(new thread as the other Real thread seems to be focused on current season performances).

Barcelona finally beating Real on overall head to head, another poor domestic league season, major squad surgery required and a new manager. How would you go about the rebuild?

I haven't been keeping that close an eye on La Liga, so I'm curious to hear what others think. Real seem to go through a major rebuild only once or twice in a decade.

Here's mine:

Transfer in:
Hazard
Eriksen
Icardi/Werner
Rabiot

Transfer out:
Bale

Manager: Allegri

Eriksen and Hazard will be running down contracts and should be negotiable. Icardi is souring ties with Inter, but might bring his drama into the Real dressing room so it's more him vs Timo Werner. Rabiot is great value on a free.

If they have money to spend then a leader of a centre back is required.

I'd go for Klopp/Poch over Allegri, but I agree with your transfer business.

It'll be hard shipping out Bale. He's on £650k p/w before tax apparently, so bugger knows who'll pay anywhere near that.

Would be surprised if Klopp can be prized away from what is progressive stuff at Liverpool. Poch might be attainable but I've assumed neither are in my OP.

Bale must have some silly takers somewhere. Hope not us :wenger:

I’d have started two years earlier for one...

Militão/Hermoso, Eriksen, Salah/Hazard, Jovic. Something along those lines... I very much doubt the Premier League clubs in particular will be willing to sell at a reasonable price though.

I’d bring in Mourinho because it would be incredibly entertaining to watch the drama. Pochettino would be the obvious choice but he obviously wasn’t interested enough last season so I don’t know if he’ll go this season.

They only need a backup Striker for Benzema and a goalscoring wide-forward mostly.

Allegri wouldn’t last long. His football is tumescent.

They need a special manager. Is there anyone available with a history of winning, who knows La Liga and who has a point to prove?
Still a bit early to ask Ancelotti to leave Napoli isn't it?

I'd give the job to Wenger, just so he can transition the young core (Vinicius, Rodrygo, Asensio, Ceballos, Brahim, Llorente, etc...) into the top level, even if it means just a season or two, to get those players ready for a sergeant type manager, or for Pochettino.

Something similar to what Pellegrini did for them, bring them from mediocrity to almost elite, make them confident, and then bring in the manager that gives them the last push to compete at the top level.

They still have players that could play for them next season loaned around. Kovacic, James, Theo, Hachimi... that's enough depth for the club, if they get rid of Bale, Benzema, Kroos and Modric they can get 4 players for those positions that don't need to. Maybe with Sancho, Hazard and Havertz in for those 4 they could do, German players seem to always work out for Real.

Some players ageing in the squad, Modric 33, Benzema 31, Ramos 32

Rabiot, Kane, De Ligt in as these three either move on or take a reduced role.

Isco out, im not sure what has happened behind the scenes but something is not right with him, bring in Eriksen. Bale is close to 30 and far too injury prone, at his best he is one of the most exciting players on the planet but that is far too infrequent given injuries. Move him on for Hazard.

As for the manager, Klopp.

Whether they can get any of these players or move on players like Bale is another thing entirely.

There needs to be balance to any transition. You don’t go from one generation to the next like that... they obviously can’t get rid of four players like Benzema, Bale, Modric and Kroos in one summer. Benzema and Modric have been two of their best players this season. The last thing they need is to be losing quality.

This is Real Madrid, they need to be good enough to compete for everything every single season. Not play a bunch of kids in hope they develop into a great team 5 years from now.

One more year like this and Florentino will be getting kicked out of the Bernabeu.

If Madrid come calling, Klopp walks. It's simply a much bigger club and a once in a lifetime chance.

Allegri was the favorite a few weeks ago. However he does not provoke too many reactions in the fan. In addition he may be eliminated by Simeone.
The image of the elimination against Atleti, -our gift in these last CL- is not the best cover letter.
Pochettino is well regarded among people who follow English football, but Tottenham are not a top team and his profile may remind a bit of Solari.
Little curriculum for such a crisis.
Mourinho evokes someone capable of carrying on his shoulders kilos and kilos of shit and being frank, frankness with the president that served others very little, but works with him.
The polls are not as favorable as the chants or their talibans on twitter can express, but the madridistas want blood, cleaning, signings andmaybe more balls to avoid messes like the last years in the clásicos
The couple Mourinho-Xabi Alonso sells very well and I think today is the favorite

They need a 2009 type spending spree. Amazing why they didn’t go for Mbappe. They need a new LB and CB as well as more goalscorers in their team.

They should sell one of Courtois and Navas to raise funds. Would cash in on Isco and Bale too.

They kind of did that when they got rid of Cannavaro, Sneijder and Robben in 2010.

They could lose those 4 players, some of them haven't performed this year, other would be in the best moment to get rid off before age catches up to them, they'd still keep Courtois, Marcelo, Varane, Ramos, Carvajal, Casemiro... that's a lof of experience for a transition.

Florentino has secured the spot until he wants to step out by raising the requeriments to be a candidate for presidency.

I just hope we won't buy Bale.. Unfortunately Ed is more than capable for that kind of decision.

They have had 30 managers since July 89.

It's comes around on average every 12 months. :D

Of course Klopp stock could fall but the job will come up regularly.

Do they have actually have funds for a big rebuild? Why haven't they signed a 'galactico' for a few years?

Crazy that it would probably cost them the best part of a billion Euros for those five players.

Because they kept winning champions leagues.

But as they kept improving they kept downgrading the squad. In Zidanes last season they sold James, Pepe and Morata who all made a decent contribution to the league winning season. None of them were replaced. Same with Ronaldo.

Splash the cash on 3 big names.

Hazard
Salah
Icardi

and they'll be back on the top.

They did, he decided to join PSG. Or Real declined his wage demands, either way the transfer failed.

Erm what about their defence that conceded four goals to Ajax? Ramos is 33 and Marcelo looks to be past it.

Hopefully Jose will go back to them and they won't be after Pogba :)

I wonder would Spurs fans take a swap deal of Eriksen for Bale? Probably couldn't afford his wages but I'd still fancy him to score loads in this league (remaining injury free of course) and him and Kane would be pretty scary.

Could take 5 years to get back on track, this ageing squad was going to crash quickly. You lose Ronaldo and Zidane in the same window, they could sense trouble I think.

Hire Brendan Rodgers. Give him 80m and the freedom to lecture his philosophy to the players any time He wants.

Or

Hire Klopp. Buy Salah, VVD, Mane, Firminho, Alisson.

Surely they need to go all our for Alexis Sanchez. That would really get one back at Barcelona too...shhhh just go with it.
