I think one thing in Oles favour and why he’s a better option than an outsider is the fans just love him.

If we play poorly and it’s clearly the players they’ll get the brunt of it. Unlike they did under everyone who has followed fergie, the players have nowhere to hide.

Ole has done it, delivered on the pitch and is Man Utd, just like Fergie was. Not quite to the same level yet obviously but in 2-3 years time he’s the only manager I can imagine having more power than the players with our fan base behind him.

I want to see us back to the point where we’d drop our star striker because he’s being a t##t again.

But for a dramatic decline in team performance, which I can't see happening, it's difficult to see Ole not being offered the job full-time given his record to date.

I for one couldn't be happier.

Are we certain that Fergie wasn't just a front? Maybe Ole was always the power behind the throne and that's why he had to start himself the bench so many times

It would explain so much

Still wounder why pouch is choice of redcafe!
Meh. He built up a massive 70 odd percent lead before Ole was even an rumoured as a caretaker candidate. He has been falling ever since and a lot of people probably don't even know you can change your vote

Much more likely Mike Phelan was the genius behind it all.

If we beat PSG and progress.
If we beat Liverpool too IMO Ole will get the job even before the season ends. He done brilliantly no one ever would imagined that, but for me it is better to wait until May to decide.

Yeah or can't be bothered. There's probably a sizable number of people who probably don't care that some of us are spunking over the importance of a random poll.

Mike Phelan was always the power behind the throne. Both Ole and Fergie are just his puppets.

I don't doubt that Pochettino is a better manager, overall. What he's done with Spurs is top class. But he's not necessarily the better suited to United. With Ole it just seems written and I can't imagine another manager being more passionate about the club, which is clearly infectious.

People keep repeating that Poch managed to compete for Top 4 with small budget but Moyes used to do that with Everton with even much smaller budget albeit Everton played more defensive football and have less success than Spurs.

Everyone thought Moyes could at least do a decent job at Man Utd with much bigger budget. The rest is history.

Ole should given the job and they fall back option should be Poch.

Terrible comparison. Moyes made it into fourth once, at a time when there were only 4 teams consistently competing for the top 4 (ie one poor season from one of those teams left fourth wide open). Poch has kept Spurs consistently in the top 4 for the last 3, likely to be 4 years, while competing with 5 other teams for 4 places.

Poch is an upgrade version of Moyes. Moyes kept Everton averaged around 7th spot while Poch around 4th spot. Poch plays attack while Moyes play defend.

Do people want a better version of Moyes or Solsjaekr trying to emulate Fergie style ?

Poch is definitely not going anywhere next season. They are moving to new stadium and levy will do everything to keep him next year. We will have to stoop so much backward for him such that it would feel an insult. It should be other way round. We are Man Utd FFS.

Ole is our own and he has shown enough quality as manager. How proud it is for a club like Man Utd to have a manager coming from its ranks? It is a priceless feeling. Man Utd always stands for its own be it players or manager. We mean business but we give fair chance to our own, and with that we have been dominating the world of football. That's what makes us Man Utd, a realm, a holy chalice of beautiful football, not chasing after mirages and greener grass like a desperate needy small minded club.

The gap of votes between Poch and Ole is decreasing. Come on, just little more and it'll be equal. :D

There isn't a single quote from a club representative within the article to support its validity - not even a token "a source close to the club said" - yet The Sun and Neil Custis are calling it an exclusive.

Modern-day journalism in a nutshell.

I was expecting the fish papers to jump the gun as soon as I heard that Ole met with the Glazers after Fulham yesterday. I don't believe the club had mad a final decision just yet and I also don't buy that if they did, that Neil fecking 'fat man' Custis would be the first one to get the scoop :lol:

It definitely feels like he's in the drivers seat for the job at the moment, as he should be given how much he's really transformed almost everything surrounding the club since taking over, but I highly doubt the club wants to rush a decision like this.

Although I initially voted Jardim as I thought he had done well at Monaco and previous clubs. Changed my vote to Ole.

When Jardim was going back to Monaco I was firmly behind Ole.

Although there is still quite a bit of the season left my favourite for the job would now be Ole over Jardim even if the latter was available due to the amazing job Ole has done so far.
Just hope he is able to keep the results up as I am proud of the amazing way he seems to have turned the club around in such a small space of time.

