Really looking forward to the weekend. Assuming we do the business against Brighton in the afternoon on Saturday, we can sit back and watch Arse and Chelsk slug it out in the later kickoff. But I'm really torn as to what result I want.

I want Arsenal to get hammered because with City coming up that could put them out the picture by Feb and, well their fans just deserve it and their meltdowns are just a glorious thing to behold. Coupled with Mislintat rumoured to be leaving, the Ozil saga, fans getting tetchy with Emery already and their lack of activity in the January window, it's just a great time to be an Arsenal onlooker right now.

But then again an Arsenal victory would put us 3 points behind Chelsea. We would then have to hope that City beat them to give us that 3 point cushion between 5th and 6th. To be within striking distance of 4th spot after just 6 games would be fecking incredible.

A draw would be a longer term benefit as both Arsenal and Chelsea are not really convincing in a lot of games so more dropped points are inevitable. Both teams dropping 2 points on Saturday though would be a big boost to United's top 4 aspirations.

Whatever the result, it's a win for United. We just have to beat Brighton first but it would be typical of us to get a dumb result in a nailed on game like this.

What do you guys think? I'm really torn right now. I guess it's better to have a 2-way battle for 4th so the sooner Arsenal are out the picture the better but equally any chance to make up ground on Chelsea should be taken.

Perhaps @Damien could add a poll?

Arsenal win. I feel they're all-in Europa cup, EPL is off the table even top 4 is unlikely for them.

Chelsea loss or draw. I'd be much more concerned with trying to reel chelsea in than pullin ahead of arsenal.

I think the latter will happen naturaly anyway unless arsenal get their shit together

Arse win. It would be an upset as they look really poor to me, that 20 game run really flattered them. They will drop plenty more points where Chelsea look solid enough.

Should be a no brainer, IMO, for an Arsenal win.

Can't see the Gunners sustaining the top 4 pace more than Chelsea, over the course of the next half season.

The sooner we get into the Top 4 positions, the better for us.

These games really fecked me off in Jose's first season. We always seemed to drop points in winnable games just before two of our top 4 rivals played each other

Arsenal win for me. Chelsea need to be reeled in. Bag a few against Brighton and we'd be ahead of Arsenal on GD and closer to Chelsea. Happy days...

Arsenal win. We are trying to reach top 4, Arsenal picking up points doesn't affect that.

Arsenal win. If current form is anything to go by then we won't be competing with them for a league position come the end of the season. We need to put Chelsea under pressure.

It's an easy Arsenal win, really no other answer. We're level on points with them despite how shite we were with Mou and them getting a lot of praise over the season. Not too worried about them.

Chelsea have been struggling a bit but with the addition of higuain, will get them what they were missing essentially. Will be tough to overtake them imo.

I don't think we should be getting ahead of ourselves and assuming we will easily overhaul Arsenal. All 3 teams are close in quality. Both of them dropping points is ideal.

Definitely an Arsenal win.

Being 3 points behind 4th spot would be fantastic - considering how far behind we were a month ago.

Arsenal. A Chelsea win gives us an advantage in getting fifth, and Arsenal win gives them and us a chance at fourth. A draw wouldn't be too bad either, we could do without Arsenal getting too much confidence considering we have them in the cup and they're a direct rival in the league.

So that 2 clubs we need to overtake drop points. Not hard surely?
Chelsea are the vastly superior team. Arsenal are almost irrelevant to the equation. Most of all you should be hoping for Spurs to drop points, though.

Arsenal win. We could even overtake Arsenal if they get a narrow win, provided we hammer Brighton and we would be just 3 points behind Chelsea. I would back us to get results against both these teams when we face them so the closer we are to the 4th, the better.

Short term a draw would be best to move up to 5th if we beat Brighton, but if you're of the view that Chelsea will be the challenge for top 4 over the rest of the season then an Arsenal win would be best.

Obviously Arsenal winning. Assuming we beat Brighton, that's only 3 measly points off 4th.

Who are the 2.2% who voted for a Chelsea win?:houllier:...oh it's 1 guy. Oppo fan I guess.
