His eccentricity is just over the top. A keeper in Barthez mold.

Sometimes brilliant but most of the times brain farts.
Barthez won a Champions League, World Cup and European Championship and played for some of the best teams in the world. Insulting to him to compare him to a muppet like Pickford.

Heaton was clearly England's best keeper before he got injured. All he's done is pick up where he left off. If he'd been at a traditionally bigger club, Pickford would never have got a sniff.
Heaton is a really good goalkeeper, one of the best in the league. Pickford isn't good enough to play for England.

I never rate him, not a single bit. The only reason he’s no 1 in England is because he has better ball distribution than Heaton. And still even if you want to rate his ball distribution isn’t that high as well.

Was Seaman really dependable though?
Definitely. Anyone here could give a description of him at age 20 or 30 and the police would find him in minutes. That stash and long hair was as dependable as they come.

Horror show yesterday, and you would have to question his mentality with his off the ball antics and how quickly and how often he shits the bed during a season when things start to go south.

I think thats fulfilled my cliche quota for today.

Everton fans view on him

always been a fan but he was poor today. And his attitude towards their fans only served to get the crowd going more. He needs to focus. Not convinced by him in the slightest anymore. He's lucky to be England's no. 1.
Drop him until end of the season. Give the Portuguese lad a go. Go after Heaton or Pope or a bigger name from abroad in the summer. Wolves got European Champion Patricio for less then 20m, whereas we got this chump for 30m
Leads the league in errors leading to goals...fantastic.
He is not a good enough goalkeeper. His fundamental basics are not good enough. He needs replaced. But that was evident well before today. Today only magnified it more clearly.

My bad, I'm comparing him to post trophies Barthez. The eccentric one.

If Southgates reasons for not selecting Smalling are to hold any ground Pickford shouldn't be near the squad.. He is an absolute calamity.

 Good one!

Seaman was a really great and dependable keeper. Don’t think he reproduced his league form at international level quite as much.

Heaton certainly deserves a shot at the number 1 spot if you ask me, his form of late has been sensational.

The red card escape was miraculous, tbf. How did he manage that?
I'd guess that the ref thought it was more accidental than to deny the opposition the chance, he fumbled the ball and "tackled" him as a result of falling afterwards

I still felt Pope deserved to be first team over Pickford in the World Cup. Pickford is dodgy as heck.

However, Heaton is the best English goalkeeper by far at the moment.

He must have thought that really.

Or was just gobsmacked by events - dropping the cross was a fairly hilarious unexpected clanger just on its own.

Why the hell can't England produce good goalkeepers ? It's been close to 30 years since England last produced a really good, dependable goalkeeper in David Seaman.

After that :
Dave Beasant 2 matches
Nigel Martyn 23 matches
Tim Flowers 11 matches
Ian Walker 4 matches
David James 53 matches
Richard Wright 2 matches
Paul Robinson 41 matches
Rob Green 12 matches
Chris Kirkland 1 match
Ben Foster 8 matches
Scott Carson 4 matches
Joe Hart 74 matches
Jack Butland 9 matches
John Ruddy 1 match
Fraser Forster 6 matches
Tom Heaton 3 matches
Jordan Pickford 15 matches
Nick Pope 1 match
Alex McCarthy 1 match

That is a lot of really average goalkeepers!
Nigel Martyn was a quality keeper

Heaton was complete dogshit today so he's probably blown his chance of getting ahead of Pickford for the next internationals.

His form has picked up recently which is nice but I said it a few weeks ago when his form was shocking, he should be dropped for a while to sort that fecking head out. He has serious mental issues that need sorting out before he gets to a top level as his actual ability has the potential to do so. This incident (there’s a video up) is bloody stupid of him at a time when the attitude of the club has taken two steps in the right direction.

Angus Gunn is the guy long term for England, probably worth getting him in now.

He doesn't look very dangerous. Rumour that some nasty person called him 'Butterfingers'' or something.

Our loanee Dean Henderson has all the ingredients to be England and Man United No. 1 for years to come, in case De Gea leaves.

How precious are some people? ‘Butterfingers’ being proffered as an insult cannot lead to a kerfuffle, surely?!
By the looks of it he was getting relentlessly harassed and eventually snapped.

If that's how it actually played out then no action should be taken against him (from Everton), footballers have the right of a life outside of work aswell.

According to Daily Mail, he had no problems with him being called butterfingers etc but someone abused his GF and that's when he snapped.

However, the situation turned ugly when Pickford moved on to another bar. This time his fiancee was the target of the abuse and, according to sources close to him, Pickford lost control and began trading punches as video footage, recorded on a mobile phone, showed him being pulled away from the bust-up.
If that's the case then good on him.

Why do people feel they have the right to annoy and abuse famous people while they are minding their own business? A sad reflection on society .

The worst type are the one's that attack an actor/actress because of the character they play in a soap/drama/movie.

What on earth goes through people's minds at that moment? Actually on second thoughts i don't want to know.

Not sure I agree. Done very well at SUFC but doesn't seem United standard for me.
