Vintage United today. Didn't play well but won and was entertaining at the same time.

Huddersfield were very well organised and difficult to break down. We looked knackered in the second half, which is probably attributed to our new pressing game and will take some time to adjust to. A few players had an off day but Pogba, Matic and Lindelöf were great.

Would watch again 7/10.

tbf Woodward was losing faith in Mourinho.
He brought in Bailly, Lindeloff.

And did not play them for one reason or another.

But he will trust Ole and ....Fergie ;)
The more we win and continue to play like this the more Woodward looks justified in kiboshing any of Jose's targets this summer just gone.

What does Woodward know? It was clear to the supporters that central defence was a problem area. As for losing faith, I agree with Gary Neville that you don't extend the manager's contract in January then refuse to back him in the transfer market a few months later. Maybe Jose was right when he said finishing second last year was a great achievement.

These were the kind of games we were sure to win in the past. And that's what this game showed. A game which we were bound to win and we won. That's how it should be. How many times during Jose reign we used to still worry about these games. Glad with the win and good rest for martial. I'm really excited to see Sanchez anf Lukaku in this set up

What I found amazing about Pogba's performance, is despite not appearing to put a great deal of effort in, he was always in the right place to receive the ball, invariably passed it on quickly, found acres of space for both his goals.

What a player, thank you Ole, for showing everyone what he can do when he's properly managed.

What excites me the most is that this team has the potential to get a lot better in every area. Can't wait to see how far Ole can take these players in the next 6 months.

Btw, what a fecking virus Pogba is. How much longer can we tolerate having this virus at our club??

Wasn't a brilliant performance but our attacking intent was evident. The second goal was again a fantastic team goal, just like last week. It's weird and lovely to see us score two goals of this nature.
True. We are shooting from midfield again having ample space and time to shoot. For some reason we never squared a pass for the midfielder to shoot under mourinho.

This was bits from the United way.

Not to be a downer but I wonder how long the players can keep up this intensity. They played like mad dogs for nearly the full 90min. Started to look tired already towards the end.

Enjoyable match though.
Yeah, we really could do with having Martial, Lukaku and Sanchez available now. The front players could barely run the last 15 minutes.

I’m pissed off Baiily sits out whilst Jones gets a run in the team.
I detest Jones as much as the next guy but as long as it works with Lindeloef and he doesn't feck things up I'm fine with it.

Hope we build confidence in the upcoming matches, need to be strong and running for the Spuds game. Delighted for Ole too, the fans get behind him without all the bullshit in the media that the fans have to do more.

Wonder how we'll manage with this intensity though given that our players haven't done that for the last 5? seasons. They simply might not be ready for it given pre-season prep.

The best bit of football came after we score the 1-0. Until the half time. It was superb to watch.

Difficult to argue with that mate.

What a con job though by Mourinho.....

all that mulla...and sabotaging the team from the get go. Started with his moanings in pre-season.

Our defence is gonna give Ole Sheer Heart Attack one day. It has so many weaknesses.
That said, the win came as a relief. We got to witness a Pogba close to Super Saiyan mode. Looking forward to more of these types of performances.

I'm writing in hindsight which is always 20/20. The writing was on the wall in August when he warned us we were in for a difficult season. Many on here pointed it out but, I admit, I didn't think what happened would actually happen.

Tottenham will be one. He will have to wok harder on the pitch that day. They can really outrun our slow midfield.
Agreed. I thought he was pretty poor outside the goals.

No. We scored three goals and won. It's a busy period with bigger matches coming. We didn't need Martial today.
Nah we still missed him but happy christmas anyway!

Those who are annoyed about Bailly not playing instead of Jones there are now 2 managers who arent picking him so he obviously needs to improve.

Cheers, mate! We would have looked better with Martial playing, no doubt, but we did just fine without his contribution.

Why on earth would people want Bailly over Jones at the moment? Jones is playing absolutely fine, Bailly rushing around isn't exactly what we need right now.

We miss Martial. It's quite clear he's focal point of out attack and with him I feel United have that edge or something, while without him there's no real presence up front, no real sense of danger. But Pogba took care of that with brilliant performance, so he wasn't missed that much today. :D Overall it's nice to see United playing positive football again, couldn't ask for more from Ole in this 2 opening matches!

The movement, energy, pressing, and quick passing was great again today.

Different sport than whatever the hell we were doing under Mourinho.

It was clear he had an agenda this season though.

Some day we will find out. But he never cared for this club. That was clear.

I doubt Ole would ever say so but the fitness level of the players must worry him.

Huddersfield manager remarked how we play with freedom now in his postmatch interview, can't remember the last time the fanbase has been genuinely buzzing like this about the football we've played

Ole is a positive man who loves attacking football and wise enough to speak so good about the players and the result is we scored 8 goals in 2 games with a lot better desire and passion.

Playing and team selection to get sacked - Jose exploited the absurdity of the modern game with poor regulations, silly money and useless contracts.

In the end his pressers had no bearing on the game played. He should be put on gardening leave for a couple of years as they do in business.

Let him cool down kicking his heels.

Did enough, didn't set the works alight but did enough.

Nowhere near as impressive as the last game but Huddersfield were a lot more organised and driven. Good moments and bad moments, but overall it was a positive performance and you can't ask for more right now.

Really disappointed to let the clean sheet slip, which is a great contrast from a little earlier in the season. It's nice to have that arrogance again where I think we have a divine right to score 3 or 4 against the more average sides without reply. Hopefully we can do the same in the next two games before a real test against Spurs. If we can win the next two and draw against Spurs I think we'll be in a great position and confidence will stay high.
