Should certainly have the opportunity for game time if he impresses in training, anyway, given the state of our backline right now.

He will probably get injured in the first session now I've said that.

Loan moves are incredibly overrated and very rarely work out for all 3 parties. There are countless examples of players failing to impress on loan but still doing well at their parent club. Not that TFM is 100% certain to make it here but it's not the be all and end all.

Two loans where he’s lost his place in the side 6 months in.

Not a good sign.

And there are even more examples of a player failing to impress on loan and returning to their parent club only to be sold.

I had high hopes for TFM, but his future isn't looking too promising. He's displaying nothing to suggest he'll ever be good enough for us, and far too much of his game is based on physicality.

We could always sell him to Bournemouth for £30m

2nd loan that doesn’t play out good for him… watched some games because of him and he didn’t really looked convincing
I slowly but surely start todoubt he has what it takes to make it at United

Another way of looking at it would be that he has been at two relegation fodder teams whom have both gotten off to horrible starts and the managers who have brought him in have been binned off

He has looked the part in the early parts of those seasons and then whether it be one of the better wing backs not in the top 6 (Wan Bissaka) coming to the fore or an injury, it has derailed his season.

There is talent there, he is good technically, I don't see this "over reliance on physicality" that others seem too (that isn't to say I don't see why it is being said though) I would keep him around the side and just have him play CM, DM, CB and FB when needed. He is a perfect player to have on the bench given his versatility, we can also sack off Darmian and Fellaini by keeping him around.

The vast majority of loans are just clubs loaning out players that have no chance of making it their in order to help them find a future employer.

My point was TFM failing on loan doesn't automatically make it so he has no future here. Nor would it mean he would have made it here had the loans been successful. I agree with you in that he showed a lot of promise and now seemingly has his back against the wall in order to make it here but all is not lost.

Wherever the truth lies his career has now massively stagnated for 3 years and while he's still young it's unlikely his career will recover now he's back at United. He needs to push for a permanent move in the summer

All these failed loan moves should serve as a sign. He's not up to the job so should be shipped out.

We all love United
I still think Fosu has it in him to be a utility and useful player for United, like John O'Shea did for us

Not good enough but the CAF loves him as he's a good athlete. Not good enough going forward or passing wise.

CBJ showed far more quality in the first team, but for some reason Fosu was far higher rated. He looks more athletic, but CBJ definitely looked more mature than him on the pitch.

Loans do not work.
I think they can work but I feel that loaning to a lower league works better as it helps the player get more playing time. It worked for Harry Kane getting minutes at Leicester but for clubs like Chelsea it's just a cash cow.

Can’t say I agree. CBJ looked way out of his depth almost all the time.

Not saying TFM has been particularly great either though.

Don't think he's any good really. Fans tend to overrate some of these youngsters (basically nearly everyone LVG gave debuts to) Joe Riley, Blackett, CBJ, McNair etc. who in reality have never been good enough. I think TFM sits in this category but maybe at the higher end of that crop.

It doesn't mean much to me, what he does at United will determine his future
Blackett did far better at United, but was moved on once his loan spells were over. So what they do at United isn't always enough. Mensah is one of those players who's highly rated on the Caf by some, yet generally is pretty unimpressive with anything other than his physical attributes in reality. I still don't know what his best position is and he's just turned 21.

I thought CBJ was very composed, even more so than some senior players. He had some shaky moments as you'd expect from a young player but he overall gave a good account of himself in the first team. TFM also did well when he was first called up by LVG but for some reason Mourinho didn't trust him. I think Mourinho had an agenda against players that were close to LVG.

Far better is a stretch. I liked Blackett, but TFM looked the part whenever LVG played him. Blackett's low point during his brief stint in the first team was the 5-3 loss to Leicester where he looked like a deer in the headlights and got red carded. TFM hasn't had a game nearly as bad as that for United. Look where we are now, Blackett is playing for Reading and TFM is still on United books. I don't think a long term decision will be made on his United career until the next manager or Solskjaer (if he gets the job) assess him next season.

Not convinced he will make it. I think he will be shipped out in a few seasons.

That just isn't true.
Yep, not even close. CBJ put better performances than Shaw probably did this entire season. He didn't play much, but he was very good when he played. It was on his loans that he disappointed from what I read later.

Tuanzebe was looking solid for Villa this season too before his injury. Sure loans are a bit of a lottery but it can still be a valuable tool given how poor the standards are at reserve level.

Still our best DM propsect. I'd like to see him get a game instead of Matic who's just too slow.

With Herrera and TFM our defense is light years better compared to the space Matic leaves with his lack of speed/agility. Might even allow us to play Fred instead of Herrera as a more offensive option next to Pogba.

Matic has done well since Ole took over. Looking to pass it forward instead of sideways like we were used to under Mourinho.

Granted, not as good as Carrick was.

Loans are hit and miss. What other option is there for a player who's not good enough to play here though?

Eh? Parachute Fosu-Mensah straight in at the expense of Matic?? What sort of nonsense is this? Matic has been excellent since Ole arrived and Fosu-Mensah has shown so little with Fulham that he's been kicked to touch early. Catch a grip of yourself.

He’s basically lost large parts of a couple of really important development years to iffy loans. His problem is that he was sent away to try become good enough to play for us and he’ll come back no closer to having done that. It’s the way it goes sometimes.

Teams fighting relegation have no incentive to develop another club's talent. They are mostly a waste of time.

You think he should play midfield for Manchester United because he can run a bit? That's insane.

He's shown nothing to suggest he can play midfield at that level.
