Does anybody else feel Paolo Dybala is overrated?

Ignorance is a bitch.
Yep.
Tonight wasn't a big game..
The 2016 final where he missed the penalty wasn't a big game and the Euro final wasn't a big game too...

This guy is overrated.

He was brilliant to watch tonight when he came in. Doesn’t mean he should’ve started, Allegri used him perfectly.

He's a brilliant player for the easy league games. Not the most adaptable player and he has clear physical limitations so he needs the right tactical set up to thrive in these sort of games. Especially when playing for a defensive team like Juve.

He was very good tonight.

He'd have been twice the player he is now if he had been born in the era where the number 10 ruled football.

He's overrated by many, some were saying he's world class and all. He aint. Juventus needs a top nr 10 and we even saw that inn tonight game. He's a very very good backup player though, but not good ebough to be a starting or a star player for clubs challenging for the CL trophy

I thought he was very good against us and has a very unique playing style. On the cusp of being a luxury player but definitely has the potential to be WC with further consistency. He would slot into any CL challenging team.

I actually thought he was good when he came on. At one point he was dribbling and shielding the ball from 4 Atleti players near the byline.

Yet he was starting when Juve got to the finals 2 season ago?

The talent is there and imo he is on the cusp of being world class but something just feels lacking with him. Doesn't make him overrated though as he is still a very good player.

A couple of years ago, he'd have been a muppet dream signing for our RW spot. On top of it all, he's supposedly good mates with Pogba.

But now his reputation has taken a massive knock.

Funny how that position just disappeared from football within a few years.

It makes sense, since 2nd strikers/support strikers whatever you call them disappeared first and they're fairly similar, just creators rather than finishers.

Surely just depends on the coach. For example, I can see all of them excelling for City under Guardiola. Same for Spurs under Poch.

I think he's rated just right. But yeah, the over rating and even World class claim of him (plenty of that noise before, diminishing recently) is just.. I don't get it.

Agree with some post here stating there's something lacking about him, and it's not only because of his physical limitations. That something which can make players like him go to the next higher level.

Love seeing him play. No need to use the physical dimension of football, if you can exploit the other aspects of it. His style of play is interesting.

On one hand, it might be a good time to take a punt on him when his stock is low, and we could even involve other players like Bailly and Darmian as I'm sure Juventus needs reinforcements. However, the fact he is Argentinian, has to move to Manchester and regain his form in a new league makes it highly unlikely it'd work out well for us. I would stay clear.

I love this guy to shreds. He's quality as we all can see. He might not get you 20 goals a season but his performance and the way he gets others to play better is valuable to me.

I feel like you will have this sense of quality with him in your attack.

If we get him I'll be glad. Imagine our from three with him, Rashford and Martial, all three supremely talented. Martial with the skill, Rashford with the speed and leadership, Dybala with the trickery, all three with the instruction to go berserk on defenders, with Pogs roaming behind them. Damn! I gotta get the tissues now.

The issue here is exactly the opposite, he is a finisher and not a creator. He is the prototype of a support striker and this is indeed how he gave his best.

This season Allegri tried to make him play even deeper than usual (since it was the only way to play him as a starter, that is behind Ronaldo and Mandzukic) but it didn't work out very well. He is technically gifted and has an amazing long/curve shot and great composure in front of the goal, and that's how he should be used.

For us at the moment he is a huge question mark tactically

Nah. He's a SS. Too slow to play RW.

Just seen this but yeah, never seen the fascination with him. Seems like a hipster/PlayStation choice of style, good highlights and a lack of actual substance.

Be interested to know who he's on par with. People made out like he's the next Ronaldo. Funny thing is, even Fifa and the like fall into the hype trap.

Serie A team of the year for 3 consecutive years. He's probably rated just about right.

Has more ability in his left foot then any of our attacking forwards. Lingard shouldn't even be mentioned in the same sentence. Rashford is nowhere near as good. Dybala has a superb first touch whereas Lukaku trips over the ball. Martial has the ability but not consistent enough yet. Dybala is just having a bad time but the guy still has solid stats this season and he would fit into most teams in Europe. Him and Martial as a front two with Pogba in behind would be deadly. Or even in a trio he can play RW seeing as our RW cuts narrow, he can link play like Lingard and Mata do but at the same time he has quality to play as a narrow forward and he can actually dribble with the ball.

Yes but the way people rate players in the Caf is very strange imo. I'm pretty sure if you ask vast majority will claim United attacking players are all better than Dybala but truth is none of them is not even remotely in his level.

Its more that, with zonal marking the middle is too compact, so you need attacking full backs. Well, with attacking full backs teams needed 1 extra defensive midfielder to protect the flanks (and not lose control). Well, the solution is to play 4-3-3 then. Basically every top team plays 4-3-3 now

It doesnt. Hence why he is getting benched in those games now as more people has figured out he's not developing into what people belived
Those games? He was benched in one game, for tactical reasons. His replacement Bernardeschi was also absolutely superb.

He has been clutch in CL big games ever since joining Juve but is currently going through a drop in form, not least because Juve have to accommodate Ronaldo. Have you already forgot his performance against Tottenham last year?
