The 3/4/5/6 teams are so inconsistent anything could still happen.

Spurs
Arsenal
United
Chelsea
Is my guess but wouldn’t be surprised if United rediscover winning ways.

I had a lot of optimism for this, as my earlier posts in the thread showed. The Arsenal loss dampened it a bit but I figured that loss was coming anyway. Can’t help but feel like the Wolves loss last night was one of the nails being tacked onto the coffin.

Realistically we need to win all our remaining matches done we?

Chelsea will be 5th or 6th, but doesn‘t matter for them because they will win the Europa and get UCL qualification. United to get the other place outside of top 4.

Arsenal are consistent at beating lower placed teams and Spurs have generally been excellent this season, except for the last few weeks. Even then, the loss at the weekend was undeserved and just sheer stupidity.

All of the teams involved have one definite loss remaining except Arsenal.

Spurs to lose at City but win their remaining games. Finish 3rd on 79 points.

Then 4th is going to come down to two factors:

1- The United V Chelsea game.
2- Arsenal’s performance in their 5 away games.

United to lose v City and Chelsea to lose v Liverpool means that if Arsenal’s away form continues to be shit in their remaining games, then United V Chelsea will probably be the decider.

However if Arsenal get anything more than 2 wins in their 5 away games then it’s over regardless of whether or not we beat Chelsea. And that’s assuming we win at Everton.

Looks pretty grim.

It's still possible but an uphill task. Essentially we had to keep our incredible run going which was never going to happen. We were always going to have some rough results and the headstart other teams had over us has made the difference. We essentially need to win every other game and get 4 from Chelsea and City.

That included defeats for us against Everton and City and Arsenal loosing basically all their away games. Somewhat iffy was the point I gave Chelsea in their game at Liverpool based on the fact they haven't actually lost at Anfield for years

Taking the next corner instead of Jones!
That's perfect, thank you very much
Tell you what, I'll admit I completely mis-read it right now. I did not realise how resilient Arsenal could be. I've been very impressed since the defeat to us in the FA Cup. I'll give you that promised apology now because, even if you guys don't get top 4 (which I now think you certainly will, if not 3 given the game in hand and your run-in), you deserve it.

Don't take your eye off the prize when the EL kicks back in again.

Hope that keeps everyone happy, including @Mogget ;)

Just did the same.

Liverpool 95
City 94
Tottenham 79
Arsenal 75
Chelsea 74
United 73

Pretty similar to yours, I only think Arsenal will beat some sides away from home simply because they're in much better form right now than mid-season.

I was probably way too optimistic about our own games though, have us winning all remaining game apart from one draw, while I had City drawing against United and Palace.

I'm not falling for you inverted reverse switcharoo psychological jinx ! We are in a good position yes, but we're still far from being locked in for a top 4 spot. But hey apologies accepted ;)

Unless we can win all of our remaining games I can't see us getting top 4 this season.

Give Ole a summer transfer window to fully re build the team and start again next year.

So, after the previous round of results. How many would STILL take a loss against City to stop Liverpool winning the whole fecking thing?

Into the territory of having to win every game now to get CL football next season.

Palace are awful at home this season, would be very surprised if City dropped points there tbh. Who knows what we'll do against them, at the moment I cant see us winning any games unless it's extremely unconvincingly

I did the same and us, Spurs and Arsenal would all end on 77 points with Chelsea on 76. Although I was very optimistic about us.

I think Spurs will win or draw at City in the league. I don't see City beating Spurs 3 times in a row, and they could probably afford more slack in the PL than in the CL.

I couldn't see us loosing to Wolves away twice in as many weeks, it happened though

And besides technically City wouldn't need to beat Spurs 3 times in a row to take 3 points and progress in the UCL ;)

For sure. 6/6 would give us 79 points which would be a guarantee for 4th minimum. Maybe a draw against City perhaps, we would still get 77 which might be enough at a push. Arsenal might break 80 if they improve their away form.

I have stopped looking at the table since the math is really simple now. We just need to win all our games, that's all.

Sigh.

And yeah you're right. I think they would be more focused on the CL than the PL fixture. Depends on the result of the first leg so we'll see.

We've got too much to do at this point. Beating City won't help us because we'll drop points elsewhere. We're only gifting Liverpool the title by winning that match.

Top four is dead for us.

I wouldn't be so sure. I quite fancy Liverpool to turn Chelsea over at Anfield, particularly if they decide to prioritise the Europa League. Arsenal are a team that could drop points anywhere and Spurs are, well, Spurs.

I think if United win the last 6 games top 4 is sealed, no reason why they can't. We all saw the run when Ole first came in. Just need a bit of belief and to get behind the players until it's mathematically impossible.

We're not winning all our remaining games. I expect our rivals to drop points, but we're not going to be in the position to capitalise. It's unrealistic to think we'll go unbeaten for the rest of the season.

Top 4 is a dead cert with 79 points, but it's hard to see them win all their remaining games on current form.

Why not? Football is a funny game, we know what this squad can do, they've shown it for the vast majority of the last 4 months. Surely the likes of Pogba, DDG, Martial, Rashford & the rest of the top boys aren't going to fancy Thursday night trips to the arse end of Ukraine next season.

That alone should be motivation enough for them to put in their very best (unlike what they were doing under Mourinho). This team can go toe to toe with any side in europe when they're performing. Hopefully we can see some professionalism and class over the rest of the season and who knows?

Throwing in the towel when there's 6 games left and only 2 points off 4th is defeatist to the extreme.

If Sarri finally wakes up, start Giroud instead of Higuain in the remaining fixtures, Chelsea still has a chance for top 4. Hazard plays his best football this season with Giroud in the field.

A win today and we're pretty much a lock for top 4.

Everything depends on which everton side turn up today or if they're on the beach already(like the Brits will say).

Although, I may be wrong, we may completely batter them. History shows that everton almost always roll over for us whether at Goodison Park or the emirates.

Having said that, I'll happily take a hard fought 1-0 in our favour

Tell you what, I'll admit I completely mis-read it right now. I did not realise how resilient Arsenal could be. I've been very impressed since the defeat to us in the FA Cup. I'll give you that promised apology now because, even if you guys don't get top 4 (which I now think you certainly will, if not 3 given the game in hand and your run-in), you deserve it.

Hope that keeps everyone happy, including @Mogget ;)
It’s been a roller coaster season. After that unbeaten run Emery was being hailed as a world class manager then we had a typical slump where we were written off and now we are back again favorites for 3rd. We are so inconsistent I wouldn’t be surprised with 3rd or 6th.

It’s the hope that kills.

Arsenal still have to play Watford, Leicester and Wolves. All away from home.
Can see anything from 2 points to 7 points out of that. No chance they win all 3. I'm going for 4 points (1W/1D/1L).
