I have no idea why the staff seem to rate him higher than Puigmal. His physicality can be a great asset at times but the number of times he runs down blind alleys or can't compose himself to make a simple pass is seriously frustrating.
To me, I think a position swap for both of them would benefit them. Traore has the technical feet to operate in smaller spaces that wingers and fullbacks operate under. He with his size can bully people when he's driving with the ball and due to the path a fullback usually take, should lessen the blind alleys he runs down.

I think he has more "X-factor" than Puigmal but he's really raw. We really need to find a good development coach at U23s level else players like Traore won't amount to anything.

......that said, it's not easy to say how young players are going to develop and we have seen this going both ways. There was no chance I ever envisaged Scott would be playing against PSG in the CL.
Very well put... Traore has probably grown up being one of the strongest players on the pitch physically, the way I see it is the only real test for him would be mens football, technically he's good, and if he makes the transition, the sooner he'll realise he can't hold on to the ball for too long, therefore the quicker he'll develop and adapt his game.

It's like he's a big fish in a paddling pool, just gotta put him in the ocean and let him find his way.

Our academy loves big physical players with limited technical ability, the place is full of them.

I'm not so sure he does. I'd rate Puigmal better in everything apart from strength & running power. I think if Puigmal was playing in midfield all season he'd have more goals & assists than Traore, as it is he only had 2 goals & 2 assists less despite playing nearly all season at right back.

Levitt, Garner, Ramazani, Buffonge, Greenwood, Elanga, Puigmal, McGhee, Galbraith, McCann, Mellor...none of these are anywhere near 'big physical players'.

I would only include Bernard and Traore in that bracket so can only assume you are joking?

Again you refuse to acknowledge the existence of our Academy below the U18s

Traore is very different from normal midfielders. He practically has no exceptional passing, or creativity. Probably our weakest midfielder in that area in comparison to Gomes, Puigmal, Levitt, Garner, and even past midfielders at that level. He's basically someone who can help transition the team through a dribble. However, he's not someone who will beat players for fun. He does it when there's open space in front of him similar to TFM, except that Traore also has quick technical feet to retain the ball when defenders nip at him.

Not really...but given when they reach U/18's they are smaller than most it doesn't really compute.

In our 16's right now we have loads of small players...15's too.

Down at 13/14 and below I have no idea.

But to say that our Academy focus is on bigger boys doesn't make sense in relation to the output we actually see. In addition, if a bigger U/10 (for example) comes along we are hardly likely to say no thanks if technically he is good enough.

You obviously have information or knowledge at a lower level than I do so I will ask around next time I am at Carrington.

I heard from a reputable source with links at United that this kid is on 20 grand a week! That's madness if true no matter how good he is IMO.

Bollocks imo.

I don’t know any kid with a contract like that. In which case Greenwood should be on 40g a week
