Jack back and we look like a half decent team again.

Still somehow got a small chance of the play offs.

Interesting for me is we gave him captain's armband so looks like we're already trying to make him feel as valued as possible ahead of the inevitable summer bids.

He needs to play in the PL for the sake of his career.

Wouldn't disagree with that. Seems he's desperate to do it with us which I love but yeah still unlikely we'll make top 6 so if that happens the earliest he'd make prem with us would be when he's 25 years old.

His international career is also on hold the longer he stays away from the prem.

Would be great to have Villa back tbh, I do fear he leaves you if you don’t get promoted. You’re the right club for him.

Is he really 23 already?

I know he’s a Villa fan but if they don’t go up this season he’s got to move. If he has genuine ambitions of playing for England he should not be a Championship player at that age.

He’s a very good footballer. Spurs baulking at his price tag to install a climbing wall will look very silly this time next year.

I think he's good enough to start for us as is. Should definitely be in the England squad.

Superb player. Too good for the Championship. Would have him as rotation to Pogba.
He can be deep lying but still better as number 10 so would be more replacement for Mata if he's leaving and alternative/replacement for Lingard.

I remember seeing him play as a kid and he was head and shoulders above everyone else. Seemed to have lost his way a bit but good to see him getting back to reaching his potential.

Doesnt he play in the left sided centre midfield role in a three?
Yes when he broke through in 14/15 and then the following dismal season.

Since we've been down here he's pretty much always played as a number 10 although under Dean Smith he's been given more licence to operate deeper and pick up the ball rather than wait for it to get to him.

I would say though if there was a United player to compare to it would be Mata for me in terms of how they play rather than a Pogba type.

He's a good player but still a big fish in a small pond, he's better than the Championship but he's not as good as the praise currently being lauded on him.

I have barely seen him, but I seriously doubt that 24 year old "talent" that is still playing in Championship is good enough to be a starter for us. He hardly showed anything in the Premier league, we had players who have shown more in just few games and turned out to be shit.

There is probably a big reason why no one has bought him yet.

We should sign him.

McGinn is excellent too. I could see him at Spurs actually as Dembeles replacement.

Good talent, would be great if Villa gets promoted. Deserves to play in the Premier League.

He’s better than Maddison.
Agreed. I personally would take him as a United fan - very very talented player who is about to hit his peak as a footballer. He’s had his growing pains but he’s ready to play at a higher level.

Based on what? Maddison has been one of the best in his position in the premier league.

Grealish has... ?

Maddison was better last year for Norwich than Grealish is this year for Villa, let alone this season doing it in the premier league

Spurs went in for him last summer but Levy was trying to mug them off with silly low bids because they were in financial trouble, then Villa's fortunes changed as they were bought out and they didn't need to sell and told him to do one.

I think he's a great talent and will play for England one day, probably as soon as he gets in the Premier League but I would be a bit cautious as he's never been able to maintain his good form. He kicked on last season after many troubles as a younger player with partying etc. He wasn't great at the start of this season after his big move went up in smoke and then had a lengthy injury. He seems to be back to near his best since returning from injury.

Been very impressed how he got his head down after the failed moved to Spurs in the summer, he's practically carried Villa on his back and the way he shruged off the incident in the Birmingham match tells me he's mentally tough, hope we go for him again, reckon Poch could do a a lot of things with him.

Grealish is a very good player. Not sure why people can't see that, he is too good for the Championship, which is the reason he gets targeted nearly every game with strong challenges.
Anyone see the second city Derby? He ran the show and that's after getting thumped round the head by a lout.
His mentality is excellent, his temperament has improved, his range of passing is brilliant, his close control is superb.
You cannot compare him with Maddison, Grealish likes to drop deep to pick up the ball, then make the late runs in the box, similar to Lampard for example. Maddison on the other hand is very much in the attacking mold, at Norwich he was very much attacking focused, hence the goalscoring stats.

He's got 1940s hair and a 1940s name. He even grinned like a cheeky Tommy would have after getting sucker punched by a Jerry. Sign him up.

Maddison is currently playing in central midfield in the same position Pogba plays. He's started 7 league games there and 15 as AM

Grealish has started 9 league games in central midfield and 15 as AM.

Here is Maddison's average position in his last game. Vs Huddersfield :

Here is Grealish's average position in his last game. Vs Rotherham :

Both are the number 10s in the images playing in away matches, in almost the exact same position slightly forward and left of the center circle and the 2nd furthest player forward in their teams system.

So yes you can and should compare them.
