I honestly feel that come the City game, if we are still within a point or two of forth, then OGS will get the job. Some of our toughest games will be behind us. With 7 games after City, if we are still playing like we are currently then you would have to fancy our chances of top 4.
City game will be postponed assuming one of the teams make it to the next FAC round.

The next 8 games we decided to next few years of Manchester United:

PSG (H)
Chelsea (A)
Liverpool (H)
Palace (A)
Southampton (H)
PSG (H)
Arsenal (A)
City (H)

If we do well in those games Ole will be bullet proof, he'll probably get the full time job before the season is over. If we stumble and lose 4 or 5 of them that might well derail the Ole train and we'll go all in for Poch. Exciting times.
What makes you think that Poch would win any more of these games than OGS?

Nothing. I don't think I said that he would.

It's indisputable that there is a greater body of evidence behind Poch so it's up to Ole to prove that he can do it. So far he's doing that.

Um, no there isn't. What evidence are you referring to? He hasn't actually won anything. In fact since he's been there, Spurs have kinda been labelled the perennial bottlers. And if you're going to use the "look what he's done at Spurs with limited resources argument", that's one of the reasons why Moyes got the gig. Look what's happening with Sarri at the moment. There's no evidence whatsoever that Poch would be a success at United.

I just think it's really dumb and short-sighted that anyone would say OGS isn't up for the job just because he loses any of the big games coming up. It's not as if no other manager has ever lost big games before. Fergie lost a shitload whilst he was here.

The next three games are going to be huge. Each of the three are of important for different reasons.

When was the last time we beat a genuine title challenger over two legs in the CL? Probably Chelsea in 2011. So getting past a team like PSG will bring so much belief into this team.

Then we have Chelsea at the Bridge. Last time we beat them there was under Fergie in 2013. They always do well against us in the domestic cups. So that would another challenge.

Finally, Liverpool at home. We could potentially derail their title challenge with a win here. City can be relentless in these situations and a loss here could completely rattle Liverpool.

Can Ole do the unthinkable and win all three? Super-excited for the games but wouldn't worry too much if things don't go our way because these are genuinely tough fixtures that any manager will struggle against.

Well there just is. I defy anybody who has followed English football not to notice the vast improvements Spurs have made under Pochettino and yeah OGS has won two Norwegian league titles and a Norwegian cup and kudos for that but if you look at the respective CVs of the Poch and OGS. Poch has the most impressive CV. End of Story.

I have strange confidence for first time post Fergie that we can win any game.
I look back at wins away to City, home to Liverpool last season then away to Juve this one. That's when we were a shell of the team we are now under Ole. I think it's fair to say we could beat anyone on our day .

Strange how these things works; the team make you trust the luck will always be on your side. I see a senario against PSG where they burn some huge changes early on, and United get a lucky goal instead. Just impossible to lose.

I would take that in a heartbeat. But I think we will start this game with crazy attacking football and get an early goal or maybe two.

There's no denying he's improved Spurs. I just fail to see what relevance that has to what he would do at United. You've got no basis on which to make any assumption in that regard. We've seen many times how players and managers have been successful at one club and failed miserably at others. It was only Poch himself that stopped the rot with Spurs going through managers like there was no tomorrow during the last 10 years before him. They were trying all the big names that had done well at other clubs.

Unless you're telling me that Poch would definitely win the next 8 games coming up for sure if he was at United, I don't see how he is a better proposition. As for an impressive CV?? You having a laugh? The guy's won nothing ffs. Ranieri's got a better CV than Poch! OGS has already written himself into United's history books in his first two months. How's that for an impressive CV?

Would you have the same view if he lost to Dortmund on Wednesday or would you make up some new rhetoric?

Or at least he did, until Ole got here and started smashing records left and right with a team that looked a lost cause in terms of top 4 ;)

Definitely see the point, though. They play lovely football, the likes of Son, Kane and Eriksen would be welcome additions to our squad as far as I’m concerned, and the way they smashed Real in the group stages was a sight to behold. They’re also top 3 despite no reinforcements in the summer.

First priority is to beat Liverpool. Second priority is to progress in the FA cup. Third priority is a good showing against PSG.

Yes, possibly. United got the momentum and could profit from really aggressive pressure from start. Against Fulham, your top 4 were in many ways your best defenders. PSG must smell a bit of insecurity with weaker performances lately and key players out. If United go wild the first 5 minutes, that insecurity could be something to build on.

Next 8 games are brutal. If we are still in/very near top 4 and in quarters of UCL, then the job must be his.

So, if what Poch has done at Spurs has no relevance to United because anybody could fail anywhere. Why look at the previous employment record of anyone? I clearly does have a relevance.

