Where are all our defenders? We are fecked when Jones hobbles off in the first few minutes of the game.
I guess either Shaw or Matic would slot in at CB, Garner also plays there (he does for my on FM anyway). Strangely enough, I think Shaw would make a great partner for Lindelof, left footed, good in the air, defensively solid and lightning quick.

If there was any game in which Jones could win back some credit and respect from the fans, it is this one. He absolutely needs to perform today to have any hope of a future at United even as a backup.

Pretty confident with the rest of the team. We can match them in midfield and attack on current form. Im especially worried about Son as he has the pace to really get at our defense.

Grant and Garner most likely to be left out of the 18.

    de Gea
    Young Lindelof Jones Shaw
    Matic
    Herrera Pogba
    Lingard Rashford Martial
    ---
Romero; Dalot, McTominay; Fred, Pereira; Mata, Lukaku

Biggest surprise is no Darmian given our defensive woes, he must have picked up a knock in Dubai. If Jones or Lindelof were to be injured, it looks like McTominay or Matic would have to play at centre half.

Don't get me wrong - of course Spurs are favourites. BUT...I just feel that the Spurs' central midfield is a weak link - at least compared to the rest of the team.

Dier and Wanyama are out - and probably Dembele. That probably leaves Eriksen, Sissoko and Winks again - and none of them are that strong reliable enforcer that Spurs often use.

On a good day - we can hurt them
Yes, certainly. As long as we go at them instead of sitting back, we can put their midfield under pressure. Even their defense is not that strong without Vertonghen and the slight decline of Alderweireld. Martial will also do well if we can get him running at Trippier. We can definitely do some damage on the attack. It's the defensive side that will pull us down.

I've arrived in London for the big game, cant wait. Warm up with Everton game.

One of games I've most looked forward to in about 5 years. A real gage of where we are and what we are capable of.

Is Darmian injured? Because I would prefer him over Dalot for this match.

jose would of lost the game before we started by playing 5 at the back again, with mctominay and/or matic just to prove is his CB point and I supported Jose until the last few weeks. Spurs are a great side this season, but lets not forget Wolves smashed them at Wembley 2 weeks ago just by having a go not giving them too much respect.

Jones will be our key player today. He has to avoid getting eaten up by Kane as usual.

We could come away with a 1.2 win aslong as Jones limits his brain farts.

Our last win away to spurs was back in march 2012, almost 7 years ago now.

We can't afford losing any of our midfielders ( Pogba-Matic-Herrera) we have no backups for any of them, hopefully they continue being fit. Don't know but suddenly I felt like we have very few options in that team.

Rashford has been pushed out to the left on the two occasions when OGS has had him and Lukaku playing together
I thought Rashford went right with Sanchez on left?
Anyway Rashford has started all the games in the middle for Ole and it's working very well. If Lukaku will play either they play uptop together or he goes to the RW. Anything else will ruin the balance of the team. Rashford left means no space for Martial - who's also done enough to lock his position down.

In Lisbon but will try to find a spot to watch this. Come on United. Come on Ole.

Was just realising the last time I watched United while abroad was the home match against Spurs. Time for revenge I think.

Rumor has it Rom starts ahead of Martial today :annoyed:

Hope that doesn't push Rashford out wide,he's flourished down the middle

I'll be honest I worry about Rashford against Spurs' CB's if he's our no 9. Lukaku can be bullied as well but in theory at least he'd give us more of a physical presence so if he were to play and Rashford goes to the left then there really isn't a place for Martial as well

We need footballers against Spurs. We need creative talent and ability to hold the ball when in their half. If Martial is dropped purely for tactical reasons and it isn’t a knock or anything Ole has made his first mistake in a huge game. In my opinion of course.

Let’s wait and see how it goes first before deciding it’s a mistake. Having Martial to come off the bench might be an important moment.

Interesting move to bench our top scorer. Lukaku has been scoring lately but up against a top 4 side I worry he will be invisible. At least he should get a few chances since we're planning to attack. Martial off the bench could be a super sub, let's hope he comes on to finish them off rather than to spark a comeback.

Who else is feeling nervous about this game? So much at stake.
Not worried.I half expect a defeat because Spurs are, frankly, better than us in pretty much all positions.Plus our record against them in the PL for sometime now has been poor.
I do want us to try and play are more progressive style though. That has been my main priority from United since Jose has gone and it has pleasantly came to fruition.

Sure anything can happen,as we saw in the Wolves result but Spurs, when they're on their A game, that's tough like it or not.

If it’s true Rom is starting not too surprised, called it earlier in the week. Personally I would have hoped it would have been Lingard dropped but Rashford and he will give you more defensive work and hustle than Martial so it makes sense.

Our top scorer will be on the pitch either way. Be it Martial or Lukaku.
