So it seems that he's our number one target for next season. Personally I think he's a ridiculous talent. For reference he has more goals and equal assists in 200 less minutes than Dembele in his only season at Dortmund.
And yet some how some people think he will go for less of a fee. Baffling.

Dortmund have stated publicly that “Jadon Sancho will be playing for Dortmund next season.” According to ESPN’s Honigstein, they plan to keep Sancho for one more season, then consider all bids. If he merely duplicates this campaign, there is going to be a lot of competition for his signature.

Short of Sancho pulling a Dembele and refusing to show up at the training ground, I can’t see this happening this summer. Or a 150m offer that Dortmund cannot refuse.
That's exactly what needs to happen.

If our club has any sense of being as big as it claims it is, they will do exactly that. Barca have shown us the way forward.

Can see it being a 100m fee immediately with 40m or so in add-ons. The staggering thing is he's worth it.

That definitely should be the target.

The headline figure will have to match Demebele's for Dortmund to save face. However, trying to get a decent chunk of it as performance based seems realistic.

Think we aren't signing him this summer. Dortmund knows his value won't diminish and so won't let him go especially after already losing Pulisic. Next year 2020 will be a more realistic target. It's either Hirving or CHO if Ole wants a right winger for next season

Or next year, he is so good that they want £200m+ and even City will fit him in as a starter. Or Real/Barca.

We absolutely have to move NOW. We cannot miss out on the potential next England superstar.

Look at the state of our team now. It's fecking gash for a top club. Our attack is laughable compared to City and Liverpool's.

Of course we have to. But we can't do anything about it if Dortmund doesn't want to sit down and talk out a deal. I also think the player isn't in a hurry to leave Germany knowing he is only 18 and have a life whole career still ahead of him. I personally think Dortmund won't sell. Happy for them to prove me wrong though

I’ve watched probably 25-30 Dortmund matches this season. Sancho is the first option in the Dortmund attack, or maybe 1a behind Reus if you are nitpicking. For an 18 year old to be that influential in a CL-caliber squad is exceptional.

I’d be over the moon if we actually got him this summer, but I don’t see it happening personally. If you are Dortmund, you could sell him for 120m now or wait 1 season and if he improves, sell him for 200m+. Even if he just duplicates this season, you are still looking at 160m. Plus you really look like you are challenging Bayern for the league next season. Neither Wolf nor Philippe have panned out, so you have no real replacement now that Pulisic has been sold to Chelsea.

I desperately hope I am wrong, but I just don’t see it happening this summer. The optimist in me says he’s English, he wants be in the Premier League, he wants to play with his England teammates and so he’ll force a move eventually, hopefully to us.

If I was Sancho I'd be loving all the attention but I certainly wouldn't be ready to move just yet. World is at his feet. Why rush the next step, he's only 18.

The issue for Dortmund might be that if he doesn't replicate his form, they might lose 100m in value if they wait until next season. Many teams have regretted not selling a top-performing player at his peak value. One example is Belotti but Harry Maguire could be another one.

I completely agree. He's a special young player. There's talk about other talents a well, but Sancho has a certain class on the ball, and quick minded intelligence on the pitch, that makes him the near perfect signing for us. I'm just hoping he's very interested in coming to OT. Pretty sure we want to sign him and if he prefers us, we've got a brilliant addition to our attack

I'm hoping that interest in Harry Maguire from the big boys has dropped as well as the price. He hasn't been brilliant this season but has played well and still is quality.

That's because stats don't tell the whole story, Dembele was more of a sensation than Sancho playing for a worse Dortmund side. He is more talented IMO, especially in his physical attributes. That being said, it doesn't mean Sancho won't become the better player of the two. The situation with Dembele and Barcelona was very particular and I think everyone can agree they overpaid due to the Neymar effect and needing to recoup a player that could bring similar qualities (which isn't easy to find).

Just because Barcelona paid that much for Demebele, it doesn't mean Sancho will go for that price, nor should it be Dortmund's expectation.

They will spend a wedge this summer and recruit a few players that we probably could only dream of signing.

Hazard, Eriksen. Start there.

Anyways, we MUST sign Sancho. I think I'll lose my mind if we don't. He is the perfect signing for us and we need him more than any other club.
I'm of a similar mind, I've been pushing him pretty hard in this thread and would be really really dissapointed if we didn't sign him.

I've mentioned this before in this thread but I really do think the Dembele and Coutinho fees were inflated by the Neymar fee. Outside of PSG related transfers, the norm for top young talents is around 80m euros, e.g. Frenkie De Jong, and with Sancho being an attacker and Dortmund reluctant to sell, I think the headline figure would be around £100m to get him. Though I really don't care if we have to pay more then that to get him, but I can't see us or anyone else spending £130m on Sancho.

I was hopeful that De Jong for 80m has kind of reset the marked but then I feel given his age and being English selling to English club, we'll end up having to pay all sorts of extra money

God, I hope so. IMHO, he’s the best winger in the Bundesliga. He just extended his contract 4 months ago.

