As we play on the same night as Roma - Porto it's only fair we draw the winner in the next round! City will get the winner of that one though.

What do we make of Spurs - Dortmund? Spurs have been awful for months but have somehow fluked their way to league wins and CL progression. Dortmund also looking shaky of late.

United - PSG. Fingers crossed it's us. We're in great form and PSG have serious injuries.

Roma - Porto. Meh.

Ajax - Real Madrid. Madrid should pass but Ajax will give them a good game.

Tottenham - Dortmund. one month ago I would have said BVB but it's anyone's game really. Still favor BVB a little bit though.

Liverpool - Bayern. Liverpool's pace will tear Bayern apart.

Lyon - Barcelona. Lyon is decent and Barca are hardly spectacular these days away from Messi. Lyon should give them a game but Barca will pass anyway.

Atletico Madrid - Juventus. I'm not watching this shite. Who's going to attack in such match ?

Schalke - Man City. Can see a 7 or 8 aggregate goals for City here.

Lots of good ties over next few weeks. What I like is the match ups will have teams attacking each other rather than being cautious...Man. United-Psg, Spurs-Dortmund, Liverpool-Bayern, Roma-Porto and Ajax-Real Madrid, can see lots of goals in those ties over the two legs.

Thank god someone made this thread. I've been dying to talk about it :D Very obvious which game to watch on the Tuesday, but Wednesday? Not so much... Both could be great games. I guess I'll have to watch both.

I fecking hate that we're on the same time as Barcelona again. I might just end up watching them anyway.

Not on the same day because i think Liverpool will beat Bayern Munich 3-1 or 4-1 and then you wouldn't care about the Barca game ;)

Part of me would still rather watch Messi  But yeah, our game is a good one on paper. Hell, all the English teams have compelling games apart from City. They're all pretty much 50:50 ties, 60:40 one way at most.

2 months ago I thought Porto was slightly favourite vs Roma. Looking at today I think its 55/45 advantage for Roma.

If we get through, I’d like us to get Real (if they even make it). I think their time is up and I’d like us to end their era emphatically.

Think Real Madrid are being a bit underrated. theyre hitting form and absolutely live for this competition, every team in the competition will feel the pressure at some stage but i don't think Madrid will unless they come up against barca.

Same odds as Bayern despite Bayern having a 50/50 last 16 match

Just remembered we’ve got no Van Dijk for the first leg due to suspension.

Uefa president Aleksander Ceferin has criticised "a lack of respect" from top European bosses after 10 managers did not attend a meeting to discuss the use of video assistant referees (VAR).

Ceferin, 51, said the meeting had been held in Frankfurt on Monday with the 16 coaches of the sides left in the Champions League.

But only bosses from Juventus, Lyon, Paris St-Germain, Roma and Schalke arrived with the other clubs sending "assistants, other staff or even marketing people".

Ceferin excused Liverpool from attending as they were playing a Premier League match at West Ham on Monday, which ended 1-1 at London Stadium.

"For me it's not only a lack of respect for [Uefa's chief refereeing officer] Roberto Rosetti's team and the Uefa organisation, but the influence of coaches is huge and if they complain about being refereed they should at least come and see what the experts say about the use of VAR," said Ceferin, who has been re-elected as Uefa president for the next four years.

"Now they do not have any excuses, especially the ones that did not even come."

The other teams that are in the last 16 of the Champions League include Ajax, Atletico Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund, Manchester City, Manchester United, Porto, Real Madrid and Tottenham.

VAR will be used throughout the rest of the Champions League campaign for the first time, with the first legs of the last-16 ties beginning on Tuesday, 12 February.

Wenger is going to be on BEIN Sports for their CL coverage this week. Meanwhile, BT Sports subscribers will have to put up with Macca & Owen. Kill me now.

So excited the CL is back. Seems a good time for you all to be facing PSG as well. Obviously they still have talent other than him but have to think your chances to advance rely on shutting down Mbappe. Do that and you're in the quarters IMO

PSG were pretty good at home but I didn’t think they were amazing at Anfield when we played them. They had Neymar for that one as well.

Wouldn't shock me if United picked up a narrow win.

There's some cracking ties there. Can't wait but I'll have to stream it at work. Reddit's no use for them anymore is it?

Klopp will field a weak side and get knocked out on purpose so his best players are fresh for the league, so they can qualify for the CL again.

Not very confident, 3 of our 4 starters in attack can't play in both games vs Roma (Aboubakar and Marega injured and Corona suspended for 2 games because of a forced yellow card in group stages).

We'll probably be

------------------ Casillas----------------------

Éder Militão ------Felipe -----Pepe ----- Alex Telles

---------------------Danilo------------------------

------------Óliver Torres-------Herrera-------------

Otávio -------------------------------------- Brahimi

----------------------Soares---------------------------

We rarely play 4-3-3 and our manager doesn't like possession style football, thing here is that without Marega we can't play hoofball too. These players are however more suited to a possession style of play.
We actually are much better suited now for 3-5-2 or 3-6-1 as we have 3 good centre backs, 2 full backs that attack well and 2 attacking players that can play wide or central (Otávio and Brahimi).
But we will likely use the tactic I indicated above as Sérgio Conceição is very conservative.

 Get that sour look on his face like when Origi scored versus Wolves in the FA Cup.

Really, REALLY looking forward to the return of the CL  Hope the United/PSG game doesn't disappoint.

It is, they just keep switching names. Google it and find the right one.

I think we will get knocked out by Dortmund :(

I can see us losing 3-1 at Wembley then managing a 1-0 win in Dortmund but it not quite being enough.

I was confident when the fixtures were released, but I have a feeling Dortmund will properly go for it at Wembley whilst Kane and Alli are out. We generally aren't great there and whilst we've been able to get wins against lower teams, I fully expect the lack of Kane in particular to hurt us badly.

I could just be being negative, would hardly be the first time. Oh, and I think United will do PSG. 2-0 at Old Trafford, the team has serious momentum and with PSG's injuries I can see it being another case of a team seizing that opportunity.

The way you word that suggests that you consider Dortmund a lower team?

Yes, I do.

I like the Bundesliga, but I believe the Premier League to have the edge. If we were in the Bundesliga I think we'd be top of the league.

Must add I certainly don't think there's a big gap between us, just that we're a slightly better side when both teams are fully fit. I don't think there is much in it.

Fair play. I think it's a coin flip with both teams at full strength, with them obviously having the edge now Kane/Alli are out. I wouldn't be surprised to see it going how you said it will.

It's a great tie.

Reus is supposedly out, so that might even the odds a little.

It's annoying as hell though because with us at full strength in attack I'd fancy us to be able to grab a few at home against that Dortmund defence. Kane in particular is so vital against the bigger teams because he provides such a fantastic outlet, whereas with Llorente you have an aerial threat but little aside from that. The other option is to go with Son leading the line, but that leaves you without anybody who is comfortable with their back to goal and we'd be pretty predictable.
