, contrary to those other options, unlikely to demand players in January, unlikely to rock the boat behind the scenes, and, given his lack of experience, probably more-willing to take on a job with no prospects beyond 6 months. He wouldn't have been my choice, but I would guess that is Woodward/The Glazers' thinking here.

He said in August that we should build the team around Pogba. Wonder if he's going to do that and where he's going to play him?

He plays with a 4213 at Molde. Maybe he'll play Pogba in the deeper position, but allow him to get forward - similar to how he plays Hussain.

Rashford Martial Lingard
Mata
Pogba Herrera
Shaw Lindelof Smalling Dalot
De Gea

I hope it's only interim. I want to see him back in the walking dead for the next series! He's the best character in it.

Really not impressed.Although OGS achieved ‘legend’ status with most fans due to his obvious qualities there is little to suggest he can manage a behemoth like United.
Busby hadn’t played for us when he took over, neither had SAF ,loving the club and knowing the club are not high on the list of qualities required to succeed here.
Roy Keane ( who I wouldn’t pick) is more qualified than OGS in my view.

It's already brought the excitement and feel-good factor back. I'd say as a PR move to reconnect us fans with the club it's done it's job quite successfully.

As for the actual credentials of Ole, I'm still not 100% convinced but it's a caretaker role and he's coming in without too much expectations for the season so I'm not too bothered.

And besides, Real appointed Zidane and Solari as managers when their qualities as football managers at the top level were unknown. Same with Barca and Pep. Don't see how this is much different.

I'm sat here, with my Solskjaer celebrating his 99 goal mug drinking some hot chocolate remembering 9 year old me singing You Are My Solskjaer in the bath on holiday after we'd won the treble and I'm fecking grinning from ear to ear.

Actually couldn't give a flying feck about the results for the rest of the year. We've got Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as manager, it's fecking great.

All the United fans that have been out in the cold after the last 5 years have all of a sudden woken the feck back up and come back into the fold with this. Old Trafford will hopefully reflect it.

I love Solskjaer. don't think we'll get much better or that he'll do well, but at least the detox for the club starts now. would love to be pleasantly surprised.

He's too old for our midfield.

Worst case it builds his profile, barring a catastrophe he will be guaranteed a managerial role somewhere. Before I doubt any English team would go near him after his Cardiff job.
