CL Thread
Bayern's defence on the break is like the 1970's size of the hole in the ozone layer... They'll probably go for it in attack to, it's duty in that club.
Cannot wait for this game. We will absolutely kick the shit out of them.
They aren't mugs. They have plenty of quality to cause us problems. I am confident in our lads, but we need Lovren to recover because a makeshift CB pairing is not something you want against Lewandowski.
With Van Dijk, we would have battered them 3 or 4 nil. Without him, 3-1 is more likely.

That'll be enough for the return leg.

What a brilliant feckin tie....two true European heavyweights going against each other
We're coming up against a side that's been in the Champions League every season for the last 1000 years, winning it as recently as 2013 whilst getting to the latter rounds nearly every season. It's our second season back in the CL in a row since the days of Rafa. Yeah, we're not favourites for this one by any stretch of the imagination, and that's exactly how I'd prefer it. You'd think we were playing Spartak Trnava judging by some of the posts on here.
Hope we smash them for Klopp. Their fans are presumably hoping to embarrass Klopp due to the BVB/Munich rivalry, so it'd be nice to properly feck them up. 5-1 at Anfield, 1-1 in Munich.
The United game after the first leg has been moved to Sunday, so it should have no bearing as we get 5 days between the first leg and then travelling to the Toilet.
second time this "toilet" thing I see today:rolleyes:

Manchester United vs Paris Saint Germain

There’s nothing to be said about United that hasn’t been iterated and reiterated over the last few months.

Once a bastion of England’s hopes in Europe, United are now little more than a distraction. A decade ago, they were lining up against their domestic rivals Chelsea and they pulled through an enthralling final on penalties.

But their fall from grace has been spectacular.

Look back a year ago, even. United crashed out of a seemingly favourable last-16 leg against Sevilla and this year, having been drawn against PSG, all they can hope for is an incredible turn of form to give themselves even a hint of a chance against France’s top team.

PSG, meanwhile, look incredible. Having faced a tough group containing last season’s runners-up Liverpool and the ever-dangerous Napoli, they finished top and looked relatively comfortable doing so. Unsurprisingly with a team consisting of Mbappe, Neymar and Cavani, they’re also top scorers for this year’s UEFA Champions League.

The real test for them is whether they can get into the semi-finals for the first time in their history.

Aggregate scoreline prediction: Manchester United 1 – 4 Paris Saint Germain.
bolded: this guy saw our future, thanks. It was posted on 17th of December.

Heard the managerial genius Paul Ince talking on the radio about characters in the United dressing room when they won titles and compared it to Liverpool's two draws.

No mention of the players - the 'characters' - we were missing for those two draws.
Didn't he say he could have gone into United and do same job as Solksjaer has?

Deluded idiots.
And where were their characters when Chelsea and Newcastle humped them 5-0 in that time?

Pundits , sky etc should be happy we are were we are. Without us the league is basically over and it’s only February. Whatever happens lets hope we can invest again with 3 worldies in the summer and do the same again next season and again.
It does make me laugh how the media seem to sweep those defeats under the carpet as if it never happened. We draw 2 games and we have buckled under the so called pressure...
It does make me laugh how the media seem to sweep those defeats under the carpet as if it never happened. We draw 2 games and we have buckled under the so called pressure.

I was listening to Max Power on talkshite the other day and he was trying to peddle the story “LIVERPOOL HAVE ONLY WON 2 GAMES IN 2019” like we had lost the other games and we had slipped to 4th.
That Norwich Numpty who presents BTSport, Jake somebody, had a brain fart/freudian slip last night and said "Liverpool got back to winning ways after their two defeats" ....
I heard on commentary yesterday that we are 18pts better off at this stage than we were last season! A season where we finished 25pts behind City.

By my estimation they're gonna finish at least 7pts worse off than last year ... so we've closed the gap and we ARE good enough to win it providint we keep our nerve and continue at this rate.

Utd will up their game against us and TRY to revenge their loss, but it will matter not a jot- we'll make a right example of them.
Ole's yet to show any sort of tactical "nous". At the highest level, it's about tactics- not how attacking you are and judging by Ole's comments up to now- he thinks it's just a matter of "letting them play".Klopp will just come up with a tactic and they will hit their head against that wall time and again- attacking play totally nullified and all, while we play our game.

They're still in the new manager bounce- where they're running on optimism and hope- fuelling their form.

It's gunna be a massacre.
Naw, he's doing well let's be fair. But if we turn up with the right mindset, and get at them with the sort of flair we showed for our 3rd yesterday, then we can absolutely go there and win.
Utd will up their game against us and piss their pants against City guaranteed, fans come on here every year and say I can’t wait to play Utd at their ground a wipe the floor with them and every we come away with nothing, I can’t remember the last we beat Utd away, I know it comes across as being negative, but it’s true, I hate this fixture.
The last time we beat them over there, we were going for the title and they were occupied with fighting for the 4th place trophy.

