I've seen almost nothing of this fella, bar highlights, but he's ridiculous in FM. Can anyone educate me a little? And if he's as good as his highlights and FM suggests, why isn't there more hype around him?

One of the top centre half talents. Every big club has been after him at some point, including us when he was at Valenciennes I think it was.

How would you rate him in comparison to say De Ligt? As big a talent or?

From the little i’ve seen of him, he’s very talented and one of the best CB prospects out there. Where does he stand compared to De Ligt? Well the Dutchman is in a league of his own at the moment. Head and shoulders the best CB talent I’ve seen in a long time.

Always difficult to compare properly for various reasons. Relative strength of both leagues and team’s domestic dominance mitigates in Upemecano’s favour. Glamour and profile of relative clubs probably makes De Ligt seem more favourable.

In truth, I think De Ligt looks the best around. But he could just as well be surpassed by less glamorous options like Todibo or Dayot etc.

Thanks for the replies, do you lads think he'd cost an arm and a leg or would he be more reasonably priced than the likes of De Ligt?

We should have signed him when we were heavily linked with him when he was leaving Valenciennes

Only seen him a couple times but stylistically he would seem to make sense as the Vidic type unit next to Lindelof as the better passing but not as physically impressive partner.

If we could prize Paul Mitchell, I’m guessing this fella would be one of our first signings. Very good potential.

We tried to sign him before but it didn't happen for some reason.

I assume he was deemed too raw at the time. One to keep an eye on anyway.

i have both Upamecano and De Ligt on FM. sorted.
Was going to do the same, I play 2 player though and I was running away with the league year in year out so had to let my buddy have Upamecano to catch up.

Would love this signing. Him or Koulibaly for me.

Hopefully that doesn't sour the thought of him joining us in the future, he's supposedly the premier CB talent (just below De Ligt). It'd be a shame if we missed out on him in the future because we didn't buy him a flat.

I don’t think it would deter him from coming. At the time it’s a fair expense to shell out for a 16 year old. Fair play to RB, they had a much better plan. I’m sure we’ve learned from it too.
Can’t say I’ve seen anything of him, though. I’ve only watched RB a couple of times and didn’t pay much attention to their defending

Renting a nice flat in Manchester for him and his family would hardly have broken the bank. Unless it's against the rules for some reason but I don't think so.

Seen him a couple of times and his potential is massive. Would be a really exciting signing.

Crazy. Some of these hyped up young CBs must be overrated badly because they're going for good money and we. and other big clubs, just don't seem interested. Saliba, Upamecano, Badiashile etc. I know we have Tuanzebe who we have high hopes for so its fair enough if he gets a chance.
All of those three are French as well. Konate too! They've got a crazy talent pool in France.

He's not extending for now. Expiring in 2 years.

Do no want. In 2 years he will be 100, and players start declining after 100.

Directly under the sun... NOW!
98?!

Surely that's a typo!? That's crazy! Wow. He must be the oldest player ever!

Wait wait wait... I just googled and came across several pages hinting Upancomer is much younger than 98... Curiouser and curiouser...
