Literally the only thing he did during his Portsmouth career was cost United the treble.

Arguably “scored” in a Champions League final too as Šmicer’s goal would probably have been saved by Dida if not for Baroš’s hand deflecting it in.
My memory was clouded because of Euro 2004 - where he scored against Germany, probably. Wasn’t he traded to Lyon for another long forgotten player (Carew)?

Antolin Alcaraz. A memory was posted on twitter by Everton and he featured and the memories of him stinking up the place for two seasons flooded back. He was bloody awful and the player everyone can look at when arguing about Martinez and whether or not he can build a defence.

David N'Gog for Liverpool. Remember some of my Liverpool supporting mates really talking him up. Just checked and amazingly he I still on 29.

Also Igor Biscan who has a champions league winners medal.

Scored 10 Premier League goals in the first half of a season for Wigan. At one stage he was the third highest scorer in the league, causing David Whelan to compare him to Alan Shearer. Then he disappeared into the abyss, never to be seen again.

Germany had a couple of players during their transitional period that could have been important but it didn't really happen for them. I'm thinking:

David Odonkor
Good shout. Seemed to recall he had a breakout 06 WC, moved from Dortmund to Betis and kinda fell away after that, retiring at 29

Juan Pablo angel thought he was under rated.

Ian Harte should have been a bigger game player than he was, cracking freekick.

Elano and Martin Petrov of Man City some years back.
I remember Petrov being quite decent for them. Elano had some excellent games but I feel like it didn't take long for him to lose interest? Very vague memories though!

I remember him just for scoring a belter of an overhead kick against Liverpool. Can't remember a single other thing he did.

Pretty sure Petrov settled in Manchester area (he also played for Bolton) and he was turning out for one of Didsbury or Chorlton in the Manchester Sunday leagues.

He is also the inspiration for one of the best Headline puns in the media: "N'Gog we Trust"

Remember Match of the day making out he was the next big thing and the press saying every club were after him. He never scored again after that point.

Juan Pablo angel thought he was under rated.

Poor mans Rademel Falcao

Corraddi at City. Think he did a knight celebration
Amazing you remember him given he only scored 3 goals.

Wow yeah, I'd completely forgotten about him. Bremen had a great team in 06 and I followed them quite closely that year. I remember their very distinctive orange/green kit from a weekly highlights show called Eurogoals that aired on Eurosport. For people who remember it.

From the same team:
Ivan Klasnic
Hugo Almeida
Torsten Frings

From that general period:
Kevin Kuranyi (was decent in FM)

Was watching second half of Benfica-Tondela (Benfica winning that was daylight robbery) and Taarabt actually came on.

Didn't actually realise that was his debut. Or he'd signed for them in 2015.

He had a season on loan at Genoa in 2017-18 but he's pretty much been playing reserve football in 3 of the last 4 seasons. Such a waste for a guy who is 30 in May.

If we're bringing up obscure Liverpool players we simply can't leave out that Greek ogre with a pony tail and a face like a smashed brick. I've forgotten his name, but it's something like Kyriakos. Every Greek guy is named Kyriakos.

Another one you assume was signed by any of Hodgson, Dalglish or Rodgers but he actually came in Benitez final season, was at Rangers for a few seasons.
