I'm getting some few surprises every day, so you're telling my Hannibal is actually a used name and not exclusive for Hannibal Lecter ?

Yeah, I'm thinking it might go as high as 40m based on his talent level. This guy isn't just another youth signing. It would be a serious statement signing, of the Vinicius Jnr, Mbappe, O. Dembele level.
If he's a talent with the same sort of potential as the players you mention, then the huge outlay would be worth it..

Yeah, it's the kind of signing you make now, and then he'll be worth 100m by the time he's 20/21. Basically, like Mbappe, everyone has scouted him and Monaco have already turned away Barcelona and Real Madrid. It would be an exceptional coup if United could get him, but I'm not sure we can.

It's being reported that we've been in talks to sign him for several days now and are the club pushing the hardest to sign him. With the player reportedly wanting out, i'd imagine Monaco will try and get the best possible deal and we're a club that isn't shy to splash the cash for young talents under Ed Woodward.

He clearly should sign for Coventry - this is the moment they have waited for since they decided (for some strange reason) to associate elephants with their city

Offer the same sort of deal we have them for Marital, think we've ended up pay8ng like £45m for Marital so it'd be worth it.

It was reported at the time that Woodward kept bidding higher each time Monaco knocked back our offers for Martial. Martial was a player Monaco didn't want to sell at the time, but Woodward put forth a offer that they couldn't turn down. Woodward might be deploying a similar strategy as I write this post.

I'm hoping the final deal will be below that, but somewhere between 15-and-30m plus add-ons.

You seen this kid play? Is he close to being ready for first team football? I've seen some clips of that Ajax youngster, Ryan Gravenberch and wondering if he's at a similar level?

Also @Adnan true, let's hope Woodward structures a similar sort of deal as the Martial one worked out pretty well for us!

Has anyone even seen him play? What are his qualities?
Mbappe level talent is a huge statement.

If there is a player of the French 2003 generation we should be after It's Rayan Cherki.
There's a very high chance he's gonna be better than Mbappe, talent wise he is miles ahead. He's the best teenager I have ever seen in the French youth system and has been touted as Lyon's best product ever, two footed to the point where he takes free kicks with both feet to great success,Messi-like ability to dribble past players, already plays in U19 team of the best academy in France aged 15, as a matter of comparison Martial had barely started to play for the U17 side at that age.

But Mejbri is still a big talent so he'd be welcome here, I read the interview his father gave to l'Equipe and he REALLY insisted that something BAD and PERSONAL had happened in Monaco, he said his wife was traumatized and that the club did WRONG his family

A very high chance Rayan Cherki is gonna be better than Mbappe? A bit premature?

Come on we need this to drag on. It hasn't felt like a transfer window at all!

You think so because you've never seen him play. His technical talent is simply otherwordly, Mbappe while good technically is not exceptional.
There has never been a better 15 year old in the French Football youth system, that includes Mbappe. And I'm not talking about being good at one thing but a COMPLETE player aged 15.
The kid is Lyon's best prospect ever, Aulas didn't give two shits about Martial and Geubbels who were already world class talents yet he's making a fuss about this 15 year old kid by talking about how he wants him to sign a long term contract ASAP.

Wasn't Odergaard the next Messi?

I know a few scouts and his is a name that apparently comes up a lot when discussing youth players and their potential. Can't comment too much on the Ajax player but I would say that, from what I've heard at least, this kid is beyond a traditional youth signing. Scouts around the world have known about him since he was 12/13 and Monaco paid quite a bit of money to get him at 14 years old, also gave his father a job I believe. He's a central midfielder with exceptional ball control and dribbling. Only seen small bits of him but he reminds me a lot of Xavi in how he plays. (Not talent wise, yet! But in terms of play style).

Never heard of the young lad but saying a 15 year old is gonna be better than Mbappe is very doubtful IMO.

Odeegard : Hype created out of the fact that he was the standout in a country (Norway) that doesn't have a strong history of producing world class talent.
Not sure why you'd compare that to a kid who is doing things NEVER DONE in the French youth system or the European one for that matter as he's the YL's youngest goalscorer EVER.

You'll see in a few years.
He is on a different level from Mbappe talent wise, we're speaking of Neymar lvl of talent.

Looks so far like Monaco are refusing to play ball. Player wants to leave, and has requested a transfer. Reliable sources say United are trying to finalize a deal. But it's very hard to tell with these kinds of deals until the announcement is made.

I was only pulling your leg on Odergaard.

I've just gone and checked this Rayan lad out.

Very much like Neymar. The good points and bad points.

Weird running style though.

He is talented but he exclusively plays in his age class which wasn't the case for Mbappé who was mainly playing in older classes. At 16 Mbappé was training with the pro and splitting his time between U19 and Monaco B while Cherki is in U17 and with France U16. On the other hand Monaco has one player, Matazo, who is 16 years old and play in National 2(4th division).

None of that means anything though, 16 years old players are extremely difficult to project in the future, a lot of the current unknown are going to be the actual star in a couple of years.

You'll find a fair bit of cynicism and rightly so, but fair play for sticking to your opinion. As ever, only time will tell.

Surely you are neither disappointed nor surprised. This is the Caf after all. Every transfer thread is like a 14 week trailer for a two minute film after all.
