Seriously, FA Cup, Champions League, top four finish with a squad that is patently too thin. I think Ole should be playing the B-team on Saturday against Wolves.

We are missing 10 players for weeks and got inside the top 4 and through to the last 8 in Cl.
How is that too thin? If anything we should have the confidence to rotate more as the games roll in.

Think you lot should play the U21’s on Saturday. Who even wants to win the Fa Cup?

We've been rotating in the FA cup and we've also had 10 players out at one point.

I think we're just fine.

I wouldn't mind a bit of rotation in the FA Cup, as we've had all season, but with so many injuries there is no such thing as a B team at the minute.

what's the point of having a squad if you don't use it?

we need to win as many trophies as possible, and every game in my opinion

Champions League
Despite Solskjaer’s hunger for silverware, the realities of modern football mean the importance of qualifying for the Champions League cannot be underestimated.

“That’s not the dream though, to be top four,” he said. “We’re Man United, you should always aim to win the league. We can’t do that this year but we’ve just got to look forward to that again because we have to get back to that.

“We’ve got the Champions League, we’ve got the FA Cup, we can’t just say ‘top four and that’s it’. We’ve got to look at ‘can we win something this year?’ and I go into every single game as a Man United manager thinking we can win this game.”
Luckily ManUtd manager don't think so.

At least we are chasing the right competitions... could have been much much worse.

We’ve had an absurd amount of injuries occurring at the same time, mostly to our center midfielders and attackers. That’s extremely unlucky. Yet we’ve still been able to field £75m Lukaku, who’s been immense during this period and a £50m CM, occasionally - even though he’s not been preferred over academy graduates at certain times. I’d say our squad depth is fine, albeit stretched to the brink with - well, just hard luck having Mata, Lingard, Herrera, Matic, Rashford, Martial & Sanchez all injured.

Luckily they’re returning one by one and if we can keep them all fit, they’d be nice and fresh for the business end of the season anyway.

Also a case could be made that some of their stand ins have actually performed quite well and deserve a spot over the injured.

The FA cup is our most likely trophy this season we have a realistic chance of winning. After beating both Arsenal and Chelsea away, we should try our best to win it. As OGS says, we always want to win every competition we enter.

If we were going for the title you may have a point but given in the league we're against massively inconsistent teams like Spurs, Arsenal and Chelsea I dont see the panic there tbh and at this stage the FA Cup is only 3 extra games so that's not the end of the world either

Much better that we’re involved than not.
Squad is thin granted, but Ole has managed a minor miracle to keep us in this far

What about the line up for the games? Did he play Herrera, Matic, Pogba against Chelsea if he didn't care about winning cup?
Now he's nailed down the job, I wonder if he'll play things differently. The money and glory on offer for getting to the Champions Semi is better than winning the FA Cup imho. Ed will concur. As will World Class players thinking of coming here.

Interestingly the prize money for the FA Cup is 3.6 million pounds, and the prize for getting to the quarter finals of the CL is 6.5 million euros (but is that cumulative of all previous rounds?)

Nothing new really. Prize money for UCL exceeds anything the Europa throws up but clubs like Utd should be winning trophies; money is the least of our concerns

Depends who we draw surely. Plans are only made once we know who the opp are

Wayhey, a Wolves fan. Welcome.

Bit off topic but do you expect Wolves to push on next season for a higher points total? I'd imagine at the moment Wolves could go far in the EL. Some lovely stuff being played in the orange colour this season.

The concern is understandable but after the wolves match, we had 2 weeks off?
Hopefully we are back to full strength by then and not worry too much about having too many games left.

I think our remaining matches are hardest among teams competing for the top 4.

Hopefully, OGS can rotate smartly to pull it off and also have a good go at the FA cup and CL!

Why play a weakened team against Wolves, when their is a international break after. I would understand if it was a CL quarter final or a big Premier league game a few days later, but not now.

Also win this game against Wolves and their is only one FA cup game to squeeze in as the final will be at the end of the season.

No. this is a loser mentality. United should be attempting to win every competition they're part of- just like any big club.

Why bin the FA Cup off? We have a maximum of 3 games left in it. We've knocked out two very good sides away from home. Why purposely make that all for nothing? I definitely want us to beat them and not lose 2 games on the bounce.

Go for everything. The squad as thinner than City's, but I don't think we have any less depth than the other 4 of the top 6.

The Champions League shouldn't be written off either. It is probably the most wide open quarter finals in ages. There is no runaway favourite. The holders are out, Atleti are out, one of Bayern and Liverpool goes out tonight. Every team in it is flawed, any team left in it could beat any one else.

I am 68% certain that this guy is up to no good. He would have us play a group of inexperienced kids on Saturday in order to give his own team, Wolves, an easy ride.

See how clever I am?

The OP post raises understandable worries as the fixture list in April might get brutal if we reach the semis in the FA Cup. Playing the B team is not an option really but resting some players who will play during the international break is reasonable. If we beat Wolves, we are going to play every 3-4 days in April, mostly against top teams where energy and intensity will be decisive, and have to rotate and rest key players for the CL games and the big derbies. Otherwise, we might end up with nothing - no cup and no top 4.

I'd say that Ole should rest some of the players who are likely to start for their national teams. He will pobably do it anyway.

You wonder why fans of other clubs often treat those of big clubs with disdain and it is because of shit like this. A thin squad? What does a reasonable squad look like? Jesus fecking Christ. We've got a playing squad to die for.

Fans of appx. 85 clubs in pro football would not even understand how anyone could think it is possible to be involved in too many competitions.

We are truly spoiled as Utd followers.

We should go for everything. I think De gea should be able to play all games (maybe not the best idea with his form). Smalling and Lindelöf doesn't need rotation.
Playing Shaw in all games can be a bit of a problem though, but he is young and can do it. Maybe rest him in an easy league game and play Young left and Dalot on the right.
I think Young might need a rest and I think Dalot can do the job in the league.

Matic and mctominay can rotate a bit. Herrera and Fred can rotate or both pay away in the champions league as an example. Pogba I think can play all games. We need him and I do think he can cope. Lukaku, Lingard, martial and Rashford can rotate too once they are back.

People should stop acting as if throwing one competition out of the window will guarantee success in the rest.
