Yup, he is a remarkable talent. If he continues playing up top, there is no reason why he can't score 150+ goals for the club. He is ten away from 50.

I remember at some point Ronaldo had his critics saying there were questions if he could do it against big clubs. Rashford will never get that question. It is a good start to a career as anyone has had. Almost unfair on him, he has set some standard for himself. Love it!

That is actually very impressive.

Seeing as a lot of strikers are being measured by their ability to score against the top 6, it's safe to say Rash has proven to be a big game player and not one to go missing.

Still remember his brace and an assist against Arsenal on his PL debut.

And seems to become more consistent with each game aswell. He does miss a chance here or there, but usually makes up for it. A lot more confidence in his stride and doesn't seem to hog the ball that much anymore either (or might be just my rose-tinted glasses).

Compare that to Lukaku's record

Said it when he first broke through, in terms of an attacker/striker, he'll be the best one the academy has delivered

I'd rather play Rashford over Lukaku anyday.

No space for Lukaku in this team anymore. He didn't even make an effort today and he was only required for 20mins.

Attacker maybe, but he's still got to prove he can be a starting striker for the club. He needs to consistently put away chances like the one today.

Lukaku has 16. 8 more than Rash. ha
I knew someone would say something like that, Lukaku has had many more apps than Rashford. What's the actual goals to games ratio for the pair?

Hilarious that people wanted him gone a month ago.

Find a 21 year old that doesn't need to.

At the moment there's absolutely no debate about Rashford v Lukaku.
It's an utter no brainer.

At that age none, but he's played a lot of games already. Top strikers of years gone by were more clinical with similar levels of experience, but he's got time on his side. I still think he will end up more of a wide or supporting forward than an outright striker.

Dunno about Rashford but Kane vs Lukaku stood like this in August:

Lukaku is a flat track bully and nothing more. Hopefully doesn't start a top 6 game for us again in the league. Offload in the summer please.

The best part about our young attackers (martial, lingard, Rashford) is that they all seem to have a very good record in big games. Think both Martial and Lingard are only missing one of the big 6 to complete the set?

Goals against the “big 6” shouldn’t be the only way to judge whether a player is good or not.

Look at Suarez in his final PL season, he scored roughly 50% of his goals vs teams in the bottom 5 or so.

Anyone know Martial's record against the top 6 too? I feel like the 2 of them can score against any team and out of much less than Rom can. They both need to play every game, of course there will be teething problems, but their upside is more than worth it.

Not just against the big six.

Rashford has 149 appearances and 40 goals in the senior squad.

To put some context on that, Ronaldo had 31 goals when he it the same appearance number.

I'm not suggesting Rashford is 'as good' or anything. But some think hes been a bit underwhelming last season. His first three years have actually been remarkable.

Rashford has shown he can do it against the big teams from his very first PL game where he scored a brace against Arsenal and then went on to win us the Manc derby. The dude's amazing and I don't want to see Lukaku on the pitch from the beginning unless we're playing a bottom 5 side.

I cannot believe that idiot Mourinho almost ruined him.

Minutes Per goal

Lukaku:
United - 299 mins
City - 239.2 mins
Liverpool - 223.8 mins
Arsenal - 344.3 mins
Chelsea - 305.3 mins
Spurs - 971 mins

Rashford:
City - 229 mins
Liverpool - 198.5 mins
Arsenal - 164 mins
Chelsea - 511 mins
Spurs - 241 mins

You have to consider a key point that the majority of Lukaku's appearances came at Everton and West Brom where they lost pretty much all of these games.

Chelsea 2
City 1
Arsenal 1
Spurs 1
Liverpool 1

The Chelsea, City and Arsenal goals all came this season.

Rotten comparison. Suarez was (is) a handful for every opponent. Even when he wasn't scoring/assisting in that season he was constantly creating trouble with his pace and energy. Lukaku is just a static dinosaur. He will score goals against poor opponent if you feed him enough chances but that's all he offers.

He hasn’t even started his incline to peak years. There is so much more to come from this kid. He’s only going to build that mental sharpness further. Easily easily can beat Rooney’s record

Ole is to rashford what sir alex was to Ronaldo. We have a special talent and the best part is he will only improve even more.

Whoever I bet on
I was convinced that he was a glorified Welbeck, but not so sure anymore. Clinical again today, Lukaku should be shipped out.

He's a player who knows he's going to start and who knows he wont come off after 60 minutes and be dropped for the next game or if he does something wrong, he wont get daggers from the bench. Mourinho's man management of his potential was criminal.

I really don't get why we always have to turn something positive about one player into something negative about another. Especially after a win like today.

This. Lukaku provided an aerial out ball today when he came on which is exactly what Ole wanted from him. Rashford played pretty well again today and scored a cracking goal but can still get more clinical. Neither of their performances is relevant to the other.

He looks like how he played under LVG again. Jose was not the best manager for him at that stage. Jose may have been the best manager for him when Rashford is close to his peak.

Mourinho's man management with every member of the playing staff was awful towards the end, even with his so-called favourites.

I don’t think Jose is the best player for any player right now. I really mean that, the guy needs time away from football and potential therapy.

That's very very impressive from Rashford, I think Martial has a decent record vs big 6 too.

Vardys is nuts though, more than 1 in 2 every game against Top 6.

You need FTB to win titles, also who would buy Lukaku given the amount we spent on him and his mammoth wages?

Really disappointing that was. Late sub when you're winning, your job is to try and get a breakaway chance sure but the very minimum you have to do is make runs so your team have an out ball and run yourself ragged and harass the opposition.... it's only 20 mins?
