Eibar beat Celta Vigo 1-0. Eibar go 9th. Celta Vigo are 17th
Betis play Getafe later on this afternoon
If someone told me in 2013 that scenario (Eibar 9th in La Liga, Celta 17th and Charles still around playing for the winning team) I'd go mental with laughter. Eibar perform a miracle year after year.

Charles is great upfront for them, didn't realise he was 34 now.

What's happened to Aspas, still out injured?

Getafe looking like getting another great result, 2 up at Betis at half time.

Looking at their run in they have lots of winnable home games so they really will be thinking they can finish 4th. I actually remember them in the europa league years ago when Laudrup was their manager, think they nearly knocked out Bayern Munich.

Would be nice for them to get some sell outs in the run in, their stadium always looks so empty aside from when Madrid clubs visit.

Betis could still qualify for europa, 7th in live table and 1 point off Sevilla who have completely lost form. Real Sociedad got Atletico Madrid later and they need win to go above Betis.

Guess it has been frustrating last few weeks with them going out to Rennes (Betis Arsenal would've been brilliant match) and losing in copa to Valencia.

Was the expectation pre season they'd finish top 4 then? Impressive signing likes of Lo Celso and Carvalho but really their attacking options aren't as good as teams around them.

O.k only 10 matchdays in but anyone who'd watched Madrid's first 10 games couldn't say for certain they'd make the top 4 especially as Sevilla had started the season great.

Were down in 9th after that thrashing playing clueless football and barely scoring.

Real Madrid ever playing europa league now seems unthinkable (same for Barca), Ultras would probably set fire to the Bernabeu.

I think Solari has done well reeling off winning runs and diverting that disaster. Where do you think you'd be in the league now if Lopetegui was still in charge, I'd say 6th.
I agree with @FootballHQ . Simply what Solari did is just what you'll expect from a caretaker manager, steady the ship but be nothing special till the permanent boss comes. What Zidane and OGS did/is doing is the anomaly, which earned/will earn them the permanent job.
"Listen Lopetegui, you're going to play Vinicius, and now Pintus is the physical trainer" and we would have been better. Very opportunistic, I know
I understand that he needed to be pragmatic and conservative at the beginning, that he needed to cover the leaks but I think that in the long run he is behaving as a small team coach.
Lucas is the starter because of his physical condition and because he defends his side.
That shows three things: you have not been able to motivate Bale, you prefer to defend to attack and have obviated other alternatives like Mariano (although he was injured) or Brahim, who neither plays nor travels with the team. His contribution is #halamadrid on Instagram.
He has managed the Isco issue very badly. We didn't hace deft touch (what in Spanish we call "having a left hand").
And the same with Marcelo.
That is to say, it is very good that you are brave but to bench a captain and the best player at the beginning of the season has to be worth something. Motivate them, awaken them or discover a better option.
And if Barcelona humiliate you assume that you failed in your strategies.
we do not play anything, the game plan is very repetitive and the presence in the opposite field seems guided by the impetus rather than by a game plan.
He has also done good things.
I have to admit that I am very grumpy this season.
About the coach El3mel,
Zidane,Ole,Guardiola can be too, and to a certain extent Simeone.
He won't be until 2021 but he has to be judged with the same severity.
Maybe we bring a coach with more caché, with his caravan of assistants, petitions, signings and departures and it turns out that in December don't want to play for him.

Setien is such a fraud  He thinks he is coaching Barcelona, but not today's version of it . He thinks he inherited Pep's Barca ..at Betis:nono:

Doesn't matter how good you can play, you can't contend on 3 competitions with awful strikers

Sanabria is gone, Loren was playing in the Spanish 3rd tier while being 24 y/o 14 months ago and Sergio Leon is, at best, a 3rd choice striker for a relegation team in first division.

Morata now....scores.

In fairness good instinctive run and header from a corner.

La Real not been in it. Lost Willian Jose to injury and without Januazj so attacking threat really reduced.

No live game on ITV4 it seems, full replay of Valencia-Bilbao on about 11PM according to Sky EPG - I thought ITV were supposed to be showing one live game per week ?

Morata goal machine for the moment. Looks a different player to the Chelsea Morata. Look at the smile on his face.

Can Getafe pull out what we can call a true miracle? They are most in-form team in the league atm.

Their fixture list reads: Huesca, Valencia (a), Leganes, Espanyol(a), Bilbao, Valladolid(a), Sevilla, Real Madrid, Real Sociedad(a), Girona, Barcelona(a), Villarreal

It is definitely possible, and they are currently 5 points ahead of Sevilla (who are 6th). Alaves are 5th (just two points behind Getafe).

Nice run-in. It they didn't manage it it would nice for Alaves to do it :D.
I think a surprise is gonna happen in any case.

Celta Vigo have a new manager. Fran Escriba in back in La Liga, since September 2017. He replaces Miguel Cardoso who lasted only 4 months and 15 games. (P15 W3 D2 L10). Celta Vigo are currently 17th only two points from safety

That's been the level for a while. It's more out in the open now that we've swapped some small Spanish team for some Japanese team so it seems more embarrasing, but it isn't.

Barca won’t need to worry about la masia with Arthur, de Jong, Roberto, and Umtiti
the problem is not buying talent, the problem is in Boateng, Vidal, Coutinho or the next Paulinho.
La Masia is the soul of Barcelona, because it is based on plasticity, style, pride of the mes que un club.

Alena and Roberto have been solid, no other club is going to have a Xavi/iniesta/Busquets coming up

Have zero issues with barca’s Future

That was a terrible appointment by Celta (Cardoso). Generally to me they just look like a squad that lacks so much direction this season.

Not sure if Escriba will save them, he was hit and miss at Villareal and was also in charge when Getafe went down in 15/16.

Why are Barcelona playing their starters at home vs 19th placed Rayo Vallecano with their CL future to be played 4 days from now?

This is what turns people off Atletico Madrid...scraping a 1-0 at home to Leganes. Only 4 shots on target aswell so not like they've been denied by an incredible keeper from posting 4 or 5 nil.

They were resting plenty of players today to be fair to them.

Haven’t conceded a goal in 8 hours of football now..

Herrera I always thought he would do well even at United. I also wanted us to sign Lucho Gonzales during his first two seasons at Porto and Herrera reminds me at him a bit. pretty sure he'll do well at Madrid.

Rakitic and Dembele benched, the rest are playing. probably because it's only 4 points between Barca and Atletico now, so Valverde won't risk anything. god knows where's Boateng now. Valverde probably forgot about him already.

Bebe plays for Rayo Vallecano and has over 100 La Liga games? Not that bad, I thought he spends his career in the 2nd Portguese Division or something.