Given the benefit of hindsight, I think letting Giggs stay on after Moyes was binned could not have been any worse than Van Gaal.

I cannot really see any reason not to give Solskjaer a chance now. Is this a DiMatteo honeymoon period? Dunno. Are the players playing because the wicked witch is dead and the dross will return next season? Dunno.

But Pochettino as Manchester United probably raises similar questions. Think I might be changing my vote.

I truly hope the club haven't made any decision yet, it's still far too early

What I will say is Poch's little digs at us in the media (more so yesterday than after the game against Spurs) have certainly dampened my interest in him

Said this in the Ole thread. I was listening to the Guardian football weekly podcast the other day and they mentioned that a BBC journalist who has links with the United board had said Ole on a permanent had already been decided at board level after the Leicester game, hence the reason the Glazier's were at Fulham to see him, the team and the fans in action.

There's also been a big media charm offensive from the club in the last couple of weeks with players coming out in support of Ole and the backroom staff, and now we're getting full blown BBC articles on the job Ole has done in changing the toxic atmosphere around the club. It looks to me like they're paving the way for an announcement.

There's a lot journalists can't print but that doesn't stop them from talking to each other. The advantage the Sun have is that they've already burnt all their bridges and no clubs talk to them so they have absolutely no problem printing something that they've heard as a rumour with evidence that could damage their relationship with said club. They're fecking trash but they will print anything that sells papers, regardless.

What did he say? He's said way to much recently, the pressure of us having a vacant manager position and him being linked seems to have got the better of him.

My thoughts exactly. Nice tone to the article but when I read stuff like this and there is nothing there to substantiate it, it just irritates me.

He seemingly felt the need to say before Spurs' game yesterday that Leicester should have beat us last week.

He's entitled to his opinion but feck him. Regardless of whether he thinks we should have beat Leicester. We won and that's all that matters.

Although I haven't seen him in the media recently, it would seem strange to be having snipes at his next potential employers, if he interested in the job

I'm coming round to the idea of Ole as the permeant manager, the way we have played, and they way he has handled himself have been so impressive, but i still think we need to be a cautious, I mean we only need to look accross at whats happening at Chelsea and to a lesser extent Arsenal, mangers coming in and having a great startand then things tailing off. We'vr also seem caretaker managers produce incrdible bounces before and not be able to stick it out long term.

Solskjaer has always had a special place in my heart, and would love nothing more then him to be the manager we have been looking for for the last 6 years.

So for me im just enjoying the ride, If at the end of the season things are still going well, we are top 4 and had a decent run in the champions league, and we have a director of Football who works well with Ole, then by all means offer him a contract, but untill we get to that point I just want to enjoy the ride and enjoy seeing Solskjaer back at old trafford.

You're comparing apples with oranges. We've been appointing managers and allowing them to implement their style a philosophy on us when that was never going to work for us, Chelsea and Arsenal are finding out the same thing now. If they're both going to be successful they need a couple of seasons and full backing like Pep and Klopp have gotten respectively. Solskjaer doesn't need that as we've continued to buy players in the 'United' mould, not players in the Moyes, LVG, Mourinho mould, with the odd exception of course.

If we don't stick with Solskjaer, we'll find ourselves in a world of trouble before Christmas next year, ala Chelsea/Arsenal.

my only suggestion to the board is - don't jinx this until the end of season. Announce now, announce later, what's the difference?

I see there are more votes for Solskjaer today and less for Pochettino. People are starting to come around! Can't wait to see the poll on Tuesday night!

You might be right, Solskjaer may be able to carry and succeedd while other managers have taken dip once the bounce has worn off becuase he isnt tyring to drastically change players to fit to his style.
But equally we've seen managers come in and the simple change of has given the club a massive bounce, and it tails off. yes some times its due to its atacually takes some time to implement a philosophy like with Pep, Sarri Emery. Other times a legend has come in and made a great start but once the novelty has worn off and the grind sets in they have struggled, di matteo, dalglish's second liverpool spell come to mid, also the list of caretaker managers who been given the job on a full time bases and then not worked out is pretty extensive.

All im saying is lets wait till near the end of the season, in the mean time work on getting in a director of football, keep the search for the next coach going. So we don't limit ourselves. Hopefully it will work out will Ole, but lets also keep a prgamatic view on it too an learn from history.
