Is there any way to make short players like Cong Phuong and Quang Hai stronger ? I always believe our country can produce a Messi or David Silva some day :D
Haha, maybe HGH or Pep's special medicine ;)

Actually woke up at 5:45 in the morning to watch China-Kyrgyzstan.

Really nice first half by the Kyrgyz, they could have been 3 up. Then, second half starts and their keeper pulls his best Karius/Pickford impression. Unbelievable amateur and bad. Gifted the victory to China. Gutted for the Kyrgyz as this was their first ever match in an international tournament and they shot themselves in the foot in the most ridiculous way.

What the feck was he trying to do?

Vietnam is playing Iraq tonight, quietly optimistic for a good result, read somewhere that Iraq is having a injury crisis.

Hope our MVP Quang Hai will make an impression. Go Vietnam.

Shame that apart from some streams being available, you can't watch this on TV in the UK. I think the amount of tennis coverage on Eurosport is possibly the reason it isn't on any of their channels, I am sure they have shown it in the past.

I read somewhere that BBC would be showing some matches, but can't find them anywhere on the iPlayer or red button.

I think he pickforded it! .... but then he was so woefully bad on the second goal as well. Worst keeping performance I've seen since Karius in CL final.

Gutted because Kyrgyzstan is an awesome place (one of the hidden gems of the world to visit) and they've been on a great run even in friendlies. Really had them to come second in this group or at least one of the best 3rd teams. But you just know, losing in this fashion really dampens team morale. Big ask to come back now vs. Korea on Friday.

And hello to all other Team Melli fans as well! Considering all heavy hitters have struggled so far, I think we did well. Also, all 3 of our main goal threats scored and seem to be in good form that bodes well. We just need to be a little calmer and not give into the psychological warfare that teams like Yemen or Iraq (o boy, what a game that'll be) will try to initiate. We are pretty great at beating ourselves (See the QF vs. Iraq last tournament), so if we have that under control, we'll be in great shape.

Vietnam is beating Iraq 2-1 at HT now!

On a lighter note, one of my best mates is South Korean and lives in Dubai. I've been peer pressuring him to go to the North Korea-Saudi game at Al-Maktoum later and sit with the Nork fans if there are any. Will be interested to hear his report if he ends up going

Some hilarious defending in Iraq and Vietnam. First Viet goal is one of the best own goal finishes you'll ever see. Mohanad is a good player for Iraq and only 18, always impressed when I've seen him.

Enjoyed that game but my word Japan made hard work of it.

The next game looks interesting, i must confess that i'm not totally clued up about Asian football but i think i will bet on Uzbekistan to win and both teams to score for the next game. You guys have about 15 minutes to tell me i'm an idiot if it's a bad bet.

We're up next vs Qatar, extremely defensive line-up so we're going for a draw. We've never beaten Qatar before, this would be a good time to start. Keep an eye on #7 Maatouk (C) and Jradi #22 on the wings and #6 Oumari at CB.

Uzbek were awful there, expected them to be much better.
Should be a relatively straightforward win for Qatar next I think, not their strongest 11 though for some reason. Lebanon not got much quality, the locals are very poor.

Yeah I was surprised by Oman. Though they deserved a point at least.

We're playing a very defensive formation, I don't see us attacking them so much and we're going to rely on counters. I would say it's 75-25 in their favour.
Could be a stupid question but any link between Lebanon and Sweden? Both Michel brothers are born and raised in Sweden and your location is Stockholm. Assuming its probably coincidence.

coincidence, Lebanese people are everywhere and Sweden is no different. They're 3rd generation. Jradi (Denmark), Michel x 2 (Sweden), Khalil (Sierra Leon), Oumari (Germany), Helwe (Germany), Ayyas (Bulgaria), Haidar (Norway). So half of the team is foreign born, we're trying to do the same as Turkey and the North African countries but it takes time.

Nothing yet, Qatar were 1.9 at early prices which I liked but couldn't get on. Hoping Qatar start slow then price will drift to 1.8 or so, I'll stake that if it comes quick enough.
You might be in luck. Its been a really poor start to the game.

@Ballache We had a goal disallowed? Came home and the entire family was shouting at the ref. Was it legit offside or a foul or something?
