Yep as I said not all, but lets be honest...Is Lingard even that special either? He's fairly average and hasn't really stepped up. He's a work horse and will put shift in similar enough to Park.
Pereira is more talented than Lingard imo, but in the bigger picture it could mean nothing. He has to take his opportunities when they arrive and his position or the one he played up till now is more scrutinizing for young players then the one Lingard plays for example. We saw how his mistake against Burnley cost us.

We need a big performance from Pereira tomorrow to even stand the slightest of chances.

Exactly we really do need a strong finish from him now this season what with all our injuries. He done well vs Liverpool and again vs Southampton. A run of good performances will stand to him and have him in contention possibly for next August in our midfield / attack.

He should do well tomorrow he has some experience in big games as he's played against Barca and Madrid several times.

We just need to get him on the ball further up the pitch and getting him shooting more. Buffon will struggle with his long range shots as he's getting on in age.

Yes, I think it'll be typical Redcafe and when he scores some great goals people will get too excited and think he'll improve for sure and be as good as Lampard, like with Gibson and Nick Powell. Even Scholes said Ander could be our next goalscoring midfielder after his first season at United. Thats one side of things.

Then theres the other side of things where players get underrated when they make some mistakes, like I think he's being underrated if you think hes the same level as Cleverley. I think his good performances will be better and his off days might be worse.

And to be clear, when I was younger I did the same thing. I probably made a post or two suggesting Gibson or Powell will certainly improve and get more and more goals for us each season. But for a couple of years now I've understood that that theres no divine right for young players to improve each season like they might do in computer games. So many examples of young players who burst on the scene and thats actually their high point and they struggle to repeat it. Or an injury. Or something else happens and they lose themselves along the way.

Anyway the point is, Ronaldo would describe Andreas' trajectory as "polemic". When he does what he is capable of doing he'll look like a great player and people will get carried away with that. And when he has a run of games where he isnt smashing in a great freekick or longshot he'll probably be described as a championship player by some. So the general view on him is going to be up and down with people reacting too much to 1 or 2 performances where hes great or terrible.

I think if he carries on after this recent performance and does well in the next couple of weeks he might stay. But if he doesnt follow up his great goal and the assist, I maintain he'll be a good player for another club. I expect he'll have extra credit with Solskjaer because Ole knows what he can do from the reserves. Obviously its not going to translate 1:1 with the premier league, but if you're scoring screamers from 25 yards right in the top corner in the reserves then you're capable of it in the first team too. Its just about Pereira getting himself into the kind of position he did at the weekend and backing himself like he did. He hasnt really done that in his other matches this season, partly because Mourinho was playing him as a DM and nullifying the most outstanding thing he can do. Strike the ball at the goal.
Fair enough. I was pretty excited by him too in the early days. Even in la Liga he threw in some very good performances including against the likes of Real and Barca.

But at this stage to me he still has so many obvious weaknesses and this is not the place to be trying out lads on the off chance they may improve imo. He's not kid anymore. The odd screamer surrounded by crap isn't enough. Regular screamers surrounded by crap wouldn't be enough either.

Part of our problems has been having too many players who are nearly good enough. So I would get rid.

But I'd be delighted he he proves me wrong. He's likely to get more chances in the coming weeks. Hopefully we dont look back on a lot of dropped points. He got a great goal at the weekend but Southampton walked through us a fair bit too.

Be interested to see how Ole deploys him tommorow. If he's an 8, we are going to get absolutely demolished in the middle of the park.
What do you expect when we have 3 fit midfielders and the last time they played together Vs Reading they were very poor.

We don't have the soldiers for this one.

I'm saying the best shot we have is if we let him play in the role he had the second half, as a 10 with wingbacks covering the outside of the pitch. By no means am I going to be mad if we lose, was just making an observation that a our standard 433 with him, Fred, and McT will get ripped apart considering none of them are good with defensive positioning.

