It's funny how the CAF has some journalists it unquestionably believes, some it completely distrusts.

All of these people will be reporting what they are told, and believe me they won't be told anything unless it suits someone's agenda. That doesn't mean everything you read is fake it just means you gotta approach it sceptically.

Ornstein gets a lot of Arsenal news right cos he's well in with people in that club. I am sure he is faithfully reporting what they've told him is true. However, all of us should ask ourselves if there might be reasons to think those sources might be spinning the truth to suit themselves.

I no more believe Ramsay is getting £400k a week, than I believe Alexis is better paid than Messi and Ronaldo.

Reported wages are almost never accurate.

However I'm going to choose to believe this just for the sheer hell of it.

Wow that's crazy.

Surely he can't possibly be earning £400k per week?! Jesus Christ. How can someone like Ramsey be justified being paid this kind of salary? This is literally Messi/Ronaldo level wages.

They’ve been absolutely had. Thoroughly average midfielder to join a thoroughly average midfield.

Is this like pre-taxed wage numbers or something? He isn't even worth close to that.. and wouldn't it completely obliterate the current wage structure at Juve?

I just refuse to believe those numbers.. I just can't.

Messi/Ronaldo wages are double that.

That’s some serious money, if the likes of Ramsey can get that we might see a trend of a few more players running down contracts.
I''ve been surprised by the lack of players doing it up until now. Why let a club get your transfer money when you can pocket it yourself?

Because if you get injured or turn shite (like Rooney) you'd end up with less money? Nobody knows the future, it's a risky game.

Didn’t Wenger actually say this a few years ago?

Not familiar with Italian tax and labor law, but its well known that sign on fee/wages ar treated differently even within the EU. There might be a signficant preliminary income tax for any substantial sign on fee paid up front for example. That is the case in Sweden for example, which is why its better to pay it over term. There might be other reasons as well, clubs probably learned from Barcelonas fiasco with Neymar when they paid him a significant sign-on/renewal feel up front just to see him leaving next year laughing at them.
400k per week over 4 or 5 years "all-inclusive" is not out of the question at all. That Juventus would pay a sign-on fee on top of that: I seriously question.

Same as the Sanchez deal, innit? Signing on fee spread across the term of the contract.

Glad to see British players move to other parts of the continent. Hopefully, this is encouragement for others to try and do the same in their prime. Whether 400k/week is the real wages, Juventus can probably afford it. Good luck to him. Hopefully, he improves and becomes a better player.

Even if he is on a free, that's the same as ~45m transfer fee and 200k/week for 4 years.. Still absolutely crazy.. And that is not factoring in the signin on fee + agent fees and all that nonsense..

I call bs.
Anyone who plays 259 times for arsenal and scores an incredible 61 times surely justifies the salary.

I know the BBC aren't god but the fact they have put the details out mean I'm more inclined to believe it than not. But I still can't get my head around a club paying that for him as he's nothing special at all. No different from Jesse imo if you're talkin about 100k to 400k

Everyone acting like this is impossible.

He's a very good player who was wasted at Arsenal, Juve haven't paid a transfer fee either.

If Ramsey was signed for 40mil fee with wages of 200k I don't think many would have raised eyebrows.

Edit: biggest mistake he ever made was not signing for us.

Messi/Ronaldo wages are double that.
More like triple/quintuple. Ronaldo is supposed to be around 60M PA gross. Messi with all the bonuses spread out alongside the length of contract just about cracks 100M PA.

Have they been watching that season where he scored in about 15 games in a row?

400k a week must be BS. This is the club that basically built their comeback empire on savvy free transfers and the lure of winning the Scudetto every season.

I feel that once again there is a mix up between gross and net figures.

Italians papers talk about 200k so 400k gross here.
In Italy they always talk with nets figures.

People still acting like he isn’t a good player
Aye, it's kinda weird. Probably gets into any first XI in the league besides the two Manchester clubs (as Pogba is a level above & City have talent to spare). I'd have taken him at Liverpool without question, but fair fecks to him for going to Juve.

Ramsey's good but you never hear of him as one of the stars of the PL. Probably due to Arsenal being irrelevant in recent times. It's mad considering these kinds of wages usually go to ultra hyped players.

His agents phone is probably blowing up right now. If he can get that type of deal for his client then fair feck to both of them.
