Coincidentally, Luxembourg's probably best player has declared for us. But he doesn't seem to be in any of the squads this break.
Johansson wasn’t eligible for the Under 19’s as he had already represented Luxembourg Under 19’s in the competition.

I imagine him and Ryan Nolan will make the cut for the under 21’s next time around.

Ahh right yea that makes sense with Johansson.

Hard to really tell with Nolan, he hasn't played for us in years and has said himself he feels pretty much ignored by the Irish set-up so hard to guess any call-ups for him.

Kenny said Nolan was on the ‘standby’ list for this squad. So I guess we’ll know more when the next squad is announced.

Been a good, positive week for the U19’s and U21’s, lots of good talent coming through. Not so good for the seniors who were deplorable against Gibraltar and pretty much zero positives to take from that.

For fits & giggles (yeah I know) I looked into tickets for tonight's game.
Cheapest single adult ticket 45 E. All upper stands.
Lower stands look to be sold out.

Hourihane's set pieces were one of the few positives on Saturday, lovely strike although the wall didn't really do its job. Nice that the fans got the protest in as well, overall it's been a very positive first 40 minutes.

Can't complain too much with that so far.

It's coming home! ;)
Good performance overall tonight. A huge difference even compared to the GIB game.
And as mentioned, 6 pts from 2 games, with two clean sheets too.

I think the supporters need bigger & sustained protests to get Delaney out though.

Just back from that. Really enjoyed it. That's the stall set out, so. We are at least going to try to pass the ball to each other. Created an absolute plethora of great attacking situations, usually lacked the quality right at the death to capitalise but massive improvement. McGoldrick brilliant, linked all night. Whelan not a million miles behind, whatever ye say about him. Delighted for my 9 year old. The games he's had to watch at the Aviva in his short life have aged him beyond his years. Finally got to enjoy a game of ball with his oul lad. Keep it up, Mick.

Yep, who would have thought that Whelan was actually capable of playing some simple balls around the midfield? Obviously not Trap and MON anyway, because apparently only Spain are allowed to do that.

Some very good play today but feck do we miss some proper forwards. Fair fecks to McGoldrick that is the only game I've ever actually seen him play well but still, at the end of the day when any of them got within 25 yards of goal they produced feck all. Shit crosses galore and some nice linkup play through the middle that just constantly broke down in the final stage.

From the overall play we should have had the game comfortably in the bag but instead it was a nervy ending. Still have little expectation of actually being able to score a goal.

An actual enjoyable game though, which shit I can't really ask for more considering what we've been served up for years.

We have such a shit group too. It's such a shame the squad has just been getting weaker and weaker. You add back in Robbie Keane and John O'Shea and suddenly everything would be different. As it is though, we couldn't buy a goal so we won't stand much chance. Style wise today was a step in the right direction though and I hope we continue on it. We had the same under MON though, few nice proper games playing football and then just back to Glenn Whelan hoofing balls from our 18 yard box.

Didn’t see the game but by all accounts we tried to pass which is progress in my book.

Don’t think mick is the right man.

We lack any consistent threat in final third IMO to get out of the group.

First Irish game I have enjoyed in years and years. Not even the result or the opposition, it's the fact we were retaining possession and moving the ball forward quickly and on the ground. Nice touches from McGoldrick to bring his team into play. We've been playing like a pound land Stoke for so fecking long it's a joy to see a few passes strung together on the ground .

Nice high press and closing down lanes up front too!
