A good win mostly because I think everyone out there is expecting us to take a nose dive soon. The downside, even though we won, was the now routine questions over squad depth and the performance of certain players. Lukaku has become virtually irrelevant, he was conspicuous because everyone charged past him. He looks utterly lost. Sanchez tried again but to come up short as a sub against Fulham further highlights his decline. The interplay between Pogba and Mata up front more than made up for Lukaku’s lack of guile. Martial and Pogba were outstanding and I think Pogba was MoTM. Jonah played like a man with a new contract and might have scored with a long range shot. Smalling settled in well and played a quiet but effienct game. But, Fulham disappeared after their first chances and in the end it was probably one of our easiest victories.

DDG - Impressive display of different methods of taking goal kicks straight to the other team

Dalot - Did well considering part of our tactics seemed to be to never have a team mate within 100 yards of him
Jones - Good shot, though you have to consider it was Phil Jones which means there's the strong possibility he was actually trying to head the ball off for a throw in.
Smalling - get a haircut
Shaw - How is he so good at picking out passes yet so poor at picking out crosses? Had a good game again though

Matic - Maybe the reason he's never rested is because without him there'd be no one to needlessly get themselves booked
Herrera - Game was so easy he didn't even have to outrageously cheat. Did manage to win a freekick by slipping over and fowling someone.
Pogba - Paul Scholes like first half display. Although in fairness Paul Scholes could probably still play like Paul Scholes against this Fulham side. Still can't ask for much more.

Martial - Great goal. He just needs to stop trying to cleverly square the ball about 10 times a game. It literally never works and if he just carried on running at people instead what exactly are they going to do about it?
Lukaku - I can understand being low in confidence or form, or even just being a bit rubbish, but you know, run about a bit, kick someone, get yourself onside once in a while. Anything.
Mata - Won a penalty. I still after all this time don't understand the logic of playing a slow left footed player on the right wing. What exactly is it he's supposed to be doing?

Sanchez - Should have scored. His face is too defnined and it makes him look old. His performances would improve if he grew a beard to mask this
McTominay - Even he was taking the piss.
Bailly - Came on for some reason.

Overall - Shockingly easy game which we dealt with about as well as you could hope. At least we makes teams like this look bad now. 3 months ago we'd have lowered ourselves to their level and then tried to beat them by turning up for 10 minutes after half time.

Fulham - this is what I imagine it would be like to have a team of Lukakus at the moment.

We started really shaky and those two chances that Fulham missed would had make an entire different game, but as long as the first Pogba goal entered we were in absolute control.

Pogba is a beast, I’m really surprised with him, world class his technical ability combined with his physicality makes him a nightmare for our rivals.

Smalling and Jones had a great game, both making up their case to really trouble Ole on who’s going to be Lindelof’s partner.

Martial goal was incredible, everytime he has the ball you can sense the fear.

Great game all around, lets keep it up against PSG.

This was job done in exactly the manner it should be. No games are easy these days and you can’t and won’t win every match 3-0 but it’s good to see us at least attempting to swat lower teams aside. That’s something that’s been missing since SAF left.

Beyond the really dodgy opening 10 minutes thankfully went as it should. Pogbas 1st goal was pretty clever and Martials was a beauty.
Will never tire of Pogba scoring penalties given his run up annoys so many people.

Where was Fred? Would have thought yesterday would have been a handy sub appearance.

Besides one run Lukaku offered nothing and is starting to get more and more frustrating every week. Its like he makes runs where he knows the ball wont get to him.

That's the sharpest I have seen him since joining United, I hope that is what is still to come. Should have scored, but overall his play was much better, let's hope he can look as sharp if he gets the chance against the bigger teams.
I do believe that he can be very important to United during the rest of the season and just maybe he can perform and score in the big matches.
Like many other players he probably needs a run of games to get his sharpeness back.

Mourinho raising 3 fingers, Mourinho saying it would take a miracle for us to get into top 4…yesterday's 3:0 victory took is into the top4...

Coincidence? I think not.

This was a funny match in that it could have been anything from a 2-2 draw to a 5-0 win for United. That's football as it usually comes down to taking your chances or not and I think this game was a great example of that.

Really happy with the 2nd half professionalism to just close the game without it having to be in any doubt. Sanchez should have scored to make it even more comfortable.

After the Liverpool loss, i.e. his last game, he answered that of course title is out of reach but top 4 is still possible. When did he say that it would be a miracle? Stop inventing stuff and believing morons on reddit. What do you guys get from spamming nonsense like that? Same with the "Martial was going to be sold" crap.

I know Ed has come in for his fair share of criticism but he's had a masterstroke here. I'm sure even in his wildest dreams he didn't expect Ole to have such an iimpact. But, successful or not, he knows all United fans can believe in the romance of Ole as our manager on an interim basis, just to bring some joy back to the club and us fans.

Hit the nail on the head when there was the statement about bringing an insider as the interim. Someone who understands the responsibility of a Manchester United manager. Ole is exactly that and more right now.

The next time he raises 3 fingers, it would probably mean he got sacked three times in a row.

