Just listening to Ben Rhodes who was a senior national security advisor to Obama about the Munich conference - its easy to forget given the daily idiocy how much actual damage this orange idiot has done.
He references Pence's speech which has famously gone down in flames, but points out it was written and directed at only 2 people in the room - Ivanka and Jared - and that the entirety of the rest of the room had no idea why these two entirely unqualified, unelected morons were there in the first place.
Then traces why policy on Saudi is so at odds with US and general western approach to the middle east, how Merkel et al are happy to just speak out against the US president - which is nuts - and how the world is just praying that this ends in 18 months .
Basically Trump has got what he wanted - the US is now playing by itself on a different board while the real world leaders try to deal with a massive US shaped hole where allies used to be.

Some people are definitely getting what they want but I don't know if Trump is one of them. Not sure he wants anything other than riches, adulation and power?
He doesn't give a shit and as you say just wants the adulation and power and to enrich himself, family and rich mates, many of which he probably owes big favours to or has arranged pay offs after he leaves the White House.
The trouble is his blatant disregard for anyone or anything but himself has and will have a devastating detrimental effect on so many lives all around the world, not to mention the planet too. His weapons dealing, climate policy, deregulation of laws put in place to protect the people, environment and even the rest of the world (Iran deal, Paris accord, NATO, etc)
But he's too arrogant to care or simply doesn't give a shit. It's all distraction from him. Please the base, cause divides, blame others while he does what he wants. The pay off is he also gets a god like following from his supporters.
It's unreal he can do it, and so frightening too. If he gets away with it all then any hope I had left for this world will be gone. Over dramatic? Nah, just realistic.
I said it before but whatever happens regarding Trump, the people using him as a useful idiot may* (or will) still be there, and this may* (or will) happen again work another candidate.
*Depends on the investigations and the consequences of those investigations and any attempted cleanup.