Question for all. Given the other needs in the squad, and assuming we recoup 50m in fees for players we will sell, as well as projecting 250m budget (net 200 spend), how much would you commit to buying Sancho? Remember, we need a CB, a DM replacement for Matic, potentially a CM replacement for Herrera, and a RB.

I would commit up to 150m. That gives us 100m for the other buys. A bit thin... if we get lucky with Rabiot, maybe... or just live with Dalot and Young at RB for another season.

Yeah, there’s been a bunch crap players coming out of the Bundesliga. Kevin DeBruyne, Firmino, Leroy Sane, Son Heung Min. It’s like Scotland. Only they have four teams in the CL every year. Celtic can’t even get through the knockout to the group stages.

Watch some Dortmund matches before you comment on Sancho.
Nonsense. Did I say the players coming out of Germany league are poor or that the league is so one sided that it's hardly the barometer to gauge someone's ability and that's the same for Scotland too. Liverpools CB played in Scotland, no one was rushing to sign him until he came to Southampton. Yep they have 4 teams in CL because it's German football but 2 are generally shite and would be below West H or Everton in they played in the PL. Dortmund wouldn't make the top 6 and BM might not either.

Too funny cause if watching a football team constitutes having an opinion about a player, this forum is screwed. I wonder if you watch all the teams that you have an opinion about their players? Not saying Sancho isn't good, just it's a massive risk paying that kind of money on unproven talent. We are still playing catch up and are still way behind City and Liverpool. They can take risks cause they are coming into a successful side, we are still talking about needing 4/5 players with question marks over others.

Footballers have to take the opportunity when it arises! Who's to say he doesn't do his cruciate (god forbid) next year and end up an also ran player in the mould of Theo Walcott! Careers are so short he will want to move to a top club now if the chance arises- suggesting he'll happily stay on a contract that's tiny in comparison is naive

Dream signing tbh. Seems to get on well with the Utd lads, would be a good fit- isn’t that the profile Ole was saying he wanted?

If I were Dortmund I would accept a 100m bid for Sancho (but only from us of course) and then use part of that money to buy Hudson-Odoi. Hold him for a couple years and then sell him at a big profit as well...

There's that chance, and there's also the option that he moves to United, does a Depay and it takes him years to bounce back to a top club. Once you fail miserably at a club like United, even if it wasn't 100% your fault, you'll need 2/3 seasons at great level to get rid of the "failed at a big club" tag.

Even Dembele was almost there, after his injury and a couple professionality problems, had Coutinho performed like he should he could be staring at a long time in our bench or a carousel of loans to 2nd tier teams (Inter, Arsenal) where his career would be out of his hands.

Sancho has the most assists in Europe’s top 5 leagues. You won't sign him for under £160m the idea you sign him for £80m is laughable. Dortmund will want you to break the Dembele Bundesliga transfer record thats without mentioning City are due 15% of the eventual transfer which seems to have been forgotten here, they'll want you to cover that too.

Not a chance. Dembele was that expensive for two reasons.

1) His contract had 4 years left on it
2) Barcelona had just sold Neymar for £200m

Sancho has 1 less year on his contract and is not directly impacted by the Neymar transfer. So at most he will go for the same price as Dembele.

The sell on thing hasn't been established. The eventual fee might be that much but as with Dembele the guaranteed amount might be about £80/90m.

Got another assist today in Dortmund's 2-0 win over Wolfsburg.
That is some of the worst defending I've seen in a while. Compare that to how Martial is marked, always with 2 - 3 people on him, you can really tell what kind of state the Bundesliga is in at the minute.

Not criticising Sancho obviously, and it's still ridiculous what he's doing. But if he comes back to the PL he'll find it a lot harder

Edit - just seen it was in the last couple of mins. Still awful though

Wolfsburg defended phenomenally all game, this was in the last minute, right after they got the 0:1. Then they threw all their balls into offensive and BVB had ridiculous space to counter attack. Do not judge a whole leauge based on one last minute goal.

Just a friendly reminder, this year is the first as long as I can think of that English teams were so dominant in the CL.

It's dortmund's fast counter attack as well that makes it easy for mkhitarayan l, kagawa, gotze, Aubeyamang etc - they have a very quick turn over after enticing the opponent to attack as deep as possible.

He looks good, but in reality Man City didn't give him much gametime. Chelsea didn't give De Bruyne much gametime either though.

I would be excited if we signed him. But I'm not sure Bundesliga is the place to laud him for performing. Schurrle plays for a club like Fulham here, but plays for top 6 clubs in the Bundesliga.

No.

Dembele went for that much because that is what superstarlets cost these days. Watch.

What difference is there to 4 years left on your deal or 5?

Bayern just paid £68m for a left back I have never heard of.

This kid will cost at the very least the price of Dembele.