Watching the game now. Very good and professional performance from almost everyone bar Mata and Lukaku. Can't stop watching Pogba and Martial goals. Magnificent.

Just google that RedeTV, I mean just once. There are actually videos in English that prove you are wrong, even at the lowest point at the end he didn't say that. You are definitely not OK.

Maybe you wrote the article that I linked. "Backtracks" pathetic.
So you gonna take the hostile denial approach when proven wrong huh?

We even had Portuguese speaking posters here translating that interview and confirming what he said.

I understand your affection for Mourinho, but at the end of his video he used the word "milagre" which in Portuguese means "miracle" in context of us getting top4, which I'm pretty sure you're familiar with, but hey you keep digging your hole sport.

I know zero Portuguese and I don't pretend to. I'm digging a hole when this instance was denied and there are 10 instances that absolutely go against it?

Why are you so furiously defending someone who made us look like crap and humiliated us for do long.
Calling shit posts shit is not defending. I did like the guy when he was managing Inter, that's all. I have zero affection for the guy, the same way has zero affection to Lukaku and Sanchez and I call out nonsense posts about them too. I do get annoyed by lying and pointless agendas. Repeating same not true things over and over again, no matter the context and if they are true.

Just because you too never liked one or the other doesn't mean they shouldn't be called out. It probably shouldn't be me who does that, but that's a different topic altogether.

I mean, we literally posted an article link here but you choose to completely ignore it.

The press reported it, portuguese speaking people confirmed it but you choose to live under a rock.

You must be probably getting annoyed by your own posts considering that they too are shit.

Oh so a bit less hostile approach this time? Nice.

As I said we had people who speak Portuguese translating and confirming what you said, but hey don't let that get in the way of your interpretation.

Besides how odd for Mourinho, who's got a history of saying something cryptic/ambiguous to try and backtrack on it. Remember when recently he said he didn't want to sell Salah and he didn't want to let him go, only for a video of his old interview to resurface in which he's saying that there's no place for Salah there and that there are many other ahead of him in the pecking order .

I don't know if I say or if I didn't, but if I used that word is not what I feel at all.
So are you telling me that a Portuguese native speaker is giving an interview in his native language and either he can't remember if he used (which he did, it's on record) or that he had used it but didn't want to use that exact word? Now remember we're talking about mister mindgames master himself.

Present me with those 10 instances, I'll wait sport.

Good review of match. However, I think you mean Ronaldo against Fulham in 07/08. It was against Fulham and it was second goal as well and it was a great solo run. However, whenever I see Martial run full on against teams, he reminds me so much of Thierry Henry .
The Henry comparison is apt. The way his primary focus was getting the right connection on the ball for the shot was very Thierry-esque as well. Basically falling down as he did it.

DDG - 2 meaningful saves. Didn't look great coming for crosses. - 6

Dalot - Did ok, had no support whenever he was on the ball. - 6

Smalling - Shocking 10 minutes, then came good. Still can't receieve a pass or give one himself. - 7

Jones - Should shut a few people up after that performence. Very good showing - 8

Shaw - Great in the build up play, having to rely on others for end product consistently, still, another very good outing - 8

Matic - Has improved immesureably since Ole took over - 7

Herrera - Was Herrera, is turning into the Denis Irwin of midfield - 7

Pogba - On another planet at the minute - 9

Martial - Start him all the time, needs to stop passing in positions that he has shown he can score from. - 8

Lukaku - Satisfied with his output today, you can tell he is out of form but he isn't hiding. But for a lack of quality with final balls into him he could have had a couple today I think, also should've had an assist. took up good positions - 7

Mata - It seems silly to not be pulling Lukaku out wide right and have Mata/Sanchez/Lingard occupy this central area in games where Rashford is not playing. He is neat on the ball, one of our better players technically, he just can't influence games from out there. Did well to win the penalty. - 6

-----

Sanchez - Good energy, saw from him exactly what he should be doing as an impact sub, should have scored - 6

McTominay - Again, harried the Fulham players, unlucky not too score with his header. - 6

Bailly - N/A

Making six changes, even against a side near the bottom of the league, requires good judgement and belief in those coming in. Ole showed that yesterday, Mata was the least effective, but none of the players coming in let Ole down, he will probably get more joy from that fact than the actual result...well almost as much!

That superb goal from Martial reminds me of Ronaldo’s in a 1-0 win at Craven Cottage back in 06/07.

Our first choice midfield 3 is excellent but lack decent back up. Just not convinced by Andreas (although his talent on the ball is indisputable), McTominay is a hard working lad but lacks technical ability, just sold Fellaini and Fred is currently missing.

Also Mata seems incompatible with our current playing style

Second half was one of our best this season I reckon. So easy on the eye.
When was the last time United completely take the piss of the opposition? That second half sequence where we keep the ball and Fulham tried to take the ball off Pogba in vain was better than any possession football from LvG or Mourinho

Mourinho was right, Ole, Pogba and whoever Mourinho don’t trust (Martial, Rashford, Herrera etc) is the miracle.
