at 28, he'd be perfect and allows Dalot to develop and eventually take over.Psg willing to sell Meuneir it seems. We should definitely take a look.

It's a CB and he is going to Bayern.I like the look of the French RB at the world cup, benjamin Pavard. Is he available?
Shitty league arguement.... Remember a certain dutchman playing in the shitty league some seasons ago? The manager of said team called to the top teams in PL and told them they should buy this player directly from them, instead of waiting 2 years and buy him at twice the price. While VVD played for Southampon for a little over a year, i do not think he improved dramatically while he was there. No way? Mate you do realize Tierney is playing in a shitty league against shitty opposition? He'll likely need time to adjust to the PL. Also, Shaw has shown he can be very dangerous in attack. It's the reason he broke his leg. Wasn't allowed to do it under Mourinho but I think under Solskjaer his attacking game will improve.
So just because VVD worked out it is guaranteed Tierney will too? Bollocks. Don't get me wrong, I like the lad and I think he's talented but there's no telling how he will do here. I'm rate him enough to be fine with us buying him directly from the shitty league but that doesn't mean he's automatically first choice LB. He'll have to earn that. It's not like Shaw is playing badly either so it wouldn't be fair to him.Shitty league arguement.... Remember a certain dutchman playing in the shitty league some seasons ago? It is also a difference between being allowed to go forward and being good at it.
Agree with Wan Bissaka, been impressed every time I've seen him, some posters regard him as not very attack minded, but if he was at United I think he would have more opportunity. Have always liked Mitchell, and CBJ to me was great going forward, but not too hot defensively. Laird looks a beast in the youth, not quite so sure about O'Connor yet. Dalot and Laird have both covered left and right full back positions, so there is plenty of scope in my opinion.I really like Wan-Bissaka at Palace. Have him and Dalot fight it out for RB. At LB, I've faith in Shaw as first choice. Promote Mitchell or Borthwick-Jackson (or both) as competition. Thought CBJ looked great when first introduced by LVG
The 'shitty league' argument is lazy and people not willing or capable of evaluating individual players. In my opinion Tierney is more than capable of the necessary step up.Shitty league arguement.... Remember a certain dutchman playing in the shitty league some seasons ago? No way Tierney is behind Shaw. While Shaw is very solid defensively, the offensive part of his game leaves much to be desired. Unless we play against top teams(where we would like to counter attack and be more defensive) then Tierney would start. Personally i rate Tierney above Robertson in many areas. Better on the ball, dribling, faster and more agile.
I think having two players of equal quality competing for games isn't a bad thing. Not every young player will make it big, for whatever reason. Shaw still is a question mark for me since his attitude has really been lacking at times so getting Tierney in to put pressure on him and get the best out of both through competition doesn't feel like a problem for me. If they all end up being this close quality wise, just rotate them for every other game, we have so many games per season if we want to compete on every front that I don't think having two quality players in every position has to be a problem.Meunier would be my choice at RB and then we obviously have Shaw at LB with Dalot able to cover both
I really like Wan Bissaka but he's the wrong age, cant have him Shaw and Dalot without eventually moving one of them on as their careers will suffer through lack of games
It's not sustainable for a long period of time though, think back to Heinze and Evra. Tevez and Berbatov. Nani and Valencia. On every occasion one player got more game time than the other. We made a big investment in Dalot and unless we're of the opinion that he wont make it then Wan Bissaka doesn't make sense (certainly at the price he'd cost)I think having two players of equal quality competing for games isn't a bad thing. But, whoever wins out would be stronger for it. Real bought Coentrao when they had Marcelo and they bought Danilo when they had Carvajal. It's not sustainable for a long period of time though, think back to Heinze and Evra. Tevez and Berbatov. A couple of days ago, he was all over us with a win against Arsenal.Meunier seems pretty happy where he is today - all over this Paredes signing on social media
Regardless of who we sign there is no certainty how the player will perform. Even Messi might not work. Same risk associated with all transfers. All players at a club will have to earn a spot, regardless of the name. You argue that Tierney automatically will be behind Shaw, i argue that this will not necassarily be the case.So just because VVD worked out it is guaranteed Tierney will too? Bollocks. Shaw; Not a great crosser, short passing and technical ability is not as good as it should be, not the best at dribbling due to lack of acceleration and technique --> Struggles when there is no space. On the positives; great engine, top speed is excellent, very solid defensively. If we actually had a threat on the right side, there would be more space for Shaw/Martial to operate in and Shaw is better in attack when there is more space. There has been a tendency for people here to vastly underestimate Shaw's ability attacking wise and make every other LB seem like Roberto Carlos in their prime by comparison. If people think someone like Tierney or say Chillwell will be a massive improvement on Shaw they are going to be in for a major surprise.
