I don't know about best ever(real big fan of Mortarion), but it's amazing. One of the most needed too.
True, that is also a magnificent model.

I think the Forgeworld Perturabo is my all-time favorite.

Nah, not weird at all. Other than Blood Bowl, I've never played Warhammer. I love the universe and the lore, read a bunch of the books and graphic novels, and played loads of the video games, but the table top game doesn't appeal to me. I've watched a few Youtube videos of it in action, it doesn't make me want to play.

There's definitely a divide between people who paint and people who play. I know a bunch of people who play who hate painting, they'll just spray them one solid colour and that'll be it. Some just don't even spray at all. Just glue and that's it.

The non-playing painting community seems pretty huge too. Showing off work on social media seems to have made that crowd grow enormously.

The community that both paints and plays appears to be quite small, and some do act a little snobbish to the players who play with unpainted minis.

Weird crowd, that Warhammer lot.
I used to play Dawn of War but i've never played any of the table games so this might be a stupid question/s. But if people don't even bother painting them, why do they even buy the models?

They're pretty expensive aren't they, couldn't they just use cheap toy soldiers or something to play?

Pretty expensive is putting it lightly. That said, I guess it takes all sorts...

I know some competitive players, even some collectors that buy them and pay to have them painted.

I'm surprised Games Workshop have never sold figures in sets with basic paint jobs.

I forgot, this stuff arrived yesterday, haven't had a good chance yet to mess about with them beyond a quick shuffle through the Silver Tower box.

The brushes are Kolinsky Sable, which is supposed to be awesome.

Have always been in to it but havent managed a game in years. Picked up a few random models Id always wanted recently though (Dark Apostle,Masters of The Chapter and that Cultist leader in the Commisar coat from Dark Vengence) and was given a Stormcast paint set as a gift so plenty to keep me occupied.

Works great as a stress reliever.

Nice, I like those self contained boxes, I want to pick up Blackstone Fortress. Reminded me I need to sort a wet palette out too, so much better.

I'd be frightened to think about how much they'd charge.
I just checked a few random prices on their website, i see what you mean. feck that shit i wouldn't pay that, would rather buy a 3d printer and make my own if i played these games.

Absolutely, although I shouldn’t talk about it anymore because I’m going to go in the shop tomorrow and buy those Kastelan Robots

I hear that, I still have most of my Death Guard, Ultramarines, Blackstone Fortress, and Silver Tower to work over(really need to figure out some acceptable speed painting recipes), yet all this freaking awesome new Chaos stuff drops, and probably more to come....Send help!

Its relentless isn't it. It feels worse these days too as the models are so much better and have loads of detail so seems to take 10x longer than it did when I painted years ago!

I literally just made the previous Dark Apostle and then this one is previewed  Im a full cycle of models behind and thats saying something with how long these take.
Got any Eldar you haven't painted for years to finish? Im desperate for their line to be updated

They're going all in on the detail with the newer tech they have.

I swear, back in the mid 2000's I could plough through 20-30 goblins, orcs or Rohan horse riders, whatever, in a few hours, now it seems to take multiple days to do one or two marines. It's not like I'm super good or detailed either!

Man, the salty memes on Reddit are great. It really is daft though.

These tabletop RPG’s always look so cool and fascinating :(

I love my friends, but one thing I’ve never been able to drum up any support for is any of them to explore this stuff with me. I can’t even find any local groups that play as well for me to join, so I’m just stuck :(

This is my world, so I just collect and paint the feckers.

I think it hurts in the battle against the grey unpainted tide, as there might be more incentive to paint them for gameplay.

I may need to start selling body organs. They are on fire.

Got a Great Unclean One and the Triumvirate of Ynnead arriving tomorrow. Literally ordered them, and an hour later, oh, btw, all the Slaanesh is back and better than ever.

I've put a kabillion hours into the Warhammer Total War games. Never played tabletop though, so I guess I don't really count.

I’m buying all the Slaanesh stuff. I’m gonna buy those Ynnead models tomorrow if they’re in stock funnily enough.

How’s that wet palette you got? My local store has just got some in and I’m really tempted.

I definitely want a Slaanesh army at some point, whether AoS or 40k.

Wet palette has been pretty neat. A lot better than the kitchen paper in a sandwich box I'd been using. The biggest difference is the sponge, it's some special naturally mold resistant one. Sine I've had it I've not cleaned out the water/sponge once, and it's still perfect, unlike before where it would only take a few days for that moldy smell to start.

Awesome, definitely gonna grab one always found the home made ones to be a bit of a pain, to keep longer term.

Yeah I wanna do a fair bit of Slaanesh, think I may have to invest in an airbrush for the bigger things like the Keeper of Secrets with all that skin

Oh yeah, an airbrush would almost be necessary for that kind of stuff. I found it a massive help when I was doing Mortarion for his wings and blending colours on his robes.

They're super handy for priming too.

Roboute Guilliman is another success. And TBH he's a better model than the ForgeWorld one, which we don't say often.

Wow. I'm assuming that's the Keeper of Secrets?

Magnificent.
Exactly that, and a massive upgrade on the previous model.

I like Guilliman a lot, the only thing I'm not really digging is all the gold detailing on the armour. Just a bit much.

Yeah he's really flashy and ceremonious, but I think that fits the Ultramarine style.

A few years ago I bought the old Cypher model and a pack of Dark Angels to convert in to fallen. But I never got around to doing it.

All these new releases have got my juices flowing and I want to finish the project now.

On a side note - in a galaxy of awesome, brilliant and intriguing characters I think Cypher is the coolest of them all.

Aye, you're right there. Has that Ultramarine pomp to a tee.

I think the Dark Angels as a whole are one of the most interesting factions, with a great style too. I'd probably have done my Space Marines as them if it weren't for having Death Guard. Would get sick of constantly painting greens.
