A penalty for me. He started fouling him outside the box and continued inside and his knee got involved too.

Vinicius is too weak

He has cost Real this half
Of course he's the one to get fouled for a pen:lol:

Great pen for Ramos and fully deserved lead for Real. Atletico have been wank, especially when you consider that they are the home side and this is the worst Real Madrid in years.

I know people here don’t rate Vinicius, but I think he’s phenomenally promising. He’s an 18 year old in a white shirt playing to a Simeone led Atlético. There’s a handful of teenagers in the world that can play at that level.

The hand on the shoulder is outside the area
The actual foul happens when gimenez goes to ground and clips vini's left foot. What happens outside the box wasn't even a foul. Stupid and a bit unlucky, but seriously very very stupid

EDIT: right foot, not left

I do rate Vinicius.

Are there any other 18 year old players who are starters at big clubs? Maybe there is some but it would be quite surprising.

I see a very good dive :D .I thought VAR would see the dive and would take the previous action(the light touch in the shoulder) as the reference.
VAR is a joke.Good for us today but too confusing

Nah man, clear foul. The action happens between vinicius right foot and gimenez left tight. It's just inside the box. MAYBEEEEE Vini was already off balance and going to fall, but the moment gimenez takes out his right leg it no longer matters

I agree the ref has been very confused. No consistency whatsoever. Yellows that made little sense, Case honestly should be on a yellow, and he's just been erratic in judging identical situations. Case in point, Correa's bodycheck on Vini on their goal. He'd previously left and even clearer identical foul by Lucas V on Lucas H go

Corea first bodychecked him and then got the ball and it ended in Griezmann scoring. How did you miss that part?
I didn't miss that

A prime Bale wouldn't have let that happen

I am not saying the current Bale should play over Vinicius, he's lost much of what he once had. It is just the natural downside of starting an inexperienced 18 year old away at Atletico, where you know it is gonna get physical.

I also thought Godin shrugged him off too easily in the box once, what could have ended in a very dangerous chance if he had kept his balance.

That's what Dortmund do for a living. They breed talent for the big cluvs to come and picl them up.

I'd say it's expectations that define how big a club is, not stadium attendance.
Dortmund and Real Madrid have the same number of league titles this decade and Dortmund is currently leading the Bundesliga. They are not sitting in mid table while they are breeding some talents. Ridiculous to say that Dortmund is not a big club. There are just some big clubs who give more opportunities to young players than others (Dortmund, United, Atletico, Real, PSG, Arsenal, Tottenham vs Barca, Bayern, City, Chelsea).

Even with VAR Real still get help from the refs. Some things will never change I guess

That was extremely tight. I don't think it was clear enough to be ruled out.
VAR is literally there for such situations. If it's ruled out, it probably means it's offside ;)

Maybe, but they could have made it clear then from the footage. Now they showed one still from a poor angle. I mean it's not a computer that decides on the call. It's some blokes in a dark room somewhere.

It's about damn time i say!

Yeah but I do love reading salty comments on this forum.

We have refs caught on cameras in VAR rooms high-fiving each other after they make dubious calls against Real and then you read this type of comedy gold comments here.

Stay salty boys, I absolutely love it.

Btw, these thughs are not playing football any more. It's wrestling at this point. I just hope no one gets injured.

It is a computer that draws the line for offside. Did you not see them showing the graphics in the first half some 10 minutes after Griezmann goal?
