What I don’t understand is why they didn’t grab his keys when they got his door open?!

A shopper was seriously injured when a car drove into "several people" at a supermarket, police have said.

A blue Citroen C3 hit pedestrians and drove off from the car park at Tesco in Harefield Road, Rickmansworth just before 14:00 GMT on Sunday.

A woman was taken to Watford General Hospital with serious injuries while a man was treated for slight injuries, Hertfordshire Police said.

Officers are trying to find the vehicle and its occupants.

Police said they believed the driver and a passenger were involved in an incident inside the store moments beforehand, where a person was challenged by Tesco security staff after allegedly attempting to steal alcohol.

The force has appealed for witnesses.

Stealing booze apparently and then knocked someone over trying to get away hence the reaction from people

Not being funny but it's a fairly new car, and they're nicking booze?! Dunno why I'm making that correlation but it keeps sticking in my head. Probably sleep deprived as I'm staying up tonight until Santa arrives, so I can twat him over the head with a shovel and steal his reindeer.

Edit: hire car

Edit edit: Twitter comments really are filled with painfully unfunny and insufferable "lad" arseholes, isn't it.

Possible that it's keyless and the guy had them in his pocket or something?

Don't know why they were saying 'leave him in the car' though. Was obvious what would happen and there were enough people there to stop him if he kicked off.

French car, Steve. More like the new Bourne movie but one where he's really old and given up trying to do handbrake turns and fly down staircases. The final scene is just him on his own trying to play backgammon against himself and losing because he's forgotten where he is or what his children's faces look like.

The Philosophy.
No excuses for the individuals of course but sometimes it is safer to let the person go if they have the intent to flee the scene and are in a car to prevent others getting injured and further criminal damage, especially if they are the type to run around for petty crime.

I noticed the car was heavily damaged and back window already smashed so clearly a lot had gone on before the video started both in and out of the store. The person was hardly going to get out with that crowd who were a mix of of antagonists and others shouting leave them in the car. The stores CCTV and reg plate would've been enough for the police and is what they are going off now anyway.

I do wonder how terrible some of the general public are or whether we hear more of these incidents now because of social media.

I saw a woman who worked in Tesco jump into an open car window to try and get back a load of flowers some skets had just stolen. Was only a few months ago. They started reversing with her still hanging out the window, tip toeing along sideways. Fully expected them to floor it into the side of my car at that moment.

I mean, the area it's in where i used to live (im in America thesedays) has its fairly regular weirdos, South Oxhey / Watford / Millend probably on par with the Moss Side area, im actually surprised no one did anything more than what the bystanders were doing, the people i know would of smashed the front window and made sure he wouldnt even of managed to drive off.

People like that should get a implant that disables all vehicles when they take place in a driver seat.

Could have well run over a group of kids on her way out of the parking lot there.

Based on my experience of the police managing to resolve or solve absolutely nothing in my life time, I'm guessing the driver will say she forgot to buy the alcohol....all the xmas stress...and was then attacked by a lynch mob and had no choice but to flee for her life....

Case for criminal damage....unproven!