Secondly you're the one who is seriously claiming OGS has a better CV than Poch because the former has won 9 games and I presume would rather have Ranieri, Alex McCleish or Di Matteo in as our manager because they've won something.

Thirdly, yeah I would have the same view so that answers your question.

Finally, do me a favour and calm down babe xxxxx.

All in saying is that if we appoint Ole (which i'd be quite happy with) we've gambled which is fine by me.

And yeah you're right and they Poch has transformed them from a total shambles to genuine top side is very impressive but I still think there are questions to answer about Poch as well.

Yes hes doing well at Spurs, and Ole is doing well here and in our case i'd say: Doing well at United > Doing well at Spurs, is a pretty reasonable stance. When it comes to the CV bit, well Ole has won some silverware, Poch has not, depends on what you emphasize really. Poch has more PL experience as a manager for sure, but Ole has played here most his career and he did coach the reserves for quite some time so its not like hes foreign to the league either.

Placing our faith in Ole is a risk, but so it is with Poch. It seems people think Tottenham was some kind of shite Championship club when he took over which they were clearly not. Just look at their squad. Thats a pretty fecking good squad and many of the key players (Verthongen, Erikssen, Kane) were already there

Considering Pochettino has repeatedly stated his desire to stay at Spurs, it's conceivable that if he does leave, it will not have been his decision. Would those in favour of him now still want him here then?

If we wait until the end of the season, which we should to appoint the new manager, and it’s OGS - then it’s not a gamble at all. He would have had 25 games or thereabouts as an audition, and he would have proved to the club that he had what it takes to be the next manager.

Appointing Poch or any other manager will be a gamble (as is any managerial appointment as any club). At least 50% of managerial appointments are unsuccessful. Spending £30m to release Poch from his contract only to find he fails at Utd could be a massive mistake (clearly it could be a success also).

If the man in the driving seat proves to be good enough, let’s keep him. That’s far less of a gamble than bringing in someone else.

This is correct. We will know as much as we need to know about Ole's long term prospects here by the final whistle of the City game on March 16th. Brutal is the perfect word. My fingers are crossed.

Some people seem to act like the criteria for Solskjær to prove he’s good enough is never lose a game

The improved atmosphere around the whole, fans & players. Far better style along with 10 wins in 11, unbeaten so far has convinced me that I want to see Ole as permanent manager

I think we've been poor since the Bournemouth game. Don't wanna criticise Ole which is why I'm only saying it now but I saw this result coming a mile off. We're nowhere near their level regardless of missing Neymar/Cavani so I was surprised to see so many thinking we'd win.

Credit for the results but since Bournemouth, bar Arsenal away, I think we've played poor football. In the first few games the amount of times we were playing passes between the lines out from the back was beautiful. Now, we hardly do it anymore, which is a huge detriment to us.

I'm not writing him off because I'd love nothing more than him to succeed but I haven't been impressed with our football bar our first 3 games and Arsenal away.

Seems a bit kneejerk. We had a couple of bad games like Reading and Newcastle but I think we played good counter attacking football even in the first half against Leicester and some other games.

The problem has been our depth. Our subs don't attack as well as the first choice front 3 and feck us up whenever they come on. And some of our personnel need upgrading as they are inconsistent and impact our ability to keep playing well for 90 minutes.

To each their own, mate. Our lack of depth is definitely an issue but even when our first 11 is on the pitch I think we've been poor to watch. Great results, mind.

Last week Ole could do no wrong...now we’ve been poor since Bournemouth

This is what frustrates the more sensible fans on here...
Nothing fickle. I haven't been on here since Ole was appointed so I wasn't posting nonstop praise.

Lingard and Martial coming off killed us but the Mata decision is one I suspect he’d change.

Maybe not everyone has jumped on board regarding Ole. And I think perhaps the wise thing is to still wait and see for a while.

We lose our first game in 12 against a top class side and instantly Solskjaer is being discredited. Losing Martial and Lingard was a major blow to the plan and changed the outlook of the game from that moment. Our squad has very average back up not capable of playing the United way, unfortunately.

Can't fault Ole tonight, he started with a worse hand than Tuchel and losing Martial and Lingard was gameplan out the window. Add to that some very shoddy performances from our lot and a coward of a ref.

I haven’t “jumped on board” with Ole either...but my point is more that I think this is once again a reality check for those who seem to think “fixing” Utd is just about who sits in the dugout

No, of course not, but I will add that as a Norwegian following his time at Molde, I'm not totally convinced.

He was dealt a major blow in losing two vital players in his system. My only complaint is bringing Mata on instead of Lukaku. I think that was pretty juvenile, but it's a very minor complaint in an otherwise brilliant caretaker manager for us.

I have faith in him going forward. Not every game goes to plan and not every sub comes in full agreement with supporters.
