He has clause 110 mil euros. One of the best no9 in the world, 26 years old. I don't see any rumours about us and him. And i find it strange. We should be all over him now when he is available for transfer. Especially with the fact that we can throw Lukaku in that deal.

Update 2022;
I am a plonker

He's a head case and his wife/agent even worse. He's a good player but I'm not overly interested, especially at 110m.

No. We should stay as far as possible from him.

We need dynamic, pacy players to play our pressing and quick counter style of football, not another static, box-focused number 9.

Without all the baggage also he isn't worth the money and also we will end up moving backwards signing limited players.

Doesn't fit into our style. I'd say he's a Jose type forward and he comes with baggage.
I want an athletic speed demon with plenty of agility and awareness. No idea who fits that model but definitely not Icardi.

Our attack needs a right winger, not a striker.

And while Icardi is an excellent player he comes with a ton of baggage.

  • He's not worth that much, he's been underwhelming this season.
  • Signing him would probably cause another period of stagnation in Rashford's development
  • Judging by reports, he's a very venomous person to have in the dressing room
  • His wife and him would bring shiitload of drama with them, something we do not need.

He doesn't fit our style of play. That's the single biggest issue .

He is a very good striker, but he's the type of box immobile one.

We need to play with a fluent forward line. Icardi doesn't offer much without the goals.

He's a poacher. Think, going forward, maybe an interchanging/pacey forward would suit Ole's system better, let alone playing up top with Martial and Rashford, or one of them would have to be shunted out to the right again.

Plus, for the money, maybe the Caf muppet dream Sancho, should rather be pursued.

He is an argentinian Lukaku, good goalscorer but not the type of player that you want at the very top of the food chain. In my opinion.

Icardi is a complete forward. He is far from immobile penalty box striker.
It is funny how United fans always want and claim that we need pacey striker but except Rooney we never had him. We always played with classic striker with huge skill and nose for goal. We had Hughes, Cole, Rvn, Rvp, Teddy, Zlatan, Berba.....

Icardi is none of those players. He is Hernandez type player and I have seen hernandez try and dribble past players once or twice in his ManUtd career.

Icardi isn't complete player. Far from it.

Lukaku is far better dribbler compared to Icardi (it's average vs shit) but Icardi's touch is reliable. Also Lukaku is versatile enough to play as winger, Icardi lack that.

Give Ole time to work with Lukaku. He will know how to get the best out of him. Lukaku is on par with Icardi in terms of talent. Ole has spoken about getting him leaner and using him as a player who will run of the defenders shoulders. We made an investment in him and now with the right manager lets try get the best out of him. Lukaku is working with possibly the clubs best ever finisher, there is alot of learning to do.

Our transfer window has to focus of getting some creativity from that right flank and even from more central positions (like we had from Carrick/Scholes) i.e. a young replacement for Matic.

Why would we want him? Rashford's been performing up top, he doesn't suit our style, and the position in need of the real investment is the RW.

Would people take him in a straight swap for Lukaku? So wouldn't drain on any funds for other areas...

Maybe you should watch more Inter's game. Icardi is the exact opposite of complete forward.

Its because the pace of the game has changed in the past few years.

Especially with the emergance of pep and klopp. You cant compare different eras.
Half the strikers you named were hear over 10 years ago man.Thats a long time.

And btw Cole definitely had pace.

No. Would rather sell Lukaku for less money though

If Ole becomes the permanent manager he will need a fluid front three so this out and out striker mold may not be efficient in his setup. But a striker holding up space and ball and getting the wingers and attacking mid in the play is a good plan b (not hoof ball). We dont need to spend 110 million to find that striker, someone like Rondon can do that

Piracy on the High Seas.
Used to be a big fan but Icardi hasn't developed his game over the last couple of seasons to reach maybe Higuaín level as a center-forward, and is essentially the same player he used to be when he first won the Capocannoniere — exceptional nose for goal, super-intense when he wants to be and phenomenal final movement, but not exceptional enough in an all-round sense to be an asset at an elite club. He'll score at United, but sooner or later we'll have to upgrade because his style will be hindrance to the other forwards. If you want to implement a system where you need an Inzaghi-esque fox-in-the-box there are few better in the contemporary game, but he's not suited to an expansive game on a consistent basis (despite exploding on occasion and playing like a man possessed; most notably against Juventus of all clubs). For the amount of money Internazionale will ask for him, we could easily sign Jović: who's younger, more complete and dynamic — and have a ton of cash left in the bank for other acquisitions. His production this year (21 goals in all competitions in about 25 starts) is not too far removed from Icardi's peak season (29 goals in all competitions). Plus, he has built a great on-field relationship with Haller, Rebić, Kostić — which indicates what he could do with Martial, Rashford and co. at United.
P.S. That's without getting into the whole Wanda Nara situation, and some of Icardi's own issues — which will be a long-running headache for any prospective buyers.

No thanks.

Personality goes against the sort of side we are building.

Only way id want him if ole convinces him to be a sub player that comes off the bench to score goals like ole used to do himself.

Otherwise - he is a player that requires the whole team to supply him; which is different to the players and team we wabt to build where each player like Martial, Rashford, Lingard, Pogba, etc all have an attacking role but not purely to supply one striker that spearheads our attack. That is more the Jose way of playing. Spread the attacking duties across the team than wonder if the likes of Lukaku or Icardi can score whilst the rest just sit and wait after supplying them.

Terrible attitude and not the type of player to fit our system.

Higuain.2 in the making and not worth the fuss.

Would've fit Jose like a glove instead of Lukaku. The ship has sailed now. We don't play with lone striker at top anymore.

He is a poacher with very little else to his game, I'd rather go for a much more complete striker if we buy one.

I wish people would consider how a player may fit in before going full transfer muppet

We simply wouldn’t play to his strengths nor he to ours

Exactly. It’s this sort of poor management that’s lead to our squad being full of square pegs in round holes.

Give them sanchez and lukaku.

Inter want to sell.

We'd probably need to throw in some cash as well though

Icardi will remain in Italy becouse of their family interests and their children. No real chance to see him in England (unfortunately for us becouse we don't want to see him anymore in Italy)
