Not before the fa cup game, please
Valid point. I don’t believe Sarri is the main problem but playing high press with Barkley? Such a gamble. Why had Kante played the entire game as a right wing/second striker hybrid, exposing Chelsea's underbelly to the Man City attack? You allow your defenders to be constantly put under high-pressure, shit situations and they'll make mistakes.
Wow, they beat Huddersfield. The players are making individual errors. You will never stop banging this “players let the manager down” drum will you
They won their last game 5-0. Did they let the manager “take the bullets” in that game as well?
It’s obvious that the manager sent them out with the wrong tactical plan. They’ve been stupidly open from the first second, and that’s on the way the manager sets the team up.
Yeah, the football was dull but I don't remember you being awful during that period, had some big wins for example. The football was unbelievably atrocious.
The PL was particularly weak at that point too and he still was nowhere near a title challenge.
The kind of pressure they’ve been under since the first minute of the game leads to individual errors happening.Wow, they beat Huddersfield. The players are making individual errors.
Trust me, he was shocking. The most boring football I've ever seen us play.Yeah, the football was dull but I don't remember you being awful during that period, had some big wins for example.
He clearly needed to go and didn't really fit at United, but I don't think he was terrible with hindsight.
That's due to City just being real good at generating chances. Put Kante in midfield and City are still ripping you apart. And on top of that, you can't generate chances of your own because Kante can't do that.Individual moments of stupidity, but they’ve been leaking chances left right and center that put the team under that sort of pressure since the match started. That isn’t due to individual moments of stupidity.
They'll sack him and it'll be the third coming of Mourinho.I’ll be furious if he goes before our game against them, but it’s looking bloody likely on this display.
I disagree. With Pep you could see it was the personnel that was ill equipped. Not the method. With Sarri. The defensive openess every first half is shocking. Especially in midfield. Those who think its a matter of just switching round Kante and Jorginho are plain naive. The team as a whole isn't compact without the ball and position themselves so poorly. Yet since Chelsea's first defeat of the season it hasnt changed. Its like they are trying to defend by hogging possesion. Neglecting what should be done when the ball is lost. This is what people said about Pep Guardiola last season. Chelsea are having to change their whole identity. They have been a counter attacking team since the Roman Abramovic took over. His Napoli side played incredible football. It took Pep a season and a half to coach his players.
Chelsea defend by pressing and compactness. The spacing is an issue.
Fair enough, you'd know better than me!Trust me, he was shocking. The most boring football I've ever seen us play.
He wasn't a complete knobhead like Mourinho though, so there's at least that.
What do you think about Klopp
I think he'll do well unfortunately. If he brings that Napoli style to the players at his disposal, they could be very good. cnuts.
A little strange to dig up old posts on the topic. What do you think about Klopp
Chelsea fans on The Shed End actually asking for Mourinho to come back now, you can't make this up.Chelsea will be on to Mourinho to come back again soon enough ...either that or Mourinho will go round telling people they begged him to come back and he turned them down when they never went near him
Mini honeymoon as in winning the league multiple times and other trophies?
I'll have that thank you very much.
Sarri is making it very obvious why he's not won a single trophy in his career. Naive as hell, stubborn, not a good tactician and sucks at motivating his players.
Time to end this project.
As a matter of fact i'd take Jose back in a heartbeat. He'd shape us up.
You don't see the same disdain for counter-attacking football based on it's worst manifestations (Mourinho this season, Conte last season)Eh, earlier Van Gaal was better than the Van Gaal we had.
I don't hate possession based strategies per say, it's good to see your team 'in control', and there's nothing quite like a perfectly organised and balanced possession based team in full flow.
A lot of criticisms come from the worst of possession based football. A lot of time under Van Gaal we passed sideways and backwards indefinitely for entire matches, having the ball for the sake of the ball while offering nothing ourselves. It was deathly boring and not effective at all especially considering the players at our disposal.
Meanwhile you get teams like Pep's Barce.
It's one of those 'all or nothing' things. Possession based football is either beautiful or dull as dish water..
Again that's what people said about Pep. The match at Leicester where they lost 4-0 at around the same stage of that seasomoney from what I can remember. The Monaco games where they were countered easily. With Pep you could see ut was the personnel that was ill equipped. Not the method. With Sarri. The defensive openess every first half is shocking. Especially in midfield. Those who think its a matter of just switchong round Kante and Jorginho are plain naive. The team as a whole isn't compact without the ball and position themselves so poorly. Hardly digging when it was on the same page as the bump.. and i think you missed the pointA little strange to dig up old posts on the topic.
Such a surreal first half where we were actually quite good but 4 individual errors meant we were 4-0 down at HT (Kepa x2, Barkley & Alonso) 2nd half we have given up I guess. What do Chelsea fans make of this?
I mean, Chelsea are playing some positive attack minded stuff and looking to play in the other teams half. But some of the application defensively is woeful.
I'd argue Sarri had a much better starting point than Klopp though.Such a surreal first half where we were actually quite good but 4 individual errors meant we were 4-0 down at HT (Kepa x2, Barkley & Alonso) 2nd half we have given up I guess.
I fear for Sarri as he may get the sack after this game but look how long Klopp took to make Liverpool decent. He had them midtable ffs.
Klopp inherited a terrible squad apart from Coutinho and Firmino (who was completely frozen out by Rodgers). Sarri inherited a recent title and FA cup winning squad. The difference is quite vast.Such a surreal first half where we were actually quite good but 4 individual errors meant we were 4-0 down at HT (Kepa x2, Barkley & Alonso) 2nd half we have given up I guess.

Jumping on yours and @totaalvoetbal debate. Pep had problems with the weak links in his squad, Sarri (like Mourinho this season) has problems fitting his best players into his. When you have amazing players in their peak who can't get a place in your system then you have a massive issue.I disagree. With Pep you could see it was the personnel that was ill equipped. Not the method. With Sarri. The defensive openess every first half is shocking. Especially in midfield. Those who think its a matter of just switching round Kante and Jorginho are plain naive. I also ddont get why the center back always clear balls back into danger areas
Maybe he should try playing one of the best defensive players in the world in his best position then, that might give them more of a backbone.Sarriball isn't the problem. The problem is the players cannot play SarriBall. The players must be extremely intelligent and everyone must be on the same wavelenth. Anyone not pulling their weight will be exploited ruthlessly. I watched Napoli play teams like Juventus off the park but they were extremely solid at the back and had solid backbone. There's no backbone at Chelsea. He needs to dispose of trash like Luiz, Alonso, Barkley and others.
I'd rather have Sarri than the current version of Mourinho if I was in their place. And no, I don't think Mourinho would even win them trophies in the short term anymore.Chelsea fans on The Shed End actually asking for Mourinho to come back now, you can't make this up.
Kante never played a single pivote for Chelsea, Leicester or France. Playing Kante there would make no difference and Jorghino is not a #8.Maybe he should try playing one of the best defensive players in the world in his best position then, that might give them more of a backbone.
I don't think Abromovich has any patience left for Chelsea to be honest. How much more can he do to give them what is needed! Discarding a dressing room over a manager is costly and doesn't he want to sell up or something last time I heard?Sarriball isn't the problem. The problem is the players cannot play SarriBall.
