I thought it was a bit strange that Ole kept turning to Carrick for advice but rarely spoke to Mike Phelan during the game tonight. Spurs will be the real test but if Ole gets top 4 or wins the FA cup or Champions league I would like to see us give him an contract extension.

Next match is against Spurs, to those who want Poch as our manager...What would you think if we beat them convincingly? Would you still think we need Poch or would swap your opinion? I'm just curious.

I think Ole have shown us something we needed to see as United fans, as much as I wanted Mourinho to succeed here, his style didn't fit in, results and problems with players didn't help him either. 4 wins in a row against weak teams may be not that impressive BUT the way United play now is something we really needed to see, the way we are winning is more attractive, more dynamic, it seems that with Ole the players are shining and showing their best, as if they lost some heavy pressure off their shoulders and are hunger for success. I got the impression the players and the staff are happy now.

I think that Ole, Phelan and Carrick are the closest thing we'll see to Fergie's as a coach. Sorry for bad english.

Spurs vs united should not be a job interview for either of those managers.

It's too early for ole to manage this club long term for title pressure with other top managers.

I'm not that sold on Poch in the first place, so probably wouldn't change my opinion. Would convince me more of Ole being made permanent manager though.

The media have been going for this angle ever since he was appointed, jumping on every half
quote to this effect and trying to turn it into a massive story.

I hope it doesn’t effect Ole and the players and they can just get on with their job, and the board can get on with their recruitment process without being overly influenced by the noise being made in the media.

I’m in agreement with most here that he still needs to prove himself against more difficult opposition, but he’ll have his first chance against Spurs away.

Ha ok thanks for the advice.. Jesus it must have been absolute shit playing for fergie so.... think you misunderstood me , big difference between not being a walkover ie respected and liked(fergie) and jose(toxic hostile), you actually can be hard, fair and liked you know, oh and the general work place in UK doesn't have fellas earning 300000 a week,if they mess up they should be told off. In private.
People weren't scared of Fergie shouting at them, they were scared of not impressing him due to the amount of influence and power he had at the club. If we give Solskjaer the same platform of unquestionable authority, with backing from the board, it will be the same situation. He's spent enough time under Fergie to know what works and what doesn't.

Ole is the obvious choice,he has a first rate coaching staff that a new manager is likely to destroy a la Moyes, plus the backing of the greatest United manager ever!

It'll mean nothing.

Any team is capable of beating anybody on a given day.

You can't ignore Pochettino's body of work over a sustained 3-4 year period between Southampton + Tottenham.

He's turned Tottenham into genuine contenders instead of the bracket below that they used to be.

I'm pretty sure Poch would bail on us if Madrid come knocking one day.

That irks me more than anything else.
Nah, he respects Sir Alex and more importantly values sustainability. You manage Real Madrid with the expectation of being there no longer than 3 seasons. He can create a sustained dynasty at Old Trafford.

For me Poch is my top pick. If not him then Zidane. Ole will deservedly keep the job depending on what transpires for the next few months/

Well I was in the Jardim camp but since he’s going to get probably £100m from some Chinese trillionaire just to manage their team of random Brazilian journeymen and League 2 level Chinese players, I guess he’s out of the question.

I suppose I’m in the majority now of the ‘Pochettino or Solskjaer’ camp.

Join the Marco Rose camp brother. The saying goes "If it's not Ole, it's Rose."

Well, you can scrap Marco Rose and Jardim from that list now.

Clearly you can see the board hasn't make any move for a new manager.

Obviously waiting to see what Ole can do.

You can see what's gonna happen, we're gonna be caught twiddling our thumbs again and end up having to recruit someone we didn't want or not our first option, if Ole doesn't continue to work out, which would sum this 'club' up, again

What if it's not Ole or Poch? Who is left that will play attacking football and bring through youth?

1) Remove Pochettino. He will have to A want to leave Spurs B Spurs will let him go and C he chooses Utd over Real Madrid. Whats the odds?
2) Remove the defensive coaches,
3) Remove iffy options Conte, Zidance etc
4) Remove inexperienced gambles- Ole, Rose etc

Then what do we have left? Real cant find a manager and thats one of the most lucrative jobs in football. For any manager we get we need a DOF to sort out signing players- that will reduce the risk. Its a massive gamble giving it to Ole but if he does something miraculous the rest of the season then him first and then we are scraping the barrel of managers that would actually be available and that fit our philosophy and have experience - So Wenger. I think he will be hungry to prove that he still has it, he promotes youth, he is experienced and has a great record - last couple of seasons aside (I dont think that was all his fault. Lack of spending for 10 years caught up with them) Only thing is if we wanted him then we would have got him straight away - but maybe we are putting all our eggs in the Pochettino basket until he comes out and says he is staying at Spurs or going to Real

I've been positive lately, but I do have a nagging feeling this might be the case. A leopard can't change its spots, and this club has a habit of making very daft decisions.

Hopefully Ole continues to be a success and we can stick with him, because I'm worried what the other option might end up being.

Poch seemed to distance himself from the job today. Maybe it was just spin but he made some very strong comments regarding a desire to stay at Spurs long term.

If Poch does prefer to stay at Spurs, unless the wheela really fall off over the next few months I suspect Ole would be my second preferance but a significant distance over the likes of Zidane

If we get Southgate I'll be bitterly disappointed and upset. That would be a joke. Just keep Ole if we can't get someone like Poch or Zidane in.

I'm no fully on the Ole train and i'm slightly worried at how much people are getting carried away however Ole has a far far better record in club football. Southgate should not be on the shortlist.

I’m pretty sure Solskjaer is getting the job permanently unless there’s a player mutiny before the season ends. I just think Sir Alex is taking a more active role at the club now and Ole is his choice. I don’t think Ed Woodward would’ve selected Solskjaer that quick for the caretaker position and he certainly wouldn’t of hired Mike Phelan. This appointment was blatantly Sir Alex’s doing.

Southgate would never leave the England job the way things are at the moment. Nothing to fear here.

I hope that Ole goes on to get us into top 4, does well in Champions League, and wins the FA cup. Then we surely cannot let him go. But If it's a case that someone else is chosen, then I hope he keeps the staff/coaches already here.