Dalot cost us what 20m? Wan Bissaka would be at least 30m if not more. £50m for two players of a similar age who play in the same position all the while we're still in need of a CB, RW and maybe even a CM. Doesn't make sense to me that. But, whoever wins out would be stronger for it. Real bought Coentrao when they had Marcelo and they bought Danilo when they had Carvajal.
My thought, exactly. Plus he is said to be a United fan too. Won't have too much trouble sharing some game time with Dalot. It makes sense imo.at 28, he'd be perfect and allows Dalot to develop and eventually take over.
Really? Love that.A couple of days ago, he was all over us with a win against Arsenal.
Well we are competing with a team that spent 80 million on RBs in the same summer of similar age.Dalot cost us what 20m? Indeed and they were pretty widely criticised for itWell we are competing with a team that spent 80 million on RBs in the same summer of similar age.
This is my opinion, but it applies to Meunier as well. He’s 27, it effectively means giving up on Dalot. It's not sustainable for a long period of time though, think back to Heinze and Evra. Tevez and Berbatov. Nani and Valencia. On every occasion one player got more game time than the other. Be a lot more than 50m. Palace would probably want about 40 - 50 for Wan Bissaka.I have always been a huge fan of Fosu-Mensah thought he looked like an animal when he had those run of games at us a year or two back (remember West Ham and Spurs away he was sensational), he done alright at Palace but has had a bit of a nightmare at Fulham so not sure where that leaves him.
If he does go back on loan, I think the lad Wan-Bissaka has been superb for Palace, definitely worth taking a punt, knows the league, no settling in period, him and Dalot fighting for that RB spot as Dalot still seems a little fragile defensively.
I think Tierney is probably the obviously one for left back, him and Shaw fighting for that spot would be great, you could probably get the two of them for what 50m ish? Great business
I do not know who Wissaka is, but we shouldn't ban him just like that.If it was up to me next season we'd have:
RB: Dalot and Ban-Wissaka or Munier
LB: Shaw and Tierney
In reality I expect we'll have Dalot, Shaw, Young and maybe a new RB or Laird might be promoted.
Palace will say 50/60m but how often does that price actually stick, Frankie De Jong was going for over 80m, ended up being 65m to Barca, if we say 30/35m to Palace for one of their kids, that is an awful lot of money to them, can't see them turning it down.Be a lot more than 50m. I’d buy Tierney and rotate him with Shaw - Celtic wouldn’t say to no 25 - 30m.
I actually don’t think we’ll get a RB this year. It’ll be Young, with Dalot & Laird providing back up.
Watched a couple of games he played in and he's quite talented. Was impressed.Think Young will stay, and since Dalot can play on the left to fill in and Shaw being the one who is ready to start, a right back would really help. Feck knows who. Solskjaer mentioned Ethan Laird, so thats a younger option but hes probably a couple years away from having any sort of role.
De Jong went for 65m pounds plus 10m in variables that are almost guaranteed. The 80m bit was probably just euro instead of pounds.Palace will say 50/60m but how often does that price actually stick, Frankie De Jong was going for over 80m, ended up being 65m to Barca, if we say 30/35m to Palace for one of their kids, that is an awful lot of money to them, can't see them turning it down.
If the price goes to 60/65m then so be it. I think Young will stay for another year and probably provide back up to Shawn on the left, with Valencia going, a new first choice RB will probably come in IMO
Nor would I but he's similar age to Dalot, that could hamper his development and I reckon there's a really good player in there.I wouldn't say no to Wan Bissaka
