Better second half, did well before the penalty.

Hard to see how he breaks into the first team anytime soon though.

He’d get 1/10th of the criticism he gets if he just moved off the ball more.

I want Lukaku sold and I never wanted him here but he really wasn't that bad today, had some nice turns and caused them problems. Also ran about a bit more off the ball.

Swear most of you just pick a narrative and let that inform how you watch and judge a match. Just as it was with Matic and I've seen the same with Young recently.

Any other striker would've at least tried for that ball from McTominay near the end, and he just stood there. I really believe he checked out mentally this season.

Not at his worst but contributed almost nothing in a cakewalk against the worst defence in the league. That doesn’t bode well for the rest of the season.

I'm not trying to pick on him or read too much into things just to slate the guy, but I just saw the replay of Pogba's goal and I swear Lukaku's first reaction is to hold his hands out to complain about him not passing.

Edit: And as I type, the Sky pundits are pointing it out.:lol::lol:

It's me or Pogba and Martial don't like him ?
I’ve picked up on that aswell. Constantly throwing their hands up when he fecks up and not looking to pass to him. Noticed that for months now. More so with Pogba which surprised me as I thought they were good mates.

He's got an annoying habit of doing that. Did it with Martial too another moment.

He may be able to turn it around and become a decent player for us, but even so, I think we should sell him in the summer (if we have another attacker lined up of course). He just doesn't fit the team.

He doesn't help himself by not doing the simple things, one of the first things you're taught is to get to the bounce of the ball but he seems to get too concerned with backing into his man and allows it to bounce and then it invariably goes over his head anyway or he only gets a token head to it without any control.

Did nothing wrong today, people are getting pathetic with the criticism.
No howlers from him no, but he barley managed to get involved in a game we completely dominated against a defense that was complete shambles and thats a huge issue. There was a moment in the second half (Smalling chance) on a cross from McTomminay where he was in a great position, but then for some inexplicable reason decided to just stop and the ball fell to Smalling instead

His movement and positioning is absolutely dire, which is why he suffers from an apparent lack of service, hes at the wrong place constantly. If he was some kind of academy prospect then people would get of his back, but hes not. His hold up play is also terrible. 9/10 times he loses the ball or he just flicks it aimlessly on

Considering what Rashford and Martial has shown lately, he has a lot to show to prove he has a place in the team, because right now he is 2nd choice, probably 3rd choice as a CF and that not good enough

Cause he is fecking lazy.
He can't be a target man. Even challenging in the air he looks lazy, like he can't even get off the ground.

He doesn't stretch teams because he doesn't move enough. It's either a fitness issue or an attitude problem, but he's not putting the work in for someone who needs to impress to earn his place back.

He can't link up or hold up the ball as he's technically not on par with his teammates.

What does he do, except finish if it's on a plate for him?

Are you just lashing out? So he's not restricted by the system?
Mata kept coming inside. The three times he ran the channel down the right, we almost scored. No one prevented him from doing it then.

He put in a bit more effort today but aside from one good run he was extremely poor again. I actually feel embarrassed for him. You can tell his teammates are trying to get him involved and set up goals for him but he either doesn't find space, doesn't run or messes up when he gets the ball. Can't believe he is being defended for that performance. The constant arm waving and pointing doesn't help either.

The only reason he hasn't been dropped is because we have no other backups. If he is still here next season and doesn't improve it will become toxic. Fans will be angry at Ed / Glazers for not improving the team and they will probably start taking it out on Lukaku during games, like Fellaini.

And if he had better movement. I was watching him closely today and he just puts his arm up waiting for the ball to magically appear to him.

Rashford is just a different beast when it comes to movement.

It's interesting that Lukaku looks more comfortable in wide areas than in the box. The work for third goal was the best thing he did. Just like against Arsenal it came from wide.

There's a hesitancy in the box with Lukaku that doesn't convince you when he's in front of goal. I hope he can pick up his confidence. When a striker starts doing their best stuff out wide it's a bad sign.

Im gonna stop defending him soon.
I can see it.

For me he was actually decent, linked up well and was great for the penalty but his movement is shocking, his lack of enthusiasm is pathetic and pressing is the worst ive ever seen from a Manchester United player.

Hes actually more immobile than Berbatov and a 30 something year old Zlatan.

I think he's a better player than he's shown this season but he needs to look at his attitude.

I think he knows as well as anyone else that he isn't the right fit as a striker in Ole's style of football, he knows he's not first choice and he doesn't have any faith in himself to win the position back. Some players would react to the situation he's in by running themselves into the ground but Lukaku just looks dejected and beaten.

People saying he did nothing wrong; that's exactly what it is worrying though. In a game against the worst defensive side in the league he just didn't look like he was going to do anything of note. The bit of play at the end summed it up. He was easily shrugging the Fulham CB off the ball and had the ball in his possession but made a poor couple of touches that made it easy for Chambers to swoop in and take it off him. Even the bit of play which he made for the penalty was a poor pass into Mata (behind him). I have tried really hard to defend him this season but it's getting more and more difficult to do that, especially since he has recognised himself that the weight gain was the issue. He can't use that as an excuse for his work-rate and poor general play.

I could call him wank, but a wank usually have a nice ending.

Did he do anything remotely productive on the field today? I can't remember even a single thing.

Of course he didn't do much but when you have one defender behind you and the ball in front of you any decent player should be able to control it.
But he couldn'

Lets not talk rubbish for the sake of it and make up things in our heads.
His touch wasnt the problem.

His run before the penalty was only thing of note.

Against a laughably bad defence he didn’t even look like scoring.

Movement is woeful, and he’s so lazy.

UTD! I am not fond of the Glazers.
He is quite useless nowadays isnt he? What does he bring to the team? Rahsfords not gonna lose the spot for this guy. I would hope we can find him a proper role, if not then move him on fast.

I'm usually one of the first to lay into Rom but I thought he was okay, nothing exemplary, but his first touch seemed better today and he won his share of duels in the air too.

Maybe it's just a case of lowering my standards but I must say I'm a bit surprised to see this much criticism for him.

Lukaku will ask for the ball but he won't make the run. After wards he will stick his thumb up and say thank you. Thats just the funny part though, the worst part is his general play. God knows we could ship 6 past fulham today if lukaku could control and pass in one setting. I don't know how chelsea binned morata but we have got to do the same somehow at the end of this season.

Seconded. Pogba and Lukaku used to be on each others social media all the time and they haven't been for a good part of a year now. I think Mourinho really did divide them Lukaku against Pogba and martial.

i've noticed they pass to him way less nowadays too. But maybe thats because they dont trust him to keep the ball
