I look at a player like Lozano & wonder - even if he isn't the player we should aim to have at in our First XI - surely we lack players like this in our subs bench?

The sons, lamela's, Pedro's, Willians, mahrez's, Shaqiris for example start a game but also start plenty games on the bench.

Isn't Lingard kind of that player?

Yes but Lingard to me is a player you can put in 6 positions of the field & get the same type of performance - a wonderful player to have in the squad. I always personally found him the type of player we should be playing when we need to play in a conservative/defensive manner.

Lozano is not someone I'm crying out for - but I feel like we need that type of player that can come off the bench to do things directly.

It's something that I personally think we as a club should be moving on towards. Before it was non viable to have a bench or a squad of world class players - but I feel like City have broken that rule; even if it was due to their excessive money that they had.

Say City has Gabriel jesus & Mahrez on the bench - is it so hard for us to convince players like Lukaku & Lozano to play when their time comes for such a big club?

I guess it's hard to balance that type of squad coupled with trying to get young players from reserves to break through - but hopefully we can find a balance.

Well that would be fine because Napoli have a better squad then United. There are better options with more potential. Every team needs grafters. If Ole has a specific role in mind and Lozano fits that then it is fine. However, we cannot expect him to fire us to a title. If we do sign Lozano we also need someone of Griezmanns calibre.
Yeah might sound harsh but see Lozano as more of an impact player off bench, bit like Wolves have at the moment with Adama Traore

Yes I agree. Lozano is better then Lingard so at the moment he starts. However, he should be a rotation option. He can play LW and RW, Lingard can cover across the the front three and we should have a top player like Griezmann for our RW. Thats squad depth, sadly it is very unlikely and we might just have to make do with Lozano.

Don't think he has what it takes to play in the premier league. He's a blind horse really. In our league he get's away with it, because the defending is terrible, but that lack of awareness will get him in trouble against real opposition.

He's also a diving and play acting cnut. Don't buy him. Get Bergwijn instead.

I think our need for a winger is probably a bit mitigated by Lukaku, Martial and Rashford all decent options out wide, for now.

But it would make sense in a couple years if Lukaku or Martial go, we buy Sancho this summer and then a cheaper backup winger like Lozano, Bergwijn or a similar type and Greenwood becomes the backup 9 and we look something like one of these 2 combinations:

Martial(Lozano)-----Rashford(Greenwood)--Sancho(Lozano)

or

Rashford(Lozano)---Lukaku(Greenwood)---Sancho(Lozano)

and Lingard is our designated 10 since he's not great out wide.

WTF? Why would he expect to be an automatic starter? He can go ask Chicharito for the highlights of his career, it sure wasn't playing for Leverkusen or West Ham, even if regularly.

Lukaku really doesn't strike me as someone who will switch off if benched. He is a bit of a confidence player so it could be an issue, but I would not expect an attitude issue. We spent a lot? That money's gone anyway.

There's few people I would expect to have a better insight into how to handle rotation and keeping benchwarmers motivated than Ole. If someone has the wrong mindset for it he will know straight away. I'm cautiously optimistic and don't want to go overboard with "Ole is at the Wheel" but that's one thing I don't worry about one bit.

Lozano Vs. Sancho... the media seems to think that these are the two primary candidates to fill up the RW spot. Sancho for 93m seems like a lot of money.... I mean not too sure if he'll be an absolute hit like what he's been earmarked to be.... Lozano seems like a great off the bench player. Not too sure as a starter, who would be best there..

He was quite a talent before arriving in Eredivisie, he could take similar role to Shaqiri but can't say for sure if he's the right choice in club with such demands of football standard.

If Ole wants him, he'll get him, hopefully for a no risk price.

I honestly believe he would be a much better option than anyone we have currently for the right hand side. He is apparently underwhelming in the Dutch league but has 19 goals and 9 assists this season in all comps including 4 goals in the CL.

Full international for a good national team also and I’m sure he would relish joining us and improving as a player.

Underwhelming player, not good enough. Anyone from the Dutch league for the right hand side should be Neres.

Bergwjijn? Lozano?

Seriously can we ignore these players from the Dutch league. They look bloody raw and we dont need to waste time and money on them. There's only 2 players from the Eredivisie that big clubs should be getting excited about and 1 of them is already going to Barca.

I’d take him, I could’ve sworn he’d gone to Napoli though?

It was someone called Lozano, I assumed it would be the same guy who plays for PSV.
They have Lorenzo insigni? nobody else by the name of Lozano I guess you just heard a rumour. He’s still at PSV.

Nah it was widely reported that Lozano moving there this summer was a foregone conclusion. If that’s not the case then I’d like us to pick him up, he wouldn’t cost the earth and he’d be a great option to have.

There was a load of news reports that napoli had concluded a deal with lozano a few weeks ago. Assume it was speculation just.

He would be a massive upgrade over our RW - but who wouldn't be.

Sancho
Pepe
Lozano

First 2 seem no chance at this point, but do we wait for Sancho next summer?

For a club with no RW we're very picky.

Unless we're going to get Sancho, Dembele or someone of that calibre, I think Lozano would definitely improve us. It's got to be better than Mata of Lingard.

For £50m odd I would be quite happy with Lozano and James for impact player roles if we were offloading Sanchez, Mata and maybe even Martial and signing one/two top qualtiy wide players like Pepe/Sancho......but of course with so many position needing signing and the fact we have Lingard, doesnt seem realistic

I get the impression Lozano's a United fan, when we were first linked with him years ago I'm sure he said we were his dream move or something along those lines.

I think he will be a good addition to United's bench and may become permanent member of starting XI if he adops to English game well. But more than that I think Raiola wants United to Sign him too, if we want to bring in De Ligt. Just like he did with Pogba, where he sold us Zlatan and Mkhitaryan too to lubricate the deal for him.