Really needs to sort his on the ball game out, I didn't see the game at the weekend but from what I could tell from the match day thread was he wasn't great before his goal then either

Worked hard but lost possession cheaply too often. Andreas 73% pass completion compared to 82% for Fred and 96% for McTominay. One cross that was slightly too high in the 2nd half. Only 1 tackle, no interceptions.

I don't remember him losing the ball cheaply, he seemed safe with it and had a good dribble under pressure too. I missed the beginning, was that when he was bad?

He's not very good but gave his all. Not sure what more we could expect.

His game is all about the attacking third, like a completely different player when he receives the ball in attacking positions.

Not the best game actually. He put in efforts, that's for sure, but a long mountain still to climb. Got disposessed often.

Still, not a harsh critique as today everyone is a hero

He struggled a bit. Some loose touches that were a bit disappointing. He was probably only going to get himself in position for 1 shot in a game like that, and he didnt manage that.

His heart and workrate are there, but in the role he's in he needs to do more on the ball if he's to remain here long term IMO.

He tried hard and did his job. We lost the midfield battle even with our main trio there, we didn't have a chance with our backups, PSG players are so comfortable at keeping the ball.

I think that we need another midfielder, but I think that all three of him, Scott and Fred should be kept for next season.

I'm a big fan of Pereira, but he did look a little bit out of it tonight, did do some very good things, but also lost the ball, and misplaced a few passes, but he puts a shift in, works hard and is passionate about the club. Would like to see him further forward, as a 10, or the point in a diamond shape rather than a midfielder, where his shooting ability could be useful.

Needs to improve his ball retention skill. It's pretty bad at the moment for a technical player, but he showed loads of guts and he can have his uses. Not entirely useless as we thought 2 months ago.

He ran himself into the ground last night, I thought he did well. He needs to improve his ball retention but that's something that can be improved by Ole.

Constantly at the STD clinic.
Still not sure if he has enough non attacking wise and his pure attacking skills dont seem up to par for United in comparision to say a Pogba. Time will tell I suppose.

Don't think he will be around next season. United will go for another CM player in the summer and with Fred coming good that makes Andreas 7th on the list.

Add to that the need for development of Garner it doesn't seem he will get a lot of game time which he clearly needs in this stage of his career.

I thought this was another game where he just ran himself into the ground for the team. I thought he did decent and given the opposition and situation, it was good.

Do think hes a player who needs a run but I thought he did well to initiate the first press which lead to the first goal, and a nice smart pass to Rashford for the second.

His all round game has been a little disappointing, and his best attributes are crossing and shooting but I'm not convinced if that is enough to succeed here.

Does his contract expire next summer? If so, we should take a risk and keep him for another year to see how he develops.

I actually thought he was good, quite sloppy a couple of times, but he put a shift in and played some nice pass and move stuff. The whole midfield was quite impressive. I think like a lot of players have done recently in the squad, he'll regain confidence and form, he's much better on the ball than he has been showing.

He's been at the club 8 years and he's finally breaking into the first team. I'm going to cut him some slack it hasn't been easy for him. Hell improve but needs our support and mostly from the manager.

Losing to Comeback Winning!
Wonder what he felt not being used at all, even though there is still one sub left to be used, but the manager opt not to use it and ignore him.

A not totally match fit lacking sharpness winger and a question mark striker kid are used ahead of him.

Granted his previous performances is inconsistent...

It's because he isn't very good.

I think he's been improving, and will get better with game time and more confidence. He had a good game against PSG, just think he's not 100% confident with us yet and it shows. He's had 2 full seasons in La Liga so far and imo he's shown there that he's got another level to go up from what we've seen. He's not Verrati by any stretch but still only just turned 23, and like Mctominay will improve.

I suspect it might be just to get a fee for him. I doubt he'll be happy to sit around struggling to even make the bench, so he'll ask to be sold.
Same. We will certainly sign another CM this summer and he's already 6th choice. He will be best served moving on for regular football.

We have triggered the extension to stop him leaving for free if anything.
Or becase what the club/player was feeling from Mou was that it wasn't going to work out, but from Ole they are getting different info. They could have activated this ages ago yet do it now after he's had some game time.