Manchester United appoint Oín 5ollum Ar-Sakalthôr thread:
Haven't been following their games of late but according to some they are now the best side in the country and Rashford is the reincarnation of jesus christ. Also Pogba is hands down the best midfielder in Europe right now.
Easily the best midfielder in history, and Solskjaer's statue is currently on the way to Manchester right now. We might as well not show up next year, title's theirs.
Cavani now out too, the luck these get is never ending. Feels like every time they have a big game the oppo miss most of their best players. We'll probably get ravaged v Bayern injury wise.
So PSG won’t have neymar, meunièr or cavani, come on kylian lad

Saw a full game of theirs for the first time in a while, not bad. Helped by Fulham having no real plan nor purpose in either phase but Solksjaer has them working to a decent shape defensively and moving the ball with 1,2 touches, getting numbers higher, aspects that have gotten more out of the team. Incorporated Pogba well, which has been a surprise, fair play. They're better to watch than most sides in the division due to the risks they take but that will have a shelf life, this crunch period of playing the bigger sides now could put a spanner in the works, if it doesn't he's in with a shout of the job surely.
Probably sounds a bit daft given their form but I think I’d rather face this united than one Mourinho would set up to Frustrate and grind out a 0-0 against us.

We all know Ole is playing the ‘united way’ as they say so hopefully we can exploit their rather poor defence and the game will be a bit more open

Good win for them today against shite opposition. Top four is looking more likely for them..
Red Mancs everywhere moaning about the Mane goal being offside and reffing decisions in our favour to try and hand the title to us!!?!

Tell you what ... if any are lurking here ... suck it up, you scruffy feckers. We had to watch you lot get every decision for fecking years under Ferguson so Travellers to the lot of you! Hahaha
I feel ofended now:nervous:
Mourinho really understand how to feck up our game, but I worry about this game only because we always lost to shite United teams. However, get the chances that Fulham got in the opening 3 minutes and we'd be out of sight before they woke up. Our midfield won't allow Pogba to run like everyone else has done and will exploit the hole he leaves.
Wonder which Manc supporting Ref will get our match?
Atkinson as ref, with Friend and (Manchesters) Anthony Taylor as assistants, maybe bring Howard Webb out of retirement as 4th official, with Mike Riley on VAR
They got outperformed on xG by Fulham. It was a flattering win. Hope they start believing the hype and come at us.
I mean that just proves stats are utter shite, because if you watched the game with your eyes it was an absolute routine victory for them.

Most of Utd’s goals since Mourinho was sacked are exactly the types of goals we simply don’t concede. I’d be far more worried about Mourinho taking points off us because he’ll drag you down to the gutter to fight there. This team under Frodo will walk in thinking they can go toe to toe.
Frodo:houllier:
Honestly. They’ve been shite for a while now, since spurs battered em (and lost) they’re lucky the opposition forget how to shoot when they’re playing them.

We’ll smash these 0-3 at the Old Trafford, no doubt.
to be honest mate I'd take any win, we have a fairly poor record at Snake Mountain

I'm not saying this is exciting but it's fecking mad.

Let's have a quick look at the relegation battle - https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/tables
Most sane people are likely thinking 2 teams are doomed & will probably be accompanied in taking the dreaded drop by 1 of 7 is it? But no, apparently not, :nono:.

Rawkite #1 is the first to spot it.
I think Everton are in big trouble.
Rawkite #2 agrees
Everton are interesting. And not much joy at home to come.
and Rawkite #3 is on the case too
Noticed that. They could get themselves into big trouble in the next month. They are currently 500-1 to be relegated......just saying
OK, please don't lump on until you've considered the supporting evidence.

which is here - https://i.imgur.com/AFgCmT3.png

Oh my, look who we've got next in the league. If we win then that's them almost certainly out of top place in the league on points as well as goal difference. Imagine the meltdown if it ends 1-0 from a 97th minute penalty due to a questionable handball decision.

Ah. The famous tactical nous which has seen Klopp lose his last 6 cup finals.

Hugging Rafa after Christmas dinner?
Or this

Not strictly RAWK, but a kopite wrote this on Reddit/soccer post-match thread after Newcastle beat City 10 days ago:

***
I'm not gay, but I want to live in a log cabin in the woods with Rafa Benitez. We won't ever have sex, but there will be a simmering erotic undercurrent as I stand in the kitchen window watching him cranking out a paella valenciana, shirtless, sweat pouring off his body. I'll run upstairs and masturbate, the entire time forcing myself to think of women while my thoughts drift back to Rafa. I won't be able to climax and I'll eventually go back downstairs, angry. Sometimes we will look across the table and catch each other's eyes, and in that second, anything is possible, but we both deny ourselves and go back to what we were doing. One day one of us will die, and the other will bury him outside the log cabin. Then he'll go inside, pen a brief missive to his departed friend, and commit suicide, never able to deal with life without his one true platonic love.

It is hillarious how unaware of themselves they are. Laughing at us for thinking we are going to win the league next year when no Utd fan thinks that. Everybody in football knows its liverpool fans who believe every year is their year.

Klopp is one of the most stubborn managers I’ve seen in terms of playing one way no matter what. Where this tactical genius shite comes from I’ll never know.
He hasn't played one way. His tactics have changed to counter the opposition. Most games we play 4321 to fit in Shaqiri, which then reverts to defensive 4-5-1 when we lose the ball.

I remember one game where Phil Couthino played deep midfield and pinged balls up to Sturridge up top in the 2016/2017 season.

I would not call it tactical genius, though. His stubbornness means that he believes in his tactics. if he kept changing it, the players might lose confidence in his ability. It has worked for him.

They were calling Unai a tactical genius earlier in the season! Not so sure, now, eh? :D
