What would be an acceptable offer for Pogba?

Although I disagree with the part that you say in bold. There are several people out there who have a similar view to you in comparing him to Zidane.
Here is a comparison video you might like mate
I know it is a strange concept for people who only watch PL, but this idea is not alien out of the PL's cocoon. You'd have a hard time finding people who regard Roy Keane as high as he's rated on here. But the like of Giggs, Scholes, Gascogne, Rooney, Rio, Cole, Lampard, Gerrard, Owen, SAF are universally accepted by everyone.

I'm french and nobody rate Keane as an all time great midfielder here.

In fact,we don't speak about him at all as if he never existed

When we talk about the best DM of all time, people think about Vieira, Rijkaard, Deschamps, Redondo, Makelele, Busquets...

Roy who ?

Same thing in Spain, Italy, Portugal...

Only rated by the british people ;)

And Pogba isn't even a DM so I dont understand why you are comparing Pogba to Keane..

Cantona called Deschamps the "water carrier", tbf it's the same for Keane if you compare him to an artist like Pogba !

Agreed, only seen him in clips but more talented than Ronaldo for me.
On par with Messi for me. I couldn't believe such a player played for us. He's the best player to have ever play for this club from the footage of him I watched.

Roy Keane was not really a "water carrier".

shhhht, heresies. You'll be labeled from any name for saying this. You don't understand football or you're a teenager, or you are a wum. We're only allowed to sing the praise of our Keano.

I'd tend to agree with you - interestingly, I played a 5 min YouTube of him to a bunch of 30 something guys in the Middle East, last year and they rated him higher than Messi - I think that was because he was playing against less sophisticated defenders in those days and left them for dead - Messi has to deal with faster, more skillful defenders. Mind you, if Harris, Hunter, Hurst, Storey, Smith etc. caught up with you ......

Having seen both live (more of Ronaldo, than Best), I find them difficult to compare directly. A short (5'7'') forward, who was very difficult to tackle and had stunning acceleration over 5-10 yards at his peak, versus a tall forward who was very fast over a sustained distance at his peak. Both are/were good in the air (Best jumped well for his height) and are/were good finishers (possible Ronaldo a little more clinical) and both were effectively dual footed.

I would have loved to see them playing in the same team.

Talk for yourself bro  Only ignorants don't rate Keane and Pogba would be lucky to have a Man United career as illustrious as Keane's

Just because Keane is underrated outside England doesn't mean he wasn't a fecking legend. You should trust your eyes who watch the players rather than depending on whom people talk about.

Pogba is a better footballer than Keane.
And I think that Pogba is too good to be compared with Keane.

Pogba is a 2.0 Zidane or Ronaldinho. An artist ! Not a random british midfielder
Keane sure as shit isn't British.

Like I said, only ignorants don't rate Keane highly and this, no matter the country they currently live in (my 20 or so years living in France attest to that as well as my frequent visits there )
You don't frequent visit France if you think that Keane is highly rated.

Even Davids and Gattuso are more respected

I showed his videos to some friends and to some kids, and got the same type of reactions with many really believing he was better than Messi, they couldn't believe such a player existed and said it was some kind of fake videos. Then show to the kids videos of R9, was amazed at their reactions too, saying R7 didn't deserve the name of Ronaldo .

I have lived there for a long time. He is rated by those who know their shit, the opinion of clueless people is meaningless.
That's the thing though, great player are universally rated. You don't need to be a purist to rate Messi, Modric, Xavi, Iniesta, Giggs, Scholes,.... If it requires a lot of knowledge of football to recognize someone talent than that player was not as great as he's painted to be.

What an amazing footballer. I remember watching the video of the goal that George Best scored after getting smashed into by Chopper Harris.
Harris was talking in the video that the manager told Harris to basically hack Best. He did, Best took it, didn't hardly knock him off balance, yet could potentially have broke his leg. Tough guy.

All the players you mentioned are blatantly "easy on the eye" with the ball which makes it so much easy to recognize their abilities by any donkey. I'm sorry but certain players require a decent level of football understanding to know their greatness/importance (Deschamps, Makelele and Keane fall into that category). It has very little with their ability if some of them are underrated by the general masses

What you're saying makes no sense because Deschamps and Makelele are universally accepted. Is Kante also easy on the eye with the ball?

I meant to say the type of footballers they are do not make it easy on them to be be appreciated to the full extent of their importance. Kante was underrated criminally on the Caf, Deschamps is considered as a leader but rarely his footballing qualities get mentioned. Same for Makelele.
My point is that those guys are very good footballers but because they aren't as technically as amazing as other players, they aren't considered even higher.

You are entitled to your view of course but there are plenty of people in world football who know who Roy Keane is and rate him highly.
Put the 99 version of Roy into this United team and we would be top of the league. No doubt about it.

I'm guessing, and it is just a guess, that you personally cannot speak for 100s of millions across 4 countries.

Never thought I’d see the day United fans basically call Roy Keane a Jordan Henderson/James Milner type player. :houllier:
Go back and read all the people calling for Pogba to go.
It's a worldwide United form, it has more than its fair share of idiotic views.

Hypothetically, what would happen if we were to make Pogba available in a straight swap deal with some of our Premier League rivals. Some example scenarios:

- Pogba for Lucas Torreira (Arsenal)

- Pogba for Kevin de Bruyne (Man City)

- Pogba for Jorginho (Chelsea)

- Pogba for N'Golo Kante (Chelsea)

- Pogba for Christian Eriksen (Spurs)

- Pogba for Dele Alli (Spurs)

I don't think any of those offers would be taken, and most would probably be met with incredulous laughter. Honestly, I don't even think Liverpool would entertain a swap for Jordan Henderson.

We're likely to make a loss on Paul Pogba when we sell him - his value to a Premier League team is less than any of the players I listed above. Our best chance of a decent fee is for a southern European team to come in for him, and that would also be the best outcome for Paul Pogba himself. If we can get £50 million, that would be reasonable.
wish we had a hall-of-fame/rafters/redcafe museum section for classic posts. this shit needs to be preserved.

If he's still wanting to move this current form has increased his value beyond the 200 million mark.

His marketability alone is worth 100 million.

Read somewhere a while ago we told Barca he's the face of our brand and unsellable the same way they view Messi. No surprises the interest basically died down

people act like Pogba's career comes down to his 2 years at a mediocre Manchester United team, like the dude doesn't have a bag of titles and a world cup under his belt, at 25, and was core to said trophies. He's an incredible player.

Given a choice between Pogba and Keane ( at the peak of his powers) I would pick Keane without hesitation.
Thats a no brainer for me. As talented as Pogba is, Keane was Fergusons most important player imo. Football is so much more than talent on the ball. Not that Keane wasn't talented, he was, but his personality and attitude would ensure, that the whole team gave their all every time leading by example. What's that worth? Perfect captain.

Some of the posts in the thread are down right shameful. Shows how terrible fans would be at a DOF role.

Pogba should NOT be sold under while he is in his prime. There are no players like him in world football and getting replacement of the same quality would be an expensive and/or timely endeavor.

If there are no issues with the club and he is not forcing a move, we should slap a 350M price tag on him and just relax.
